I was in high school 30 years ago but I don't remember them.....but I had no style. They probably existed and I had no idea. But NOW...... I'm ready for this!!
I have always loved u, but this video is the one I've needed the most! I keep belts like this in the rotation because they are so versatile and flattering. I have then in multiple colors and widths. An inexpensive one can cost, at least, $30 ... Or more depending on the quality. I love the option of making my own! Thanks,, ORLY!!! 💕💕💕💕
I really like this diy, it took me back to the 80's, I used to wear belts like these ones all the time, and I think wearing them under your clothes is so clever! 🌹
Be careful when cutting your zipper. 1- Make sure the slider is all the way to the bottom 2- You might have to create a stopper on each side at the top so that the slider doesn't come off, a few tight stitches works great.
this is a very cute video. thank you for sharing your cheery self with us and give us these cool tips on how to style clothes and how to make this nifty accessory!
I love this! I really like how you styled it, and used it to shape your clothes from underneith. I made a chunky waist belt (a little different from this, but still a statement piece) a little while ago and really appreciated the styling tips here!
I can never find a belt I like this would work however I have never seen elastic like that. I will have to check our local Fabricland. We have very few fabric stores in Canada so might have to go online. Thanks for the great idea.
OMG Orly I literally was just saying earlier today I haven’t seen any videos from you in a while! And dog on it.. I open my phone to YT and there you are! 😂 Cute & functional pieces! 😊
omg I'm so glad you're here! I've been releasing weekly in the new year. Just had to take some time off at the end of the year because ROCKNOT and Style Language were bananas! But lots of good stuff every week!
Thanks, Orly! I’ve always been a big girl, but once I hit menopause, my midsection just revolted on me and turn my S-line curves to one big “O”. I think this belt may help (I hope 😬) And this style language my brother just what I’ve been looking for. I saw a video recently about picking your “season” color and I still have no clue if I’m a warm winter or cool spring or whatever. I was so confused, but this may help too!
You are so awesome. I realize you have several successful ventures going at the moment, Ms. Midas, but I have two words for you Subscription Box. I would totally buy a monthly or quarterly DIY Box of Style from you. Just a suggestion. Sending love.
I feel so dumb! I keep buying elastic belts and am never quite happy with them, they're either too tight or too loose or not the right width or they are cheap and end up stretching out and I have to keep taking them in.. I can't believe I never thought to make my own! I love wearing tunic tops over leggings and cinching them in with these (yes, my millennial is showing... no I do not care 😁) and this is perfect!
Oh thank you! I make them! www.rocknot.com/jewelry You'll see it here under Petite Crown Bracelet. There's a matching necklace if you want to get the set and save 10%
No, its a specific type of zipper that will separate at the bottom. Those are used for jackets and things like this. Other zippers have a metal tab preventing them from separating and thats what is in most clothes. Skirts, Dresses, etc.
If you sew it the “simple” way on top, the elastic will soon pull out of your seam and you will be back at the beginning. Take the time to learn the fold over method to save yourself a lot of heartache.
I don't understand why you have to fold the elastic? Can't you just use the raw elastic edge and sew it down on the outside of zipper with a satin stitch edge?
I dont know what a satin stitch edge is but regardless, you dont HAVE to do anything! You can totally make this your own I didn't want a raw edge on mine, which is why I turned it over. but I am definitely not the expert seamstress so Im sure there are other great ways to do it too!
These were the biggest trend when I was in high school 30 yrs ago. Love them.

I had several and loved them but Orly always has a unique spin. Fun!
@@penelopefp late 80's early 90's. Loved wearing them with my school uniform. Made my waist look tiny! I was skinny and I didn't know it! 🤣🤣
Same. Can't believe it's been 30 years now when I only feel like 25🤣
@@nikieberhardt4624 so true! I haven't aged at all! 🤣🤣😭😭
I love the sparkly zipper! What a great idea. I’ll be making these, absolutely!
So glad!!
I don't even need to sew this - you've given me ideas for how I can use my old 80s elastic belt in new ways! :)
I don’t think I would have ever thought of putting a zip in an elastic belt, think I will be trying this ❤
oh good!

Yes! It's www.rocknot.com/jewelry Petite Crown Bracelet, or you can buy it with the necklace as a set and save 10%
💕👍
Maybe a stupid question....aren't all zippers separating zippers? Or are some just for show and don't function?
Some Zippers are joined at one end. Like in a Dress or a skirt. But you need one Like in a Jacket.
Sorry , english is not my first language

@@OrlysChannel Satin stitch edge is tight zigzag so stitches form a finished seam look.
Ok...which self tanner do you use??? Always a struggle.
I usually use Vita Liberata or Sally Hansen spray legs body makeup, I mix it with lotion. It's the best
@@OrlysChannel Thank you so much for responding!!
Your voice sounds very different
I have an rhinestone zipper and now I know what I am going to use it for. 😍😋
heck ya!
