  • Man, this Hayao Miyazaki guy is pretty good at making movies. He should make some more. Who knows, he could become an animation legend in Night Cit- I mean, the world.

      Great video!
Were I to rank the ones I've seen, they'd probably go:
      Spirited Away
      Princess Mononoke
      Porco Rosso
      Howl's Moving Castle
I appearantly need to rewatch the last one soon lol

      The Tale Of Princess Kaguya
      Grave of fireflies
In This Corner Of The World
      Whisper Of The Heart 💖
I feel like these are underrated compared to the Miyazaki films

One of the most beautiful details I just now caught on is the hair color: at the start of the movie, Sophie was dark-haired and Howl's hair was light. By the end of the movie, when they've both accepted their true selves, Sophie's hair is silver and Howl's hair is dark blue. Not only is it a clever color reversal, but when you remember Howl noted her hair looked like starlight, and you look at his hair like the night sky.... You see where I'm going with this? 😉
It's almost like saying that she was his star the whole time. Brb gonna cry again 😭

No romance movie in the world, not even Titanic, for how good they are, has ever made me believe more in love as much as this one. This movie really fills me with the beautiful sensation that my special one is waiting for me somewhere.

I will never forget my viewing of Princess Mononoke. The visceral experience in the last half hour is something I truly haven't found in anything since. The film felt like a religious epic in the best way possible.
I'm almost shocked that Miyazaki is still alive (I wish him great health), because if this is how harshly he felt of saving the environment in 1997, I can't imagine what he thinks of the world now.

Couldn't have said it better myself man. It's not shy about what kind of movie it is or what kind of message it wants to communicate, and it's that confidence that I love most about Princess Mononoke.

I don't usually comment on things, but this is an incredible video and I was shocked to see how few views it had? Some really high quality commentary here. This is my favorite movie of all time and you've done just a beautiful job summing up its many parts. This movie is so much more than a hot blonde boy (though we can all agree, no matter sexuality, that Howl is literally gorgeous LMAOO) Wonderful job!!

One of the biggest reasons I adore Howl's moving castle is that, like said in the video, it's a movie about self-love as much as it is about external love.

This is a wonderful video! I'm currently reading the Howl's Moving Castle novel and one of the most interesting things about Sophie that the movie doesn't touch on a whole lot is that Sophie is actually being exploited by her stepmother when working in the hat shop. She justifies this with oldest sibling logic stating that without her the work wouldn't get done, or she has to do this for her family even though her stepmother doesn't make an effort. But she feels like she is slowly losing a part of her youth and that's another reason why she's so chill with being turned into an old lady. She says "well, now you look how you feel on the inside." On top of her learning to love herself she also gains the confidence to realize that she can be her own person and she doesn't owe anyone anything if they don't deserve it. Its wild and I love her a lot.

I've read the book and watched the movie numerous times, and first encountered both as an adult. Sophie is steady and reliable and has a fair measure of physical couraage.
