I experienced a lot of this, too. I think it's so interesting to come across an entire people who only "know" black culture as a reference to whatever media they're familiar with. Their intrigue and curiosity for us is both genuine and casual. As least, that's how it comes across to me.

The chick who said... "some ppl have to be open minded to date you". That's 💯 percent facts. Been living in Japan now for almost a year now. I think that if your a white male, you have it a bit easier. I do feel like some girls are curious. They may like the black culture, but not necessarily you. Something to be careful about.
I was stationed in Yokosuka for 6 years. I can tell you, most of the women interested in me as a black man were probably 28+. Normally this is the effect of Japanese men wanting much younger girls. So they then become open to actually dating “you”. Then there are the most annoying type of Japanese women who tan their skin, wear hoop earrings and actually want to be a black girl and think you automatically want this because your black.
@@EsoteriK1993 This is very true, & I agree with you. Don't listen to what most people say. I don't think most Japanese women like black men at all. Although for sure I'm not saying that some don't, because certainly they do, & you can date them for sure. But to say that Japanese women as a whole love black men? Nah. It always will depend on the guy, but for the most part? You could always date women closer to your age or even slightly older than you, but it will usually be pretty challenging beyond that. Especially if you're looking for a girl with great looks. They prefer their own first & foremost in my opinion.
Also it works both way when it comes to fetishizing black culture and black people its the same way non japanese people love Japanese people because of Anime or other Japanese culture etc Like I see people say I want to date a Japanese or Korean person because I like Anime or K-Pop or K drama
No it’s not. There is some fetishisation going on but it’s not nearly to the same extent because the people interested in Japanese and Korean people generally are familiar with their culture. Even when they are fetishised they are seen as people (not just sex) and they are taken them seriously. Like you would never hear Japanese or korean people complaining about fetishisers telling them they’re good enough for sex, not marriage. There is a level of respect they are given even when fetishised that black people are not given and that’s just a fact. So let’s not try to equalise what is not equal.
Japan might be a homogenous country, but where do they get the gall to speak to people like that "what colour are your nipples?", "you look like rap.", "how big is it down there?", those questions are so disrespectful, regardless of if your speaking to someone whos black or otherwise. In terms of their ignorance to "black people", I cannot buy that, the internet has been around for too long to not know how to treat and speak to people of different racial and ethnic backgrounds. I've never met a Saomoan but I'm not gonna be jumping them and asking "if their related to The Rock", it's just common sense.
It’s because we’ve been commercialized. Commodified. A lot of these other groups only see us as entertainment. Quite literally. They don’t see a reason to their due diligence for the most part, and when they do, it challenges everything they’ve been told about America and the so-called West. It’s natural so I get it, but to be completely honest. The last thing we need to be worried about right now is “does this group like us?”
they're strange folk. enough said. Theres good people that you keep close to you and people that're funny acting , I treat like a pole. I wave to ya and keep it stepping.
As an introverted Japanese woman married to an equally introverted American black man (he was my first boyfriend), I found this interview interesting. No matter what race you are, you can be weird, club-going, sexually open-minded, introverted, and so on, so don't be too prejudiced😊
@@Starfish-kx3du “Club-going” can potentially be promiscuous in nature, but being “sexually open-minded” doesn’t imply promiscuity. It just implies that you experiment with various acts, including monogamously.

@@wondercreationz Haha probably! There is a reason that their birth rate is so low. Even all of the Japanese male friends I know are looking at other Asian women. Korean, Vietnamese, Filipina's etc. I'm starting to think I probably have to do the same. Even in Japan. I benefit from it being a rich country with many Asian foreigners so I could always just find a substitute woman I guess. Even one of the guys in this video who is 23. He said he was married but his woman was mixed, which doesn't surprise me. From my experience mixed women seem to be alot more mentality fit/ put together than pure blooded ethnic Japanese. Japanese women just want sex, but for serious relationships it's a hard no for the vast majority of them to me. Infact I'm even thinking I need to be careful with whoever I choose to sleep with from now on. These women are batshit cray, cray. & it only gets worse after you marry them I heard. I knew better all along but the problem is I just like Anime & the Gaming Culture too much. My mom told me that Koreans & Filipinas where better due to Christianity, but I kept thinking that Japanese women where the best. It's a shame because the closest Asian country to the west? Which I generally consider the gateway country, seems to be great for everything except for relationships. Japan needs to embrace a mixed future, unless it's women change. I hardly think the issue is Japanese men simply due to how well developed & organized the country is though. Good luck to you finding an Asian guy btw, thanks for your comment & sorry I wrote so much! 👍🏿
2:28 I'm no psychologist, but it sounds like she just had a panic/anxiety attack, the fact that she calmed down outside the event tells me as such. That being said, completely ghosting him is wild and he definitely dodged a bullet there 😅.

