    As a Japanese, I would like to apologize to everyone who had a bad experience in Japan. Every country has good people and bad people, but when I see my mother, who doesn't speak English at all, giving directions to foreigners at the station or in the city, I am kind to those who are in trouble. I thought I'd make it. Japan is a nice place. There are anime and shrines. From a high school student in Tokyo. ps Chainsaw Man and Boku no Kokoro no Yanai Yatsu are recommended anime that will be broadcast in the future.

      From someone in the UK, thank you very much. Japan really does look like a wonderful place to be, and honestly it’s one of my heart‘s biggest desires to live there someday. what’s it like being a high school student in Tokyo versus you think the countryside? I can only imagine how big a difference in Japan it is between the school and university world and the job world. For us here in the UK, it can sometimes be quite big especially if you are not prepared for it or in the right sector, but feels unimaginably massive in Japan. I am a big fan of your countries classical culture, as well as your popular culture including anime and language, but obviously the working hours versus how much pay there is and a possible long-term language barrier are one of the top things that stop me and the vast majority of the rest of us from trying to make it in Japan, on top of all the bureaucracy.
      I would love to work in Japan’s artistic entertainment sector, but unless they chose the right one, the work life balance could be a disaster and could achieve better in another country. Japan feels like the place where my heart resides, but it’s a big barrier when all of the higher paying jobs with less stressful possible working hours are in other countries. I’ve got to say though, if it wasn’t for all of that, I really would love to work in the animation industry if not the gaming industry. And I have the qualifications to do it now.
      Good luck to you in high school. I hope it is a wonderful time for you.

Japanese however are most likely just to put up with it because it's part of their culture of not being confrontational. Of courtesy depending in what it is and the person, they will speak out but in general Japanese people are known for working hard for less pay. This also spews into the reason why they are less likely to speak out.

      Yeah Japan always needs more IT people, and David seems to be one of the norms of people trying to get into the country. But as we’ve seen, a lot of people still try and go via the easier route first off by doing English language teaching, although it feels like that will be hard to do considering the fact that you have to be able to teach in the first place and perhaps we flew into the Japanese language. However I imagine there are other ways to get around it if they can perhaps do more of a cultural exchange option with a company rather than a straight up language teaching of English. IT is definitely A popular way to get into Japan, but when it comes to jobs in computers, it definitely seemslike it’s one of the big sectors where you are almost certain to get too many long hours. Not unless you’re at a company that almost exclusively hires a lot of foreigners who wouldn’t except those kinds of conditions. I just couldn’t do that.
      Would love to live in Japan, but I also want to enjoy my time there and have expendable income, so unless I can find a job that actually does pay it’s worth without draining me of all of my free time, it just wouldn’t be worth it for me unless there was many years in the future.

Osaka area totally different. Guys would walk up to me and want me to go drinking with them. I lived in Kanto never had that happen. like first week in Osaka that happened a few times. no actual racism in tokyo, just that slight discrimination but it's the lightest version of it that's more annoying or hurtful the longer it happens. at first you can just sweep it under the rug when you are on vacation, but when you live there it can bug you a bit over time. Still like Japan more than America lol.

Also, I grew up in a city with really no Asians and I never thought badly about them... I think many people who like Japan give them the benefit of the doubt like that, but to me that is kind of like insulting to the majority of Japan that aren't that naive to be racist etc.

      @@tristian14 no, other asians like chinese and South korean... AS a white person you will have it best out of foreigners, but their are some people that don't like White people there, however even as a black person, the discrimination isn't blunt... it's more silent aside from them saying they are scared of black people... it will just be little things you have to be able to read the room for blacks. You won't have a problem, even the percentage of Japanese that don't like white people... usually it will be some guys or girls that don't like the special treatment white people get that don't like white people.. but those are usually people that have been abroad, or are like interested in hip-hop. I think half of the discimination in japan is because other foreigners have diluted them.If you want to study trhere go for it.. you won't regret it, just be careful who you make friends with, some will only be friends with you to study english, some girls only will date you because they think it looks cool to date a white guy (some are like that for black guys/ womenas well.) and some people will only be friends with you because you are a foreigner, just do your best to avoid fake friendships and dating and you will have a good time. set your expectations that it isn't perfect though and you won't be disappointed.

    It’s crazy thinking about it now since I was stationed in Okinawa and some of my best friends were native. Can’t say I experienced anything bad since when I traveled to the mainland I was with my Okinawan friends. Even in Korea, no one was scared of me or rude. Goes to show that exposure to the right people can definitely change someone’s views.

    • @danielwhyatt3278
      @danielwhyatt3278 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I could totally tell as well. It doesn’t matter whether you are white or black, you could immediately tell from just how they physically express themselves (before even talking) that our chat was from the UK and the other was from the SF area of the US.😆 Based on what you’ve seen, have you noticed there is a similar level of discrimination with lack of exposure and understanding towards disabled people? it’s obviously not easy at school when you are mentally different, and thankfully Japan has actually created quite a good amount of animated movies that have beautifully emotionally express this, but what about physically? it feels like those obviously within the expressive media, arts and entertainment sectors are more open to others who are different, but what about general society? i’ve heard that things have been slowly getting better, but also that there is a stigma that’s still their surrounding people with physical disabilities who don’t just blend in with everyone else! have you noticed any of this while living there? I don’t have a physical disability but I am slightly higher on the autistic spectrum, and do worry that I might struggle to adapt or perhaps be noticed as being more different than I already am as being white, creating more barriers if I was to ever move to Japan, especially Tokyo.

    As a bi-racial (african american & white) female who currently lives in Florida, but was born in the north east US, and adopted by Jamaican parents... who lived in England for several years before coming to the US, AND has also visited several areas of Japan, I can tell you that it was one of the best experiences of my life. When I was in the NE US, nobody in my neighboorhood looked anything like me and we were probably 1 of 2 "ethnic* familes around. Moving to Florida, there wasnt much difference. Luckily, I've never personally faced any challenges when it came to race or "being different" growing up. That didnt come up until connecting with my birth mother (white) and my two half-siblings (also white) about 3 yrs ago. During my short time in Japan, it was a breath of fresh air. Everyone that I encountered was nice, respectful, accommodating, and I didn't feel that I was looked at or treated any differently than anyone else. Customer service was top notch and I always felt welcomed and safe. 💕 I cant wait until i go back!!
