xQc DOESNT understand that driving with a racing line is like driving in your city with a google maps GPS, you would never truly learn the streets just like you wont learn the tracks in iRacing.
I don't know what @may-K-47 is talking about but this is not a good analogy. At the end of the day it's better to use GPS than to be completely lost. Also I think you guys forget that xQc doesn't even have a drivers license so he's not even in "his city" he's in a completely foreign country going from not driving at all in real life to trying to race in IRacing. If he was playing with someone else then they could show him the lines but if he's playing by himself it's fine to use racing lines even if their not efficient.
Definitely seeing improvements! Appears to be getting better at racing with others wheel to wheel. It seems like he's having fun which is all that matters.
While I do see his potential and his improvements, I am not seeing him have a raw feeling for car control. To be clear, I ain't one of those crying haters who can't stand him use a racingline to learn a track. A racingline is a tool and isn't always the reason for mistakes or bad pace. But he should turn it off as soon as he knows where the track is roughly going. It truely is an obstacle for him in this way and doesn't help him improve anymore. Losing control in those first laps and not doing anything at all to correct the oversteer just shows how little feeling or confidence he has in car control. This goes hand in hand with turning off the racingline. As he has to become more confident to push a bit too hard and know how to correct and learn the limits of the car. He has to prioritize car control if he wants to actually make big steps.
You can tell that on his last lap, he stopped pushing and just tried to keep it calm and smooth to finish out the race, and until the last corner he was basically matching his fastest lap time. There's a lesson to be learned there. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Real race car driver here: 1. You need to turn the driving line off. It's okay for doing your first couple laps around a track you've never done before, but you have to find braking markers and turning markers and make your adjustments. It's just not accurate enough to rely on. 2. The lap where you went flying off the track is because you came off the brakes too early. You braked on time, but you came off the brakes before you'd slowed the car down adequately. 3. The pass you did was reasonably well executed. It proves you don't need the driving line! You outbrakedy our opponent, didn't go flying off the track or dooring him off. You could have braked a touch earlier and not have climbed up the track quite so much, it'd have been better, but it's a far sight better than most iRacing rookies. The MX-5 Cup Car has fairly severe cold tire effects. The car doesn't have tire warmers in real life (or in sim), so the tires need a lap or two to warm up (more like 2 on a short track like this) so you need to take it easy on the outlap. That's why you start drifting so hard in turn two - you need to be like 5mph slower than normal to keep that from happening, which feels absolutely glacial when you're used to taking a turn at a particular speed. Keep practicing and the improvement will come.
when you hear your tires scrub on the first lap out of the pit lane, youre only heating the outside surface of the tire. you have to do normal, not fast out laps so that the whole tire is heated properly. The heating model in iracing is sort of weird with grip levels when theres a temperature difference between the inside and outside. thats why youre always drifting on the first lap out of the pit lane.

tbf one of the fastest guys I know right foot brakes, its all in the technique. Granted, I'd bet he would be even quicker if he learned to left foot brake

if you ever read this comment, the last 2 corner u leave the foot away from breaking, just take away some throttle, while you do that turn your car in the prefered direction (happening in 0.5 - 1 sec) and go 80% to full throttle
I've never liked racing lines even for learning a track. A simple braking point marker is way better because it doesn't make you tunnel vision like a racing line does. You end up looking through the turn instead of staring at the line.
the braking mid corner is what causes the ass end to step out, trail braking isnt bad but too much brakes while turning with no throttle will make you spin
You started drifting because you dabbed the breaks whilst turning and you had low engine revs. Breaking loads the front end giving your fronts more grip, lightens the rears giving them less grip. Low revs = low engine breaking meaning your rears are spinning with minimal resistance and in this case effectively tried to overtake your front. Learn to steer with your feet if you want to go fast
dude needs to stop GRIPPING THE PADDLES holy shit it drives me insane he can't even hold the fucking wheel correctly, all of his force to turn is using his thumb and index finger pinching the wheel
He needs to learn how shifting weight balance affects the car. He's wondering why he's sliding when he's letting off the throttle mid-corner, and the answer is because that creates lift-off oversteer from the weight shifting off the rear wheels.
Good job man, keep it up, remember tires in Mazda mx5 are very slippery until warm drive like your on ice! Keep going. The long turn off the straight away patience thru that curve by next season you’ll have the tracks down. It’ll be muscle memory