I’ve had dudes come up to me and start talking at me in “Jamaican”, like “yeah mahn “ I’m like…. I’m not Jamaican. When I was dating still in japan it was tough. Never once did I have a serious date with a Japanese dude. A lot of creeps and tourists wanting to play around with a foreigner. Basically every guy who I went on a date on was either practicing English or was some kind of weird black culture weeb. So be ready for that…
I have no empathy for black women who struggle to date in Japan. Because as a black man I have a hard time & some black men do too. People need to stop pretending as if we do not. We still do, so its the same as black women.
Considering the birth rate over there I can believe it is hard to make connections. But how much harder is it when that is a person that is from a very different part of the world.
Amazing! I think this paints a very interesting perspective on what its like dating in Japan as a foreigner. I've never been to Japan before but I have had friends who lived in Japan and the dating stories ranged from esoteric to normal, very interesting indeed!

That was a fun video! Thx! I got the n*pple question too... Never dated in Japan (already was in a relationship when I arrived), but a bunch of Ojisan did hit on me on the street or on public transportation. One of my Jamaican friends was on a date...the guy licked her hand and said: "I want to know if you taste like chocolate".
Im Black and from America. from my experiences travelling abroad, a lot of people in Asia & Europe seem to respond differently to u when they find out youre from the US vs from Africa. Ive had a lot of people from many countries in both continents tell me theres a dislike for Africans, more than Black Americans, because Africans seem to want to move to these places and never go home. A lot of them dont mind "visitors", but a lot of them are anti immigration just as much as most places on the globe. Forced multi-culturalism, on a grand scale, always creates issues...no matter where u go, because humans and naturally tribal. When u tell them youre not from Africa, its like some of them have a instant relief on their faces. Im not flattered by the reactions at all, but those type of things just always stood out to me. Mainly because the negative images of Black Americans seem to be centered in America more than anywhere else. So once u start travelling, its a major eye opener; more so if you were the type to think people from certain cultures all view things from the same lens. i encourage more Black Americans to travel internationally. Youd be surprised at home much these people know about our history, culture (eg music/art) successful social movements etc. As long as u dont arrive with a sense of self entitlement/arrogance, respect & support their locals, they show u much love all around Asia, Europe & africa. In south america, the vibe is real cool as well. youd be shocked at home much u have in common with people whom arent from your culture
I smiled the all video by the way the happy end was cool thanks Jess I have been to Japan last christmas and new year for the first time i can say as a black french guy everything they say is true mostly in bars & clubs They thougt i was from the US so when i start talking french they went crazy hahaha
Richard very insightful here. Japan in general (in my limited experience of 12 years travelling there) is much more accepting on "weirdos". As long as you are not a nuisance to others, you are pretty much accepted.
Thank you for saying this- th-cam.com/video/o4h5YI_A9rI/w-d-xo.html becuase people need to know theres a difference between people who will put up with you, or people who want to date you as a sport, or becuase its exotic, or whatever, and people who ACTUALLY want to get to know you to see if there is a potential relationship there.
What the black girl with the braids is experiencing is a direct result of the negative influences of our music culture. When you have female rappers that only rap about sex and selling their cat and being half naked in 90% of music videos you get situations like this.
Yeah, 03:55 right on 😂 From my experience it’s the same. Marriage will be difficult (which I’m not interested outside of marrying an african woman) but “having fun” is easy. Especially as there are japanese girls who only want to be with a black men in order to brag or just for “experience”.

