Your training videos are wonderful, you are direct and to the point without any hum hawing around, no stuttering just a matter of fact. Guten Tag! Kenny
Your teaching is wonderful, no doubt you have a gift I have learned very much from your videos, great style and comfortable manner. I have been an industrial arts teacher for fifty eight years
Hi from Texas , Tom. I have had my Phantom since Christmas and after watching most of your vids will now attempt flying today. My next post will be asking what to purchase next after I either lose it, crash it or it gets shot down (Texans shoot things). Thanks for your tutorials!
First time watching your video, well done! You are committed to clarifying some points and your explanations are easy enough for a yet to be owner like me. Thanks for taking the time to share this important flying information.
Excellent video. Im doing my research before buying a Phantom 2, and videos like this are essential in truly understanding how to control the drone correctly. Thank you :)
Great videos, most comprehensive I have found to date. When you do your videos and talk about buttons on the controller, do show a closer look as to which position you are moving them from and to, so we can understand when looking at your videos. Else you are very explicite and probably the best to date videos I have found on the net!!! Congrats
I live in Kentucky, w/Phantom4 learn a lot from your clips. my biggest fear is a "fly away" I know DJI has safeties built in, however it happens. Keep up the good work tom
Dude you rule, thank you I have watched lots of tutorials on this but non of them told me to actually go and turn on the soft were, when ever I did what they had said to do my phantom would continue flying backwards away from me. Now that I have unlocked the function I'm going to go give it another test.
Hi Tom, I Really Appreciate what your Doing for DJI Phantom Owners Like Myself, Your Videos Are Very Useful & well Made, Thanks A Lot From Veracruz, Mexico, For Sharing Your Knowledge & Experience With Us...
You explain things very well. The Phantom P2V is my first RC and I feel very lost and confused at it has so many features and functions, I am going nuts trying to figure all of this stuff out!! HAHA

Eres el que más sabes del stiwch izquierdo del phantom! Enhorabuena y gracias por la información.
Da da, da da da, you're lovin' it! And I love your videos. Always clear, in depth and institutional. I love they way you use the "tell, show, do" method of teaching, first class. Do you mind if I ask what you do for a living? You would make a great teacher.
Excellent video, thank you. The flying a curve feature is great but is there any way of making the Phantom automatically rotate to keep the centre point in the the middle of the shot? This would be much smoother than manually rotating with the jog wheel.
Actually the course lock is pretty interesting - tried it yestereve and it's fantastic :-) Very easy to shift back and forth between the modes... Now I just have to practive a bit till it becomes natural ;-)
Great job man!! i loved it when you asked "camera person" ahahha you are a mazing!!! now i understand homelock better!! great video man!! thanks i just hit the subscribe button :D
Tom awesome video; can you be more detail about the circle and only moving the camera. Like to know more about it. Keep me in your mind; love you so much.
Thank you Philippe. Today it was working it was all Green. So I guess it all depends of the days and what satellites are around. Also when it was flashing Green and then twice Red I decided to take off any way to see and once it got off the ground 15 feet the Green lights came on and no Red. Any reasons!!!
Hi Tom, The home lock facility, Does it work still if, Lets say i walked an 100 mtrs away from where i started the drone from whilst the drone was still flying in the air. now bearing in mind we have moved 100mtrs from where the drone originaly set off from....would the drone still come back to where you were when locked into home lock mode...??????. I suppose what i am really saying in short is, does the drone recognise the rc controller has home where ever the rc controller as moved....I hope you can follow this tom, it has puzzled me a bit ...A reply would be most welcome, Thankyou.....Oh Nearly forgot to say.......GREAT TUTORIALS
Another great video filled with useful tips! Thanks Tom. Now.... can we see more of the cutie behind the camera? I live close to a McDonalds, but I don't eat there. That stuff is bad for you!
