His long life and many accomplishments post presidency, where he could have just bowed out of public service completely, proves his heart was in the right place and he was / is a man of great honor. Did you live through his presidency? A weak economy with 13% mortgage rates don't serve ANY people well. Long gas lines don't either. A strong president doesn't allow dozens of embassy staff to be taken hostage; yes, they may have finally been released but it was after Iran knew no-nonsense Reagan was going to be the new sheriff in town. Carter may have meant well, but until Biden, he was almost unanimously considered the worst POTUS of our lifetimes. AND I will just say this as a fellow Southern Baptist: what kind of true Christian is pro-abortion (as this Sunday School teacher was)? We're all sinners and we're all flawed but Carter was a horrible President.

    President Jimmy Carter lived 100 years and did a lot of good for the least of these around the globe.
    The man who you said traunced him in the presidential candidate did nothing for no one, nothing.
    The man was a down to earth human beings, who put the interest of ppl above his own.
    Suddenly, the country and the world are concerned about climate change etc.
    What a man.
    He's known all over the world for his good deeds.
    May his spirit see the Light of God Almighty. Amen.

    I doubt Congress ever knew a decent, law abiding, God-fearing, faithful and honorable man like Jimmy Carter. I'm sure his goodness was a double edged sword at times but it also worked for him and for us. God gave us a wonderful human being and we had him for 100 years. He did so much for the world but now, he has gone to meet his God and be reunited with the love of his life, Rosalynn.

    Jimmy Carter faced tough challenges as president, but I believe he handled them with integrity and doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He worked tirelessly to secure the release of the hostages, but the timing of their release felt like deliberate gamesmanship to deny him the recognition he earned. He was a good man who lived his values and made the world a better place. A life well lived. Rest in peace.

    Jimmy Carter was a great man of peace who in fact was the one responsible for freeing the American Hostages held in Iran. Reagan got the credit but Carter negotiated their release just days before Reagan took power. Carter truly cared .. he was mature and very wise but his lack of flash and big talk earned him the negative reputation sadly. RIP Sir !!!

    Rest in peace, Jimmy Carter. My grandparents and all of my mom’s family, except for my mom, decided/had to move from MN to Texas because of the inflation via Carter presidency. They were not wealthy, initially had a farm in ND, and once no longer affordable, grandpa started working “odd jobs” to pay the bills family of 5 kids in Whapeton, MN. That’s where my parents met, and my other Grandpa, denied him a loan (broker), because “why would you ask if you can’t even afford it, Ken?”. My grandfather was a faithful man to the end , never gave up on his family, and turned out okay. That was humiliating for my grandpa and to this day my mom won’t forget that. My grandpa became a trucker, and unfortunately this presidency is why I don’t get to spend valuable time with the people that I love so much, and could’ve grown so much from. Jimmy Carter was the president from hell, as I see it. I think he was an ignorant man with many “good” intentions. God bless them, and I pray for their place in heaven.

    It is a gross misconception that the economy under Carter was "dismal". Yes, there was a major recession that began during the last year of his administration but we must not judge Carter's legacy by just one bad year. Average annual economic growth under Carter was 3.4%; that's higher than the average annual economic growth under Reagan. More jobs were created per year under Carter than any other post-war president. And the debt-to-GDP ratio was lowest under Carter over the past 100 years. To be sure, Carter also committed serious errors like the Soviet grain embargo, the pardoning of Vietnam War draft dodgers and deserters, the Airline Deregulation Act, and the Iran hostage crisis. But Carter was a much better president than many people believe and I hope now that he's passed away that historians will reconsider his legacy.

      I love President Carter. But there`s one thing that bothers me about his presidency. He was the first democratic president who walked away from the New Deal coalition. Instead of investing in welfare, social security and other social programs he made cuts. But overall, he is an underrated president. The work that he and Rosalyn did after president Carters retirement was outstanding. Habitat for humanity, the Carter Center, and all he did for human rights and world peace was impressive. The Nobel Peace Prize was deserved.

    • @georgfriedrichhandel4390
      @georgfriedrichhandel4390 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yellyman5483 That's not exactly true. President Carter proposed a guaranteed minimum income, a federal job guarantee for the unemployed, a negative income tax, and direct cash payments to aid recipients but Congress rejected almost all his proposals. Carter also sought tax reform in order to create a simpler, more progressive taxation system. He proposed taxing capital gains as ordinary income, eliminating tax shelters, limiting itemized tax deductions, and increasing the standard deduction. Carter's taxation proposals were rejected by Congress, and no major tax reform bill was passed. However, IMO one of President Carter's biggest mistakes was not supporting Ted Kennedy's UHC proposal because Carter wanted to introduce a change in that bill that assured that private insurance companies would play a larger role in providing coverage. But despite that, more than 90% of all Americans had health insurance under Carter.

      @@georgfriedrichhandel4390 He had a democratic house and senate when he was president. It`s a shame that his own party didn`t support his agenda.

    • @georgfriedrichhandel4390
      @georgfriedrichhandel4390 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yellyman5483 The Democratic Party has done President Carter wrong in many ways. As you said, the party did not support Carter's agenda during his presidency. In 1980, Senator Kennedy challenged Carter for the Democratic nomination, thus all but assuring a victory for Reagan that year (whenever an incumbent president is challenged during the primaries, he has always lost. It has also happened to Ford in 1976, George HW Bush in 1992, and to Biden this year). And then the party refused to allow any Democratic candidate for public office to be seen with Carter in subsequent elections. The only time Carter publicly spoke in favor of a Democratic candidate was when he endorsed Obama in a television spot during the Convention in 2012, 32 years after Carter had left office. The party all but ostracized President Carter after 1980 instead of trying to defend his record. If it had, Carter would not have such a negative legacy today.
