      I can. I was an altar boy for a brief time. The priest once invited my brother and I into the residential quarters in the back for a "special treat" after the service. We never got the treat, because my Dad showed up unexpectedly. I still recall the look of panic upon seeing my Dad. Its as if Dad knew of the potential.
      I must ask myself, If he hadn't shown up to ruin the priest's only chance, would our Dad have to choose who to believe ?

      The movie "SPOTLIGHT" is a true story ...and only covers BOSTON. For those that religious people people who think this is all a joke ....SHAME ON YOU .....PARTICULARLY ALL CATHOLICS!!!! Say nothing and YOU ARE ALL COMPLICIT!!!!
      We have now found out about potentially and estimated over 20,000 native children in Canada, since the early 1900's, in what was called "RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS" allegedly set up by the Canadian FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS OF THE DAY, for the many decades, AND PRINICIPALLY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, ASSIGNED TO RUN THEM.
      UNMARKED GRAVES AT OR NEAR THESE SCHOOLS IS NOW THE DISCOVERY SURFACING ....APPARENTLY THANKS TO GROUND RADAR SEARCH TECHNIQUES ....WITH THE RESULTS OF HUNDREDS OF REMAINS BEING DISCOVERED!!!!
      EVERY FEDERAL CANADIAN GOVERNMENT (PRIME MINISTERS AND ASSIGNED MINISTERS) OF THE DAY, AND CATHOLIC PEOPLE ACROSS CANADA AT THESE SCHOOLS AND PARTICULARLY IN OTTAWA, ALONG WITH EVERY RCMP DETACHMENT ACROSS CANADA IS SUSPECT.
      WITHOUT A DOUBT, EVERY CANADIAN GOVERNMENT THROUGHOUT THE DECADES HAS FAILED TO DO WHAT IS NECESSARY. AT THE TOP OF THIS LIST OF INDIVIDUALS WILL BE EVERY RCMP CHIEF ACROSS CANADA AS WELL.
      IT IS TIME TO PUT AN END TO THIS AND FORCE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH TO RELEASE ALL THEIR DOCUMENTS IMMEDIATELY. APOLOGIES FROM THIS CHURCH ARE COMPLETELY MEANINGLESS AND WITHOUT ANY SINCERITY, HENCE A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME.
      IT IS TIME TO NAME ALL THESE CHURCH "OFFICIALS" FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM, WHO WERE IN ATTENDANCE AT EVERY ONE OF THESE RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS THROUGH THESE MANY DECADES .....AS WELL AS EVERY GOVERNMENT LEADER AND MINISTER ....AND EVERY RCMP OFFICIAL.
      IF GOVERNMENTS AND POLICE GROUPS ARE NOT PREPARED TO PURSUE THESE OFFENDERS, THEN THEY ARE COMPLICIT IN THESE CRIMES AND SHOULD ALSO BE LEGALLY CHARGED ACCORDINGLY.