Excellent video. Thx a lot. One quick question: if we set a new home point, and then for some reason Fail Safe is activated, will it go to that new place? (as opposed to the place where it originally lifted up)
The place you gather the sats is where your homepoint will be set. landing somewhere else and then flying back up without turning the battery off and on again will not change it. hope that helps. :)
What is/are the advantage(s) of Course Lock/Home Lock versus Fail Safe? Again, you do such a fantastic job with these videos. Thank you, thank you and thank you. Ed
Very well thought out video. Your tutorials have helped immensely. But I have a question. If I reset the home point to a different spot in flight. Will failsafe be in that spot if communication with the receiver is lost?
Hi Tom, great video; when you (have to) use the "Homelock mode", and the Phantom flies back to its homeposition, does it stay there at a certain hight when it reaches the homeposition??
Theo van Reijsen Home lock is not RTH (return to home). The copter flies towards the home point as long as you hold the stick back. When you release it, the copter hovers just as normally. Did that help? Stay tuned and fly safe!
Tom's Tech Time Tom. I love your tutorials, thanks. I have a question. On Home Lock. I get it switches to course lock about 15 feet or so away and will go backwards in the couse set at start up. Will it continue to fly away from you if the stick is held in the back position or will it go back into Home Lock when outside the circle. Not sure what it would do in that case. Thanks
Tom's Tech Time what happen with the RTH .. if we set the home point in an interesting point while flying.. it is also change to new home point or remain in first home point? hope you understand my bad english. thanks
Hey great videos. I am still confused I just purchased the Phantom 2 vision +. My question is I was not able to see the position of the toggle switch I know its on the left side and I could hear you moving it but I am not sure what position (HC) and (HL) is. could you do another video just showing the toggle switch from start to finish. Thanks keep up the good work.
Hi Tom, great videos, they have really helped me as a newbie. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind? If you manually set a new home point when in the air, will this stop the Phantom from returning to your location in a failsafe or a battery low situation? Could be a bit dangerous if that is the case? How are home lock and course lock modes affected by having Dynamic Home point turned on? Will the drone potentially follow you as you walk around so if you walk with the controller in you hand the Phantom will change course as you walk as the home point is moving? Or is the manually set home point different to the dynamic home point? Hope my questions are clear!
Hi Tom. Great tutorial on "Home Lock" I notice you have a gopro style camera and gimbal. Was this a modification you did your self? If so, could we have details to convert the original DJI sandard camera to your go-pro version. Thanks again for some great material. Peter, Sydney Australia.
Hey Tom, you talk about the position of the home lock and course lock switch in this video... but where is the other switches position? is it off or GPSor...?
Great Video /Explanation.. Rubscribed !! Question..does the Homelock work with a Fly away ?? or is Manual mode the only way to get it back then ? I hope you find the time to answer!!
Great videos Tom. Your tutorials really make things simple and have helped me a great deal with getting to grips with the Phantom. If I manually change the home point while in flight as mentioned in your video and the remote is then turned off will the Phantom return to the new home point or to the original starting point if failsafe kicks in?
Hi! If you lose visual contact with the chopper and activate HL / pull back the stick to make the chopper come back home, how does the chopper avoid any obstacles on its way back? Will it fly high enough to miss the trees etc. before it's back in your visual range? For example, if you are on a clearing with trees surrounding you at all directions, you launch the chopper, fly it up and away behind the trees. And you don't know the actual height of the chopper when it's out there somewhere, is there a way to make sure it doesn't crash into the woods? Regards, Mikko from Finland
Great job explaining these functions and how to use and access them !! This is one of the best videos covering this information. I will gladly repay you in McDonalds cheeseburgers if you every come to the USA to visit !!! Doug Doty...
I am really enjoying and learning from your videos. I have one question. If you change the Home Lock point, Does that change the Return to Home point if you need it?
Great job with explaining CL and HL! What video software do you use to make your videos. I love your introduction clip! (The drone with flag) What did you use to make it? Thanks so much, Lou
Hi Tom, did you adjust the camera pointing on you manually for the circle round at the end of the video? I just plan a similar video. Trying this trick the drone remains in its position.... Thanks in advance for your quick answer Thomas
Hello Tom. I am having a problem with my DJI Phantom 2+ Calibration. Some times I get the Green light so I can take off and some times I don’t especially when I am taking off from the same spot. Also I just downloaded the new firmware and now it flashes Green & Red after calibration. What does that mean? Thank you for your time.
