Many thanks D-Ray, I'm about to change my DF50's impeller for the first time so I found your film extremely helpful, especially all the extra detail such as remembering the gear linkage position and all the (minimal) greasing. Thanks again!

Awesome, thanks for the help with that part, I have another problem while on the water the other day I hit something and I think I broke a shear pin. The motor will reverse and back up with no problem but when shifted into forward all the motor does is just rev's the motor. I've taken the prop off and got down to the lower unit housing, now I need help. Thanks, George in NC

D-Ray, thank you for the video. It is very detailed and clear. I have 2 questions? 1-Does it matter which gear the shifter is in when you remove the collared nut to disconnect it? and also 2-Can you recommend the grease you use to lightly coat the inside of the impeller housing and the impeller. Thanks again

It will be mostly the same procedure, only difference being the shift linkage. You will need to drop your lower unit down a few inches to gain access to a clevis pin that attaches the shift rod to the lower unit.

D-Ray...Great video mate. Can you tell me if the DT30C has the same lower leg and therefore the same job? If it is, I reckon I could give it a go myself after watching your video. You make it look too easy. I'm in Australia and I love the fact that a bloke on the other side of the world can show me how to work on my outboard motor while I'm sitting in front of my computer. Awesome..Thanks.

I ran through the steps on your video, which was great and very helpful, however I think I’m having an issue with the clutch or upper end of my shifter, from the console the external lever on the side of the motor moves, however the shift rod does not move to change the gear in the lower end. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

great videos. I watched changing the oil video and tried this myself on a 250 yahmaha outboard and the drain plug stripped out the thread when I unscrewed it. I noticed a couple bolts holding in a flange on each side of the plug hole thread. Do you know if that will allow me to replace the thread or is is part of the casting? If it does, do you know of any tricks to get out the stainless bolts without snapping them off in the casting? A little heat maybe?

Hello, do you have any videos on the Dt 55 ? Replacing impeller but some videos show a rubber plug on side to disconnect things but mine doesn’t have that so wondering if it’s as easy as this one just undo the bolts a lower? It has remote shift and steering , any info would be appreciated