      @@taxicamel A CATHOLIC PRIEST WRITES TO THE NEW YORK TIMES - MARCH 2015
      Dear Brother Journalist:
      I am a simple Catholic Priest. I am happy & proud of my vocation. I've been living in Angola for 20 years as a Missionary. I have read in a number of publications, especially in your newspaper, the amplified stories of paedophilic Priests, always portrayed in a morbid way with detailed research into past errors in the lives of these Priests.
      There was one, in a city in the USA in the 70’s; another in Australia in the 80’s; & so forth, some more recent…. Certainly, all these incidents were condemnable!
      …I feel enormous sadness about the immense harm that some men who should have been signs of the Love of God have been swords in the lives of innocent children. There are no words to justify such acts. There is no doubt that the Church must be on the side of the weak & most vulnerable. For that reason, all the measures that can be taken to prevent these acts & protect the dignity of the children should be an absolute priority.
      But, isn’t it strange that there is so little news & such lack of interest in the thousands of Priests who are sacrificing their lives daily & dedicating themselves, body & soul, to millions of children, to adolescents & to the most disadvantaged of these in all four corners of the world?
      I am sure the following would be of no interest to your newspaper:
      That I've had to transport many starving children along roads that were mined during the 2002 war… in Angola, because the government has been unable to do it & NGO’s have not been authorised;
      That I've had to bury dozens of children displaced by the war;
      That we have saved the lives of thousands in Mexico by running the only health centre within a zone of 90,000sq.km & by distributing food & grain;
      That we have been able to procure education & schools for more than 110,000 children in the last 10 years;
      It passes without interest that, along with other Priests, we have had to rescue nearly 12,000 people in guerrilla camps, after they were forced to give up their weapons because the UN & government food never arrived;
      It’s not an interesting news item that a 75year old Priest, Fr. Roberto, traveled all across the city of Luanda, caring for street children, guiding them to safe houses, so that they could be detoxed from the gasoline they inhaled while earning their living as flame throwers;
      Teaching literacy skills to hundreds of prisoners is no longer news;
      The other Priests, like Fr. Stephan, organise safe houses, so that the young, maltreated, beaten & even raped can find refuge there;
      Nor is it of any interest that Fr. Maiato, 80 years old, visits homes for the poor, one by one, comforting the sick & vulnerable;
      Today, it’s not news that out of 40,000 Priests & religious, more that 6,000 have left their countries & their families to serve their brothers in leper colonies, in hospitals, in refugee camps, in orphanages for children accused of sorcery or whose parents have died from AIDS,…. etc.
      Or, especially, that most Priests are spending their lives in Parishes & Missions, motivating people to live better and, more importantly, to love better;
      It's not news that my friend, Fr. Marcus Aurelius, in order to save children during the war in Angola, transported them from Kalulo to Dondo, & that, when returning to his Mission house, he was machine-gunned on the road; that Br. Francis, with 5 female catechists died in an accident on their way to help in the most remote rural areas of the country;
      That dozens of Missionaries in Angola have died from simple malaria because of poor sanitation;
      That others have been blown to bits by mines while visiting their faithful; currently, in the cemetery of Kalulo, lie the tombs of the first Priests who arrived in the area …none of them older than 40;
      It's not news to follow a “normal” Priest doing his daily work; experiencing his troubles & his joys, spending his whole life with no attention in the community he serves.
      The truth is, that we are not trying to make news, only simply, to bring the “Good News”; this News which, with no fanfare, began on ‘Easter Morning’. A tree that falls makes more noise than a thousand which stand & grow (talking about a ‘fallen’ Priest).
      A great deal more attention is paid to a Priest who commits an error than to the thousands who give their lives for the myriads of poor & needy. I don’t pretend to apologise for the Church & its Priests.
      A Priest is neither a hero nor a neurotic. He’s simply a normal man, who, with his human nature, seeks to follow Jesus & to serve Him by serving others. There is in us misery, poverty & fragility, as there is in every human being; but there is also beauty & grandeur, as there is in every creature.
      When you insist on advancing such a painful theme in an obsessive & persecuting manner, while ignoring the bigger picture of their work, you create truly offensive caricatures of Catholic Priests, & these wound me.
      I ask only, dear Journalist, that you look for the true, the good & the beautiful. It would greatly elevate your profession.
      In Christ,
      Fr. Martin Lasarte, SDB
      (“My past, Lord, I entrust to Your Mercy; my present to Your Love; my future to Your Providence”)

      What the church's have to realise, they are being kept alive by the 30,s 40, s generations!! Their is no total dependancy on them anymore? Too many charities, who can fulfill there' pressance!!! God is there for every living person, everywhere! We don't need buildings? The men who have postions in religious capacity, are pauper's! Paid by a very old tradition,? But they still give their souls to God. They are wasted in an institution, that still deprives themselves and family of a decent wage to live on. Also it's about time my faith, non practising as I am allowed priests to marry,God never made rules, on any life! He just asked us to pray? Believe in our lord, read the Bible. it's crazy in this day and age, some religions hasn't moved on. I'm open to every comment, that wants to reply...

      @@christinalock9937 Please don't take this in the wrong way but I am just wondering what pay or buildings or any of the other things you mentioned have to do with the subject matter of this video? A person, in or out of the religious field, either has morals, principles, decency, real love (not the huggy, feelie, kissie, touching thing that so many mistake for love) for humanity or they don't. Those characteristics are not dependent on how much someone is paid or their place of employment.
      To take advantage of an innocent child in this way is evil. The people who perpetrate this evil and the ones who cover it up are an abomination. They lack character, decency and should be, in my opinion, taken to a remote island and dropped off where they cannot harm children. None of this shuffling from one place to another. They can practice their deviant behavior on each other. Oh, there are plenty of married deviants so letting the priests get married isn't going to solve the problem either. This type of behavior can be found lots of places other than the Catholic Church -- all denominations, social services, community recreation departments, Scouting programs, schools, anywhere where there are children. Parents, grandparents, step-parents, any relative or family friend can carry out this evil. it all boils down to evil thoughts and evil thoughts come in all shapes and sizes to everyone. It depends on whether one listens to those evil thoughts and acts on them. PERIOD. The Bible tells us to RESIST THE DEVIL and he will flee from you. It also says if your right hand offends you, cut it off, and, not to be overcome with evil but to overcome evil with good. A lot of these types position themselves in places where they can work their evil deeds, it's premeditated. If they WILL NOT control themselves they need to be taken to that island I mentioned or undergo a lobotomy. Innocent children should not have to suffer because these people think evil thoughts and act on them for their own sinful, warped sense pleasure.
      Oh, one other thing. The 10 commandments are the rules and they came from God for our benefit.