I enjoyed your tutorial but I have a question. I just bought landing gear for my Phantom 2 which requires to be connected to an unused channel. The landing gear folds up in flight and returns to normal position when landing. But I would need to activate this function. Where is the unused channel? Do you have a video about attaching extra devices that an unused channel? Thanx
tnx tom u guys are d best. i have really learnt a lot from this video. pls i own an fc40 phantom. pls how do i connect power for the transmitter considering the fact that the lipo battery only has space for one connection. also is there a way to reduce the speed of movement of the drone and d last question how do i achieve a steady short without a gimbal. tnx babafemi seun from lagos nigeria
Hello Tom. Nice video. Question: How do you change the Homelock back to your RC position? (After you have manually changed the Homepoint.) Many Thanks!
Hey Diego C. My guess is that there is no way to change it back to a previous home point but I could be mistaken! However I do know that if you fly the copter back to the point you're standing at and switch between CL and HL 5 times then it will set the home point there again! Hope this helps! Oh and if you find out that there is a way to revert the home point back to it's original point please tag me in a comment and let me know because I am curious now!
Hi Tom, great videos!! I had a problmem after turn on the IOC. After that the Phantom 2 start flash one light green and 3 fast red, what does it means?
Well Tom, I liked your video so much that I subscribed to your channel. Very well done & informative I will say!For the last year or so, I have been thinking of buying one, but was not sure which model is the correct one for me. My last purchase was a "Walkera D450 V2 helicopter" with 6-axis gyro control" but no GPS controller. I had so many problems with that unit that it got sent back to Hong Kong for repairs. Got it back, fixed & then the transmitter burned up & the helicopter came down safely in fail-safe mode, without damage.Got a new transmitter under warranty, lift off & the ball link came off of a rotor blade & it destroyed itself in about 15 seconds.I have flown RC planes/RC Helicopters Gas & Nitro with swash-bar paddles with only a heading hold tail gyro & never had these problems before. So! What is the best model to buy? The price is high for the Phantom 3 models, a Phantom 2+ seems to be cheaper! Please give me a clue...
well done video, than you for that, wish DJI would take this kind of videos upon themselves to show how they work, anyway thank you much for instructing us
I have a Phantom 2 and I have experienced when the battery gets low that it will lose connecting to the RC and I have no control. I crashed once when this happened and the second time I was lucky and it landed at the compass calibration spot. You have any comments on this question?
I have had my Phantom 2 for a year now. Your videos showed me what I need to no. Thanks Tom from Arizona!
Dana Price Hey Dana, I'm very happy my videos helped you! Subscribe, stay tuned, fly safe and greetings to Arizona from good ole Europe!

Your teaching is wonderful, no doubt you have a gift I have learned very much from your videos, great style and comfortable manner. I have been an industrial arts teacher for fifty eight years
Great explanation of the Home Lock operation. IT helped clear up some confusion about why it wasn't working when in close proximity to the Phantom.
I have owned this for 8 months and you taught me something new. Thanks, great job. Oregon, USA PS we also have MDs
Wow..Great tutorial. You made it look so simple. Now I have a clear idea of both the course lock and home lock.
Very clear and brilliant video on Homelock on the DJI, It all made sense when you see it demonstrated in the video, thank you for making the video.

Thx again, i already think about using homelock for circular motion around subjects. Good video with cool schèmes !
Thank you for your tutorials, have help up a lot for our first drone, great job!
Great tutorial. Made me realise I don't have my Homelock enabled since I assumed it was set on in the factory. Bad assumption which I will change.
Thank you! Your toutorials are fabulous! I have a P3A and try each of your lessons.
Top quality videos. Thanks for taking the time. Very nicely done!! Some of the best I've seen. Good job!!
I live in Kentucky, w/Phantom4 learn a lot from your clips. my biggest fear is a "fly away" I know DJI has safeties built in, however it happens. Keep up the good work tom
My left ear really enjoyed this video.
