Apparently Callan O’Keefe (the guy who finished first in the Suzuka race) is a former karting world champion. One hell of a racer.

Yeah, really wish forza would implement some sort of licensing for online races. People would still find a way to ruin it for those that want to play it more seriously though.

@@Patchogs online racing has been rough since F4, I was hoping when forza horizon came out that forza Motorsport would steer more towards being a proper sim but instead just feels neglected. Project cars tried but failed. Us console peasants would like a sim that works with a controller not just a wheel and attracts sim racing fans rather than griefers! If I had more space I would get a decent wheel set up and spend a bit on my pc so I could play iracing.
@@dankemp4854 aye, tried Project Cars and really disliked it for some reason! I like sims on both console and PC, certainly ain't rich enough for a big sim rig but I do have a trusty Thrustmaster! There's always the non contact races but it does take a bit of the immersion out of it
They say there’s a fine line between courageous and crazy, and that MX5 driver was nowhere near the line.

When I was in the rookies, it took me like 3 attempts to realize that torpedoing results in either getting wiped out or losing too much speed & getting passed right back immediately.

I don't care how good you think you are at Iracing or any other racing game, the guy in the orange car at 9:50 is the best racer. He made a mistake owned up to it and let Jimmy pass. Hats off to you man!

It’s crazy how someone turning pretty fast laps like Malcolm can’t understand how to pass someone and literally sends it in at every corner. He’ll be in rookies until he decides to quit and probably can’t figure out why.
Fast lapping in iRacing is only about 40% of success. Racecraft is more important, ecpecially in longer races from B or A class. 10-12 min races ppl send it for 100% all the time, on 45 min IMSA you would have no tyres after hald of a race.
If the driver in front is alot slower ill send it basicly every turn so they open up the line at somepoint and just let me pass. But i do race mostly oval where its a whole diffrent thing.
@@HochstartHarry definitely different in Oval. You can drive it in deep and still maintain your lane. Road racing you’re basically taking out whoever is there beside you.
If they’re capable of driving that fast then they’re capable of learning to not send it up the inside. I doubt they were that quick when they started, they learned to be that fast.
@@Jpilgrim30 ell there is a diffrence between sending it up the inside and always staying on the inside corner of theire rear bumper. figured that out by now ;D. i do the 2nd option in mx5 or formula vee. i wasnt too certain on the deffinition of send. matter of fact i do kinda dummy sends to scare the leading car into opening up the inside line. but its a tough one. 0.001 sec to late on the brakes and you punterion the other driver.

A roll. Not a barrel roll. A barrel roll is a combat tactic used by aircraft. It is not simply to roll to one side, even though lots and lots of people seem to think so. Even in GTA V flight school you are taught that a barrel roll is rolling to one side. But that is simply called a roll, in aircraft it's called aileron roll.

I don’t believe hes red bull anymore. He recently replied to me on tiktok that he went through some issues with red bull like albon. I think his chrome blue care is a renault.

The way they did the MX5's I have also trouble finding pace in it, some guys do it in 1.46 at Okayama. That racecraft from Malcom was out of this world maaaaannnnnn and you thought Kvyat was a torpedo

This is exactly why I didn't really like iracing, it was more stressful trying to to get taken out and I didn't really have fun racing.
yeah but if you grind the SR for a couple days you get into better lobbies then it becomes one of the best racing experiences
That first race really only happens to that extent in rookies, you still see it in bottom split higher races but nothing to that extent, and the racing gets really good. Consequences are just real as hitting someone will usually fuck you both, as is real racing most of the time, which can make it less fun as a pure racing game
@@crawlmanjrable Not exactly . . . The lobby assigning process is solely based on iRating. If you grind safety rating for a couple days you might go into a race with a high safety rating and be able to focus more on racing than not getting off tracks but it does not mean you will automatically be assigned to a “clean” lobby. Generally you start to find clean racing in lobbies with SOF’s of at least 1400. Safety rating is important but maybe focus a little more on iRating if you’re chasing cleaner racing. Hope this helps, happy holidays.
@@justinbayse4417 Another tip is to join underparticipated classes in MultiClass Racing, like the Optima in the Fanatec GC or the Audi in the Pilot Challenge. Since there is SO LITTLE participation there, the cars in the other classes will be the ones in the higher splits, so cleaner drivers.

I’m not fast by any means but I found the time trials to be the easiest ways to get out of rookies while learn how to be smooth.
Each attempt require 10 consistent laps to qualify. 10 laps without incidents give tons of SR

@@liquid0001Squadalaxd People also need to learn that you wont always win, theres always someone who is faster. Just race, be clean and have fun, victories will come. Thats atleast my attitude towards online racing.
@@snowjix The problem is most people don't have the knowledge and much less the experience to match people who are faster. Then they get frustrated and disappointed so they quit. I've taught a few people who really wanted to learn. In a few weeks they were running circles around everyone other than me.
I'm just absolutely addicted to the Mazda type races, it truly is one of my favorite race types to watch, glad to see it here!

Wow great to see the pedal cams im used to f1 style cars didn’t realize mx5 requires so much trail braking comparatively its interesting to see the differences in steering ramp up too less flick on these cars more gradual input
love these vids , i just started racing in iracing and i have no idea and sooo slow but i finished 5th with back of pack start and the field all died. never give up lol

I had never played this before I did my first tri oval indy car race so all i did was keep pace and let everyone spin out while I just played it safe, ended up in 3rd after something like 50 laps

The fun part was watching Malcolm make the same mistake over and over and never learning from it. "I've tried to outbrake this guy on this same corner every lap and overshot and gone off every time.... but this time it's _bound_ to work!"
Those are the guys who end up in the forums complaining it's impossible to get out of the rookies and blame everyone else on the track.
Lesson to learn: Hot-lapping and racing are two different skill sets. Doesn't matter how fast you are if you don't know how to pass safely
With that headset mic you definitely want to post-process the mic audio with a multiband compressor vst set for deessing. Gets those high pitched S whistle sounds in check.

One thing i always found horrible about iRacing was the UI. I managed to get out of rookies, went to D and tried to find stuff to race but i couldnt really find anything, continued the mazdas (as theres a D tier one). Then got my C and again couldnt really find anything to race properly. Might be helpful for rookies to go through that ... I wont be going back to iracing, i dont have the time to commit to it any more... id practice like 5+ nights then do 1 race. it was exhausting.l