Dread guy was cool. Very informative 👏

Please we need a part 2!
I've noticed that too. They like black culture, but not the men responsible for it. Smh. 😒
@@To411ulove the style, not the people
I was stationed in Yokosuka for 6 years.
@@EsoteriK1993thanks for reply makes sense, because in US women bullied men into dating woman their age, in other countries they don’t date old woman
This was an awesome watch, so hilarious too!
This pretty much applies everywhere, different cultures are new and attractive to others
So basically Blk Men and Blk Women have night and day experiences when it comes to dating.
Are we surprised, we know.
Idk about that, seemed similar in my experience too
Not really. Both are fetishised, it just seems like the guy was ok with it.
@@bouncyshak likely because men in general are more lax on establishing commitment
What do u mean by that? Like one night stand?
Richardo is hilarious, I love his TikTok content
his username ?
Also it works both way when it comes to fetishizing black culture and black people its the same way non japanese people love Japanese people because of Anime or other Japanese culture etc Like I see people say I want to date a Japanese or Korean person because I like Anime or K-Pop or K drama
Mainly a Gen Z thing but some millennials usually not all that popular are like this too.
Me too bro
You mean white men and women lol
No it’s not. There is some fetishisation going on but it’s not nearly to the same extent because the people interested in Japanese and Korean people generally are familiar with their culture. Even when they are fetishised they are seen as people (not just sex) and they are taken them seriously. Like you would never hear Japanese or korean people complaining about fetishisers telling them they’re good enough for sex, not marriage. There is a level of respect they are given even when fetishised that black people are not given and that’s just a fact. So let’s not try to equalise what is not equal.
Yea it seems like black and Asian people are the most sexualized. Especially black men and Asian women
Been seeing my fellow Cameroonians in more and more videos… Cameroon to the world
Shout out to Morgan from Alabama! You made it out the shit hole!
The last thing we need to be worried about right now is “does this group like us?”
agreed
“Please come to China 🇨🇳”. You'll be SHOCKED how ignorant people can be in this 21st Century.
Go ask some black people in the hood what they think of Asians and you will realize most people are just ignorant lmfao
they're strange folk. enough said.
" Club-going and being sexually open-minded" You sound very promiscuous lol, A Lapse of morals for sure.
@@Starfish-kx3du “Club-going” can potentially be promiscuous in nature, but being “sexually open-minded” doesn’t imply promiscuity. It just implies that you experiment with various acts, including monogamously.

Try other Asian countries. It's too late for me because I spent too much of my life studying Japanese. But I don't recommend pursuing Japanese women. Other Asian women will be much better for your sanity.
@@To411u well I’ll be looking for men in my case😅 but I’m sure the same might apply maybe

Also, I doubt she thought he was taking about her, just that she probably was hypersensitive about her own mental health problems.
That being said, completely ghosting him is wild and he definitely dodged a bullet there 😅.
He didn’t dodge a bullet because most Japanese women would ghost him in that situation. He should had just accepted the kiss and talk about it later

Thank you for making this video! I guess I will have to go to Japan for the 6th time and more in the future.
Amazing! I think this paints a very interesting perspective on what its like dating in Japan as a foreigner. I've never been to Japan before but I have had friends who lived in Japan and the dating stories ranged from esoteric to normal, very interesting indeed!
As a black man i see no reason to go to Japan for women.
They pretty just expounded upon what we all already knew....
I commend these people for exploring, but it seems like a task of qualifying yourself! Though it’s not our fault, it just seems a bit exhausting!🤝🏾

Did you only stay in Tokyo or did you go anywhere else? Osaka is pretty lit and is like their version of New York. And then Yokohama and Kyoto were also great places to visit.
In south america, the vibe is real cool as well. youd be shocked at home much u have in common with people whom arent from your culture
thanks so much for your content this helps me out alot. I will be visiting soon

What the black girl with the braids is experiencing is a direct result of the negative influences of our music culture. When you have female rappers that only rap about sex and selling their cat and being half naked in 90% of music videos you get situations like this.
