A true humanitarian has left us to be reunited with the love of his life. Rest in peace Mr. President!
I hope not
HUMANITARIAN men don't say this: “We would do a disservice to Khomeini to consider him simply as a symbol of segregated education and an opponent to women's rights," Jimmy Carter’s White House. 1978
Another quit calm person, rest in peace
He was lucid to the end.
There is no rest in passing. Only absence. Nothing remains.
A man who was berated by so many “patriots” for being weak, yet he did more than most could ever dream of in their lifetime. President Carter did so much in his Presidency and post Presidency and we owe him a true debt of immense gratitude

a champion of peace, an advocate for humanity, a man who tried. Thank you President Carter, rest well
Not a perfect leader, but certainly a perfect man.

Very well put. A man who tried, that’s really all we can ask of our public servants, isn’t it? To honestly try to make things better for others.
🙏🏼RIP President Carter🙏🏼
We’ll never have a man like you on this Earth again! Our world was great because of the man you were beyond public service. You will be missed dearly.
while mostly treated unkind during his term, I believe history will judge Mr. Carter very well. His long life and many accomplishments post presidency, where he could have just bowed out of public service completely, proves his heart was in the right place and he was / is a man of great honor. Thank you Mr. Carter - you've left an incredible legacy and one for which you will remain proud for generations to come.

He was truly a very special person who dedicated his life to service. A life well lived.
Well said !!
@ why’d you delete your comment? Embarrassed?
He should be known as the President who gave away the Panama Canal, inflation, gas lines and "the rescue that failed," a foolish scheme to drive thrown Downtown Tehran, Iran and free embassy hostages! An accident in the desert prevented the attempt, which probably resulted in more deaths!!
He’s not curse at all, he is blessed, he lived to old age with sanity, with the love of his by his side for over 77 years, he lived a simple life but has all the real wealth in the world.

Did you live through his presidency? A weak economy with 13% mortgage rates don't serve ANY people well. Long gas lines don't either. A strong president doesn't allow dozens of embassy staff to be taken hostage; yes, they may have finally been released but it was after Iran knew no-nonsense Reagan was going to be the new sheriff in town. Carter may have meant well, but until Biden, he was almost unanimously considered the worst POTUS of our lifetimes. @@drachenmarke you are right i did forget about that part since i was barely alive. I guess my point is he doesn't seem like he was a weasel type person. Obviously a lot of stuff happened that wasn't completely in his control and he handled it the best he could. Unless he has $40 million stashed away I am impressed at how he lived a modest life but used his status to try to improve people's lives both here and abroad instead using his post presidency as a cynical money grab.
Carter certainly did not come into an ideal situation. He did the best he could under the circumstances with a strong determination, honesty, and pure class. He could admit his faults. He made his decisions all on good faith.
Jimmy Carter was one of the few Presidents who did not want to play by the book. Many (if not most) people in Washington disliked it and did their best to sabotage any form of efforts. Yes, he might not be a strong President on paper, but he was often on the right track. And certainly he was just a decent man up until the very end.

Radical right Republicans called him a peanut farmer to undermine his integrity and intelligence. Yet, he was more than anyone could have imagined. Jimmy Carter was a humanitarian who worked tirelessly to avoid conflict and wars. He was a wonderful man - a man of the people. All the best to President Carter’s family, from Scotland. 🏴
He was a nuclear engineer, and risked his life in Canada when he was in naval service. There was a nuclear leak in a town, and Carter went in and fixed whatever needed to be done. He was exposed to radiation, and had to be tested for years afterwards.
People also fail to acknowledge that Herbert Hoover was a great humanitarian
Peanut farming is as tough as any type of farming.....He was also a nuclear engineer....etc
The best leaders are always deemed the forgotten or 'failed' leaders by the press, Carter was no exception. What an amazing man.

It's easy to measure strength in military action and force, and call President Carter weak as it relates to the Iranian hostage crisis. However, strength can also be measured in one's own restraint and patience, despite wielding immense power. In this way, I'd say Carter was a very strong president, and true to his religious views.
Also, it's "easy" to call him weak on Iran when one doesn't know the behind-the-scenes shenanigans done by Reagan and his minions to delay the hostages' release.

To undermine Jimmy's chances of re-election and secure a second term for himself. This is a dirty tactic that Trump employed after his own loss.

