My Ugly Experience With The Green Star Juicer

  • I've been using the Green Star Juicer from Tribest for 1 1/2 years now until the gasket on the motor cover broke in and I discovered something that none likes to discover.
    This is what lead me to switch to another juicer. I thought about 2 different choices:
    1. Omega VSJ843 amzn.to/3kwJwN1
    2. Omega NC900 amzn.to/36AkTKD
    And decided to get the second one.

    I just want to say that I forgot to clean my Tribest Green Star Pro juicer by mistake and had no idea. It sat for 3-5 months, without getting cleaned. There was mold fuzz everywhere on the normal pieces that get normally used and taken apart. After cleaning everything properly with different stages of dish soap, white vinegar, and bleach (I went overboard), I remembered this video and got worried and so I decided to take apart the entire juicer to inside like in this video. I discovered, well, nothing. Not even the tinniest spec of mold nor juice nor pulp nor stains, nothing, absolutely nothing. Not even 3-5 months of nasty, stinky, fuzzy mold buildup was able to penetrate inside. So the rubber seal on my unit did it's job and even more, haha. I've also never used the metal cover for the rubber seal. I don't have one. Tribest is very, very good company. There warranty is fantastic too with at least 15 years on all parts (not just the motor).

    I called company and they said the only way it can go thru if silicone breaks. I imagine that is what happened with your juicer. They gave me a way to open it on my own to check. They mentioned sometimes the silicone can rip if we use grapes etc because of the seeds. And the pro version has a ring.. that must be placed the right way otherwise can actually cause damage. And that can prevent large seeds to get thru and give it extra protection to the silicone ring. I find this juicer so good but I am glad I saw this video to be aware of this. Thank you.

    • @naturallyrawsome
      @naturallyrawsome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes the silicone broke in my case but the juice already leaked behind it even before otherwise there wouldn't have been that much mold behind it. I didn't juice a lot of things with seeds, the only thing with seeds that I juiced were pomegranates 1-2 times per year.
      The metal ring sounds nice but I looked it up and it's not available in my country.
      I really liked the green star too and the juice extraction and leftover pulp was perfect.

      Yeah this isn’t normal. This lady very clearly didn’t clean her machine at all. Like at all. My entire family has green star juicers as well as many other brands of cheaper juicers. The green star is the best. It just is. And my father going through his cancer would ONLY us the green star. Let’s get real, you talking about your life. You want the best. We have 4 of these working for 12 years now. Only 2 over the years needed some repair that’s it. And we are talking heavy HEAVY use. You being a cancer survivor you want the best and not the easiest to clean. You want the best quality juice. This woman didn’t clean it. So our family we always rinse it after each use and do deep clean once a week with getting every last spec of anything stuck on it. You must rinse after every use. Do not put it back together after. Just let it air dry on the counter top or in a closet. Just don’t ever clean and put it away wet lol what a moron. You cannot take this woman’s words seriously because she’s putting it away wet and wondering why mold grew lol 😂 seriously your dealing with cancer get the best. And you want the green star. The omega and the others she’s talking are easier to clean for sure. But even all those will mold if you put it away assembled wet lol.
      Yes green star takes a longer time to juice, who cares. Your not going to speed, you want the most out of your food and the green star is just unmatched for quality of juice.
      Don’t buy anything for ease of cleaning when all you have to do is just rinse and let air dry and deep clean weekly. We use these green stars almost daily. Over a decade of use. These people should be ashamed of themselves. Don’t follow morons. Best of luck to you. 🙏❤️🙏

