I came to the U.S. some 40 years ago, and I admired the U.S. for a long time because of Americans like Jimmy Carter. I love the U.S. of Jimmy Carter, Jeff Daniels, Michelle Obama, Norman Lear, Liz Cheney, etc. Actively looking to find a new home in Europe or South America until we get back to Jimmy Carter’s version of the U.S. … a true great America, not what these MAGA idiots are trying to make us look like. Let’s hope we get back to being a place where people want to come to. Cheers!

Jimmy Carter-a great human being. Mark-thanks for the post and sharing your thoughts. Habitat for Humanity is a great organization and my wife and I give at every opportunity. We know for a certainty that the money goes directly to adding to the quality of life for those in dire need. Hopefully, the coming celebration for Jimmy Carter will completely take all the oxygen out of Dirty Diaper Don's inauguration. A great opportunity for Democrats to hold up as an example Jimmy Carter's life well lived against Trump's life of perversion, criminality and profoundly low character. Thank you Mark for your trenchant remarks and thoughts about our suffering political system. All the best to you and your family for the New Year.

I voted for Jimmy Carter and thought he was a very fine leader for America. Still do. He was forward looking and to this day his ideas and vision are still right-on. But oh did the insider "elites" put him down! And gave him undeservedly bad press. Well, he's the proof that it's the character of the person, and not politics or pundits, that brings respect. And what a life! Truth and honesty were the foundations for all his 100 years. RIP Jimmy Carter... Thank you for your deep humanity and kind, loving spirit.

In Canada Jimmy Carter is a hero. In 1950 our Chalk River nuclear plant had a disaster and they called on specialists in the US for help. Jimmy Carter was a US Navy lieutenant and one of a team that each had to be lowered into a radioactive zone, do some repair work and be completely out in 90 seconds. He had radioactive urine for weeks, and was told he'd never have children. He ended up having 4.

My niece volunteered at the Carter Foundation and was asked by him to come up there on a Sunday to help unload a truck full of wood. He was going to build a display case/shelving for some of the things given to him over the years. He was given a quote to have it done but it was too much money as far as he concerned. He figured the money saved was better used for habitat for humanity. This was when he was about 80. The man never stop giving of himself or caring about his fellow man. He was truly a great man.

Jimmy Carter's presidency stood out in American history. Even though he served only one term, he was an exemplary example of dignity, love of country, and commitment to service. I never doubted his credibility - not for one minute. His willingness to concede truth to his struggles and failures strengthened my respect for him. He and Walter Mondale were a team that represented hard work, responsibility, and a genuine focus on the welfare of the American people. What a stunning and tragic contrast to the two people who will be sworn in next month.
When Mr. Carter was defeated in 1980, he did not return to Georgia a bitter man. Instead, he began an impressive post-presidential life driven by the same values of service, commitment, and faith. His vision was manifested both at home and across the globe. Even in his 80s, he didn't stop putting tools in his hands to build homes for those who needed them. He never stopped believing that peace was a goal worth achieving.
Thank you, President Carter, for being an expiring example of decency, sincerity, and honesty. You will continue to remind us that politicians do not need to devolve into cowardice, lying, and greed. That is a choice too many of them are makaing. The American people were blessed that you did not make that choice.

I've recently found your channel and greatly enjoy your passionate diatribes, railing against the current state of American politics.
President Carter was the last honest president. He was a truly decent and admirable person. One can chart the downfall of our country once Reagan took over; it's not a pretty picture. I recommend going back and watching the "Crisis of Confidence" speech with a view toward our current situation. Which American politician, especially one in a top role, would have the guts to say those things? Even a shift manager at McDonald's understands that, as a leader, one needs to clearly and honestly identify a problem before it can be remedied.