I doubt Congress ever knew a decent, law abiding, God-fearing, faithful and honorable man like Jimmy Carter. I'm sure his goodness was a double edged sword at times but it also worked for him and for us. God gave us a wonderful human being and we had him for 100 years. He did so much for the world but now, he has gone to meet his God and be reunited with the love of his life, Rosalynn.
Jimmy Carter faced tough challenges as president, but I believe he handled them with integrity and doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He worked tirelessly to secure the release of the hostages, but the timing of their release felt like deliberate gamesmanship to deny him the recognition he earned. He was a good man who lived his values and made the world a better place. A life well lived. Rest in peace.
It's been reported that the Repubs struck a deal with Iran that the hostages would not be released till the day of Reagan's inauguration.
The hostages were definitely held for Reagan's benefit, look up 'Ben Barnes NYT' (NY Times article from 2023)
Jimmy Carter was a great man of peace who in fact was the one responsible for freeing the American Hostages held in Iran. Reagan got the credit but Carter negotiated their release just days before Reagan took power. Carter truly cared .. he was mature and very wise but his lack of flash and big talk earned him the negative reputation sadly. RIP Sir !!!
He came here to do what he was created to do and so... he did! Was he perfect as a president, no, but none of us are! He did much for many and gave of himself for others! Rest and peace to you, President Carter.
He is right! Superpower of “PEACE”! The image of being bully , fear and brutal killers is bad image to the world today!

Its quite interesting to learn that President Carter is the only former president Trump called for advice during his first term in office. President Trump also payed tribute to Carter when he died, and that doesn`t often happen with Trump.
@ Carter was fair with Trump. Tough, but fair. He made arguments against him, but it never seemed personal or needlessly divisive
Rest in peace, Jimmy Carter. My grandparents and all of my mom’s family, except for my mom, decided/had to move from MN to Texas because of the inflation via Carter presidency. They were not wealthy, initially had a farm in ND, and once no longer affordable, grandpa started working “odd jobs” to pay the bills family of 5 kids in Whapeton, MN. That’s where my parents met, and my other Grandpa, denied him a loan (broker), because “why would you ask if you can’t even afford it, Ken?”. My grandfather was a faithful man to the end , never gave up on his family, and turned out okay. That was humiliating for my grandpa and to this day my mom won’t forget that. My grandpa became a trucker, and unfortunately this presidency is why I don’t get to spend valuable time with the people that I love so much, and could’ve grown so much from. Jimmy Carter was the president from hell, as I see it. I think he was an ignorant man with many “good” intentions. God bless them, and I pray for their place in heaven.

He was so nice
"We went through four years where we never fired a bullet, dropped a bomb, or launched a missile. I thought the U.S. as a superpower should be a champion of peace"
It is a gross misconception that the economy under Carter was "dismal". Yes, there was a major recession that began during the last year of his administration but we must not judge Carter's legacy by just one bad year. Average annual economic growth under Carter was 3.4%; that's higher than the average annual economic growth under Reagan. More jobs were created per year under Carter than any other post-war president. And the debt-to-GDP ratio was lowest under Carter over the past 100 years. To be sure, Carter also committed serious errors like the Soviet grain embargo, the pardoning of Vietnam War draft dodgers and deserters, the Airline Deregulation Act, and the Iran hostage crisis. But Carter was a much better president than many people believe and I hope now that he's passed away that historians will reconsider his legacy.
Not to mention his creation of the departments of energy and of education and his negotiation of the camp David accord.
I love President Carter. But there`s one thing that bothers me about his presidency. He was the first democratic president who walked away from the New Deal coalition. Instead of investing in welfare, social security and other social programs he made cuts. But overall, he is an underrated president. The work that he and Rosalyn did after president Carters retirement was outstanding. Habitat for humanity, the Carter Center, and all he did for human rights and world peace was impressive. The Nobel Peace Prize was deserved.
@@yellyman5483 That's not exactly true. President Carter proposed a guaranteed minimum income, a federal job guarantee for the unemployed, a negative income tax, and direct cash payments to aid recipients but Congress rejected almost all his proposals. Carter also sought tax reform in order to create a simpler, more progressive taxation system. He proposed taxing capital gains as ordinary income, eliminating tax shelters, limiting itemized tax deductions, and increasing the standard deduction. Carter's taxation proposals were rejected by Congress, and no major tax reform bill was passed. However, IMO one of President Carter's biggest mistakes was not supporting Ted Kennedy's UHC proposal because Carter wanted to introduce a change in that bill that assured that private insurance companies would play a larger role in providing coverage. But despite that, more than 90% of all Americans had health insurance under Carter.
@@georgfriedrichhandel4390 He had a democratic house and senate when he was president. It`s a shame that his own party didn`t support his agenda.
@@yellyman5483 The Democratic Party has done President Carter wrong in many ways. As you said, the party did not support Carter's agenda during his presidency. In 1980, Senator Kennedy challenged Carter for the Democratic nomination, thus all but assuring a victory for Reagan that year (whenever an incumbent president is challenged during the primaries, he has always lost. It has also happened to Ford in 1976, George HW Bush in 1992, and to Biden this year). And then the party refused to allow any Democratic candidate for public office to be seen with Carter in subsequent elections. The only time Carter publicly spoke in favor of a Democratic candidate was when he endorsed Obama in a television spot during the Convention in 2012, 32 years after Carter had left office. The party all but ostracized President Carter after 1980 instead of trying to defend his record. If it had, Carter would not have such a negative legacy today.
He was right on everything!