      @@garrisonfamilyalbum3901 that’s great to hear! Also it’s never a good idea to put anything back together and stored wet. We were told years ago when we purchased ours to always rinse right away and let air dry on counter top. And assemble again before use or when fully dry. We’ve always followed those basic instructions and never any problems. I’m 39, my father got cancer when I was 23. That’s how old these green stars are!! As well as our vita mix. We all have one each as well and only one needed warranty help on year 8. They used to have 10 year warranties! And the reason why that one vita mix needed help with the motor was because it was not used correctly. Back then, I don’t know about now, but back then vita mix instructions were to alway blend on high speed and only use the lower speeds for short periods of time. I have never used the lower speeds because I blend everything on high for when I’m making daily. But my father used his for other things like nut loafs and stuff needing a lot of lower speeds so it wore out his motor in 8 years. But ever since it was sent back from warranty for 100% free replacement it’s never had any issues. So let’s count the years omg is that 16 years!!??? These green stars and vita mix blenders have been working seriously hard for sometimes hours at a time for daily or every other day use!! With such minimal issues it’s absolutely CRAZY the value of them. And they work just as well today as they did the day we got them. Only that one vita mix that was sent in for replacement shuts its self off of used for continual smoothies like 4 full size jugs of green smoothies. The rest have no issues. Seriously after 16 YEARS of working like new machines, I have zero complaints. They could all break tomorrow at once and we would all run out and purchase again. ❤️🙏 I wish you all the good health my friend. Enjoy your new green star!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌺🌼🌺⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

      Quite easy: Take out the 2 front screws, the 4 back ones, take out back cover, take out 2 inside (silver) screws in back, remove the 2 Tribest logos on each side, take out the small screw under the logo on each side, lift off the cover, pull out front plastic cap in front, take out the 3 hex screws on front metal cap, pull the metal cap out slowly. Be careful, so as not to displace the grease packed .around the gears. Perform a visual inspection. While I was at it, I put a dab of grease on the black rubber seal around the draft shaft. it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes. Check out the suggestions I got from John Kohler in my other post on this thread and you may want to order a protective cap that goes over the orange rubber seal on the drive auger. Thank you for sharing! Yes, the Angel juicer is similar to the Green Star with the exception that the warranty of the Angel juicer doesn't cover the gasket.

    I just want to say that this has not happened to the greenstar I have. Still the most amazing juicer for me.
    I'd bet replaying the gasket may solve this problem for you and be a wise move.
    Thank you a lot for this info regardless. I will be looking out for this problem and ready to repair it.

      I'm glad your juicer is fine so far.
      I sent mine in to get everything fixed back in November...still waiting for it to be returned as they're missing parts.
      Replacing the gasket by adding a new cover didn't really solve the problem as I still noticed that some juice went through into the back.

    Unfortunately most if not all vertical juicers use plastic for the arbor which releases plastic components in your body. One Chinese manufacturer uses a ceramic auger. Does not matter if BPA-free, the plastics resins mimic estrogen, which is very bad. BPA-free is a scam - look it up. I owned both Green Starr and the Angel. The problem with the Green Star, is it has a design flaw on the nylon gear material on the one gear, it may crack.
    About the gear gaskets, if you add some vegetable oil to the gear pins on the gasket side, the silicon gasket materials will last much longer. You must also be careful to have the juicer either level or slightly pitched downward where the nozzle is lower than the motor. This keeps the juice from moving towards the rear of the gears. Juice and vegetables protein tears up gaskets. This same protein is used to remove layers of the epidermis (skin).

      you can buy all stainless gears for the greenstar and apparently I just learned a protective cap for the seal, but I am not sure if that is for the pro or the elite?

      Unless I'm mistaken no BPA or plastic has ever been found in Omega vertical juices.

    I got the omega MM900 mainly for celery and leaf greens. After using it for the summer I switched back to my centrifugal. I get a little less celery juice, but it saves so much time. Time is money so I think it evens out. The problem with the omega is it takes way too much time to process and the pulpy juice had to be strained 3 times and I could still encounter some pulp. Juicing leafy greens and cranberries it gets so pulpy its ridiculous. Big dislike. It also backs up so easily, my biggest complaint. Forget about juicing anything with a high water content. Its a total joke. I need to find a good juicer for leafy greens. My fast juicer aka centrifugal is my main go to, it may have more wet pulp but with the pulp from straining the omega made juice its about even.

      @naturallyrawsome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's why I decided to get the NC900 which provides a less pulpy juice then the MM900. The only issue with the centrifugal is that you don'T have as many nutrients in the juice as with a slow juicer. If you want to juice primarily greens horizontal juicers are usually the best. 😉💚

      @hunterj.hughes7252 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Sampozsik333 that makes no sense. The nutrients are fine. The juice doesn't keep as long as say a slow juicer, but the convenience for a busy guy like myself it goes a long way and by drinking it on the spot it provides all the benefits one needs for health.
