    From my current experiences of raising some of the smallest fry, clown killifish, pseudomugil gertrudae aru ii etc, for the first week, a high percentage isn't able to eat and digest infusoria very well, unbelievably it seems to be still too big overall for then to consume readily. Green water cultures are absolutely magnificent to get the fry past the first 5 to 7 days, you can start trying to add infusoria from days 5 or so, but green water is a miracle! Hope this is helpful to someone somehow!

    Great video, I have just recently set up a heavily planted ciano aqua 60, I have recently added 10 kubotai rasbora and 10 blue jelly shrimp, I'm hoping that they all start breeding soon enough, I have added Indian almond leaves to tan the water and for all of the added benefits, some rocks and wood, there's plenty of places to hide for shrimplets and fry, it's just a waiting game for me now, I have a sponge filter specified for up to 240 litres, I have added seachem stability and API leaf zone to boost it all, I'm roughly 1 month in so far and everything is going well 😄

      Your new aquarium sounds great. Hope you have success in breeding your rasbora and shrimp. Let me know how you get on.

    I’ve been thinking about breeding some CPD’s and some of these if I can get my hands on them. The neon greens are particularly scarce here in Aus, but I was thinking of making an egg trap or syphon to remove the eggs so I could raise them in trays to target feed a bit easier. But top notch vid was great info and camera work.

    Amazing information, cheers for the guide, fantastic work. Wanted to say I find jackfruit leaves are far better than catappa, better antibacterial properties, last longer, more nutrients and don't give much tannins to the water👍 Congrats on the 100 subs 😉

    My guess for the deaths was simply starvation. There needs to be clouds of infusoria available all the time in the tank - I put at least 0.5 pint in the tank each day with the likes of tetras etc. there are a number of videos on my channel showing how much I feed such small fry. Nice video 👍

    • @TropicalFishBasics

      Thanks for your comment, I think your right, I will feed more infusoria in the future. Thanks for the advise, I will check out your channel.

    If you are going to blame water quality, then you need to tell us what the quality was like. Ammonia? Nitrite? Hot weather shouldn't really affect them unless the temperature rises above 29°C, in which case you should increase the aeration. IME it's the size of the foods and the density of the food that matters. For those of us who are looking to breed this species in the future, your experiences would be helpful.

    ive seen mine do the rapid spin after what looked like spawn, but its so quick my eyes are so bad and i couldnt see any eggs. they are in a planted tank all the time so i doubt any would survive. im going to get a spawning tank set up and see what happens. love these little fish, would love to get them going

      @@TropicalFishBasics i found a baby today in the jar of water i set up for infusoria. i put water change water in a bucket a week or so ago to "season" a filter and can see 3 or 4 fry free swimming in there. cant wait to get a proper set up and breed them. :)

    Hi, does they bred the in the start of the lighting period (morning) like other danionins or during all the day?

      @@TropicalFishBasics thanks, well I need to see if mine does it too. Sometimes a male is defending my moss spot in my tank, but never saw kubotai breeding in the moss unlike my CPD. I don’t have any other tank, so I count on a big moss to hide any fry, unsuccessful for now even for CPD. Might be water being too hard. Kubotai are for now hardier than my CPD and some sites says they can live in hard water as they have don’t like very soft water but require atleast 5-10GH

    What was the temperature and PH?

    • @TropicalFishBasics
      @TropicalFishBasics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ph was 7.2 and Tempterature was 24°C. We had some hot weather and I noticed on one of these days the temperature was showing 29°C. I had been loosing some fry each day. Because of my work I was unable to keep an eye on the temperature during the hottest times of the day. The tank is not in direct sunlight.

      @TropicalFishBasics you did a great job in getting these too spawn. You going to do a series with other fish?

    • @TropicalFishBasics
      @TropicalFishBasics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, The only problem for me is I only have space for one breeding tank at moment. So I have to wait for the fry to grow big enough to place in my other tank so they won't get eaten.
