It's the masticating process. The centrifugal juicers spin so fast that they generate heat within the juice... this heat kills a lot of the the beneficial enzymes which is what makes the juice worth drinking. The masticating juicer spins slowly, around 97 RPMS compared to the 12000+ RPM of the centrifugal juicers. Because you don't destroy the quality of the juice it tastes fresher and keeps for MUCH longer too. Up to 48 hours, compared to the 6 hours of the centrifugal juicers. :)

Maybe it is a combination of the slow mastication and the magnetic gears but the juice from the green star tastes so much better than the high speed blade extractor juicers. It's relatively easy to clean up once you've got the routine. I use a spray bottle to clean the front of the motor. I've shelved my other juicers since using this bad boy.
