i'v alsways been a bit concerned about teh rust showing up on my chain when I started waxing. I'm at my 6th waxing (I rewax after 450 to 500k) and the rust does not seem to be an issue (extra wear) It is typically on the plates and not on the cylinders that do al the high tension rubbing so.
Its just sad some companies ***cough cough SRAM cough cough*** made their 12s flat top chains impossible to use anything other than their chain/ single use quicklink
@@ZavyalovCycling From what I heard Wipperman tried to work around SRAMs patent for the flattop design but was unsuccessful. Why it took so long to reach the market
In fact, I suspect that the entire waxing "ecosystem" wouldn't exist if we needed to use a chain breaker for every time we waxed a chain. Easy removal allowed us to contemplate the possibility.

Exactly! Thanks for sharing your experience on this!
I love my connex 808. On it for a year now and it intentionally gets neglected for research reasons.
Nice! Love research experiments even if they don't make any sense at first 😎

👍😀 I’ve been spotting these “flat“ chains in videos, thinking “ahhh, cool design…” 😎
@@ZavyalovCycling cool but completely proprietary and not even a Connex link is compatible with it. And Wipperman tried.
Would be a miracle if Wipperman nailed it. Their own 12-speed chains have just hit shop shelves after being announced 3+ years ago… 🤪

Spot on!
There is no reason to wax the quick link, and waxing it makes assembling the chain difficult
