    I’m so excited that Lalo is available in Massachusetts now. Just hit Massachusetts on Tuesday. I had the honor to speak with Lalo for two hours in person, great guy. I can’t believe his grandfather is Don Julio. Great guy, making great tequila. He was so happy to find his tequila on our shelves. The first time he’s been in a liquor store in the north east, to find his tequila on our shelves

    I wasn't aware of the facility change. Wonderful to have the comparison of the two. Lalo is such a beautiful expression and you can't beat the price. Is there any plans for Lalo to incorporate reposados and anjeos into their lineup? I imagine they would be killer.

    • @tiredoffools8929
      @tiredoffools8929 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Kevin Suriano As per Eduardo, the founder he wanted LALO to always be a pure Blanco expression where the AGAVE is the star with no Barrel influences, so he has no plans to branch this out with a Repo or an Anejo. With that said, he never said he wouldn't create a future brand where he could give us a Repo and an Anejo from the same juice as LALO, but as of right now that's not in the works as far as I know.

    You are killing me Lou - another tequila not available to me in Mexico! I too like the idea that they’ve gone all copper and dropped the chill filtering.

    • @longislandloutequila7208
      @longislandloutequila7208  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, but surprisingly I expected more of a difference with the copper than what I got. Although I rated it a point higher, cuz it was easier to drink and maybe a little fruitier, it was also much lighter overall.

    Sampled the new LALO at LA Tequila Fest, and just picked up a new bottle to compare to the old. I’m no expert like you Lou, but the nose is definitely different. The old has more straw, earthy aromas compared to the softer, slightly sweeter, fruitier aromas of the new. As far as taste, I usually prefer to say different instead of better, but for my palate the new LALO is just slightly better. 🥂

    • @longislandloutequila7208
      @longislandloutequila7208  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's exactly what I said in the review, and I actually liked the nose better on the original, but overall considering it's copper now, I'll give the nod by the slimmest of hairs to the new version. As I discussed with Lalo himself, I hope that it improves even further going forward.

    I see you have one of the chamucos blanco in your lower shelf.
    Have you rated that on the channel? I saw you just rated a repo.
    I know they differ by the lot but am curious. I have a bottle myself.

      No I haven't, and I believe that's one of the older ones from a different nom. Maybe if there's enough left I'll try to do something.

  • @alexpadilla970

    Great video as always. I bought a bottle maybe a month ago, no idea what lot it is because the date markings somehow got smeared ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    Regardless, I gave it an 89. A really great product showcasing the terroir of Los Altos.
    Because they only make blancos, I’m curious if they’d ever do a still strength blanco (or higher proof).

  • @francoisl7663
    @francoisl7663 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been seeing this but was judging the label and thought it was just "another blanco".
    Is all production at the new facility with copper now? Going to pick some up.

    • @longislandloutequila7208
      @longislandloutequila7208  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes as I mentioned in the video, the new distillery is all copper. Even though it is, I had a hard time liking the nose a lot more than the original. It was a little lighter and easier to drink overall, and I think that as they get their feet wet at the new distillery, the future Lots will become more bold and more representative of copper distillation

  • @michaelroundtree4773
    @michaelroundtree4773 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Could the differences have anything to do with the fact the old bottle has been opened for a while...and the taste has changed a bit? Or do you think it's the differences in the distillery

    • @longislandloutequila7208
      @longislandloutequila7208  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think so, if you noticed, I like the original almost as much as the new version in the new distillery. Everything I use is parafilmed afterwards, so I'm not too worried about loss.

    Champagne yeast😂 omg. People will buy whatever now.

    • @longislandloutequila7208
      @longislandloutequila7208  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well champagne yeast has been used for a very long time. Vivanco has been using it on almost all their products at Nom 1414, one of the best distilleries

    • @sebastiangarciarce4011
      @sebastiangarciarce4011 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! Thanks for your great content. It’s fun and interesting to watch you videos.
      My concern with champagne yeast is that it doesn’t mean it makes products better in any way. Yeast produces CO2 and alcohol, nothing else. Based on this, my thesis is that the type of yeast you use doesn’t influence the final profile of the drink. Doesn’t matter if you take yeast from the surface of an unknown planet and use it. It will do exactly the same as any other yeast. The fact that people believe champagne yeast automatically means better product (for me personally) is nonsense.

    • @longislandloutequila7208
      @longislandloutequila7208  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely correct it doesn't mean that it makes it better at all. Many people believe it makes it more fruity, but either way they must have their reason. And thanks a lot for watching, I appreciate it

      Yes for reviews. I like to do good and bad reviews so people know what's out there. It's also for when people come over to do a taste comparison. You have to have the bad stuff to compare to the good stuff to show them the fake stuff
