Hi from New Zealand! Great video on CPD. I'm about to try breeding my glowlight danio so this is very helpful to see your process, especially how you hatch out the fry - I will be trying your net setup as it looks like you get great success there. Look forward to seeing your CPD develop over the coming months!
Thank you for the video and all the valuable information! I keep and breed them myself and I use a similar method. One question though: did you notice that with the CPD´s there is a swimbladder issue when you raise them? i´m curious because I do. In all the different stages of age one day to the other some of them start to swim and jiggle vertically to the surface because they can´t no longer keep their balance. There is nothing I can do about it and it lasts until they die from starving or bent spine. Did you have any experiences like that? greetings from Germamy
I have seen a few with swim bladder but not a lot. I notice when it does occur it's at a fry stage only. I personally believe it's a developmental issue as fry. I notice that rasbora fry darts to the top after hatching just like bettas. I always assumed they were inhaling protien slick at the top of the tank. I always try to keep a lot of movement on top to prevent that layer. When I use to breed more designer bettas I was noticing lots of swim bladder issue but I was doing a real low flow and raising in 5 gallon tanks. I find I have better success raising fry in bigger tanks.
They shouldn't. But when it comes to breeding, I prefer just to have 1 species per tank. Also, a lot of meds are toxic to shrimp. So I really don't like to mix shrimp with my fish in case I have to treat fish with meds.
That happens to me, too. The problem is that the eggs were never fertile to begin with if they turned white. You could hatch in methane blue if they are fertile and just developing fungus or throw the eggs in with some shrimp.good luck!
So, breeding tiger barbs is not to hard. To get the genetics that I have found, hidden in the platinum could be more challenging or not. I can't say for sure yet. I bought more from a different source to spawn to see if the same genetics are in play across the board or just a freak occurrence.
thanks for this amazing vídeo. Greetings from Dominicsn Republic. I have a question... Where can i get the food for the fry? . Ken's veggie waffers. I see another presentation in Amazon
Kensfish is where i get a lot of my food. Best thing for fry is hatching baby brine shrimp. If your gonna buy baby brine to hatch out buy the can for like 50 bucks. Last a very long time.
Do you think I’ll have luck with my one male and two females? I have tried adding more so many times and they always die from illness, I know it’s not my water/tank because I’ve had these 3 for 8 months but any I try to add to their colony end up dead. So I’m thinking maybe I can breed what I have? That is if the other tank mates don’t eat all of the babies
@@P4hko I’m certain that’s what’s happening, therefore it’s just made me cautious in buying anymore. I just got myself a quarantine tank so as soon as that’s cycled I might try picking up some more and quarantine them first. Until that’s cycled, I got some Süsswassertang for the display tank for a breeding area for my 3
I primarily fed them freshly hatched baby brine. On lazy days, I would occasionally do flakes or frozen baby brine. Just because their mouths are so tiny.
It's not what your doing wrong but what your missing. What size tank are you growing them out in? How often are you feeding and what are you feeding? How often are you doing water changes and how long are your lights on?

Thank you, much appreciated. Let me know how you make out!
Excellant information, the galaxy’s fry are microscopic! Great job raising them up, I’m getting an appreciation for nano fish!⭐️
Nice video. I like the encouragement at the end. Cheers mate!
Thank you!

Any reason you dont have shrimp in your tanks? Theres no fear of them eating the eggs or live fry, right?
They shouldn't. But when it comes to breeding, I prefer just to have 1 species per tank. Also, a lot of meds are toxic to shrimp. So I really don't like to mix shrimp with my fish in case I have to treat fish with meds.
what do you do to keep the eggs from getting fungus? I can collect the eggs no problem but they turn white very quickly
That happens to me, too. The problem is that the eggs were never fertile to begin with if they turned white. You could hatch in methane blue if they are fertile and just developing fungus or throw the eggs in with some shrimp.good luck!
How challenging would breeding TIGER BARBS be in this design of yours ? i would only want to breed tiger barbs.

Very helpful, thanks a lot!
Would feeding them Hikari First Bites for the first few days work too? Thanks for the video very informative
Thank you. You can do hikari first bites, but you will not get rapid growth.

How many times a day do you feed the fries?
3 times a day for the first month to grow them out faster.
Very good tutorial.
Thank you

It's gonna be tough trying to breed them in a community tank. Just depends what's in there. 3 is definitely enough to breed. Give it a shot!!!
Would guess just from that info that they probably got ill from transport or chock but idk might be somthing else but sounds like the most logical

What do you feed the babies ? I got 3 from local pet store.
I primarily fed them freshly hatched baby brine. On lazy days, I would occasionally do flakes or frozen baby brine. Just because their mouths are so tiny.
@@fivestarbettas8710 thanks for your reply! It’s much appreciated
nice fish mate ❤
Thank you
great content!
Thank you!
what you feed the broodstock and how many times a day? What ph you keep the breeding ones?
Baby brine, frozen daphnia or frozen brine usually just once a day.if I'm lucky twice a day. Ph is at 7.00 for the breeders.
@@fivestarbettas8710 Thank you very much☺️
No problem. Good luck!
70% of my eggs are fongusing
😥. How do i prevennt them from fongusing?
@Olmedo Acosta walk me through what you're doing with the eggs?
You don’t mention your water parameters - what are your pH, KH and DH?
Ph 7.0
Kh 7.00
Dh 255 ppm
@@fivestarbettas8710 thank you 🤓👍
@Paul’s Fishroom no problem, sorry for the late response. Didn't realize I had a message. Happy breeding!!!