    I was raised in a Roman-catholic family , my father was a very devout man but he was not blind. He discussed about politics with our priest and though I was a small girl I liked it to be around. This happened in the sixties when the Vietnam war took place and the students demonstrated against the war. I was lucky , nobody ever abused me and our catholic community was strong. We went on vacations several times and it was really wonderful. Now there is no community anymore .How horrible for the victims what they were going through.
    When I was a young grown-up woman my father told me that a priest mentioned to him that the Catholic church was paying for two illegitime children a priest would procreate. He was shocked and disgusted and so was I.
    Now I 'm still believing in God but not in the church anymore! Their members are in the most cases hypocrites!

      @Sandra Turajlich You are far better than him:A CATHOLIC PRIEST WRITES TO THE NEW YORK TIMES - MARCH 2015
      That I've had to transport many starving children along roads that were mined during the 2002 war… in Angola, because the government has been unable to do it & NGO’s have not been authorised;
      That I've had to bury dozens of children displaced by the war;
      That we have saved the lives of thousands in Mexico by running the only health centre within a zone of 90,000sq.km & by distributing food & grain;
      That we have been able to procure education & schools for more than 110,000 children in the last 10 years;
      It passes without interest that, along with other Priests, we have had to rescue nearly 12,000 people in guerrilla camps, after they were forced to give up their weapons because the UN & government food never arrived;
      It’s not an interesting news item that a 75year old Priest, Fr. Roberto, traveled all across the city of Luanda, caring for street children, guiding them to safe houses, so that they could be detoxed from the gasoline they inhaled while earning their living as flame throwers;
      Teaching literacy skills to hundreds of prisoners is no longer news;
      The other Priests, like Fr. Stephan, organise safe houses, so that the young, maltreated, beaten & even raped can find refuge there;
      Nor is it of any interest that Fr. Maiato, 80 years old, visits homes for the poor, one by one, comforting the sick & vulnerable;
      Today, it’s not news that out of 40,000 Priests & religious, more that 6,000 have left their countries & their families to serve their brothers in leper colonies, in hospitals, in refugee camps, in orphanages for children accused of sorcery or whose parents have died from AIDS,…. etc.
      Or, especially, that most Priests are spending their lives in Parishes & Missions, motivating people to live better and, more importantly, to love better;
      It's not news that my friend, Fr. Marcus Aurelius, in order to save children during the war in Angola, transported them from Kalulo to Dondo, & that, when returning to his Mission house, he was machine-gunned on the road; that Br. Francis, with 5 female catechists died in an accident on their way to help in the most remote rural areas of the country;
      That dozens of Missionaries in Angola have died from simple malaria because of poor sanitation;
      That others have been blown to bits by mines while visiting their faithful; currently, in the cemetery of Kalulo, lie the tombs of the first Priests who arrived in the area …none of them older than 40;
      It's not news to follow a “normal” Priest doing his daily work; experiencing his troubles & his joys, spending his whole life with no attention in the community he serves.
      (Taken from “Scandalous Mercy” by Sr. Emmanuel page 86-89)?

Roman Catholicism is simply sun worship. This is where the term "Mystery Babylon" from the Book of Revelation fits in perfectly.

This way the Church can get rid of its bad apples, and there are many many thousands of them. The statistics of abuse in the US and Canada of child abuse are astounding. From the Church's point of view it makes sense for the low echelons of the Church structure to take the punishment and not the senior people.

      That would only temporarily alleviate homelessness. You need to give homeless people skills, work clothes, affordable transportation, and jobs so that they can become self-sufficient. That doesn't even address any addictions or mental illness they may be suffering from. Sorry, that's just putting a bandaid on the real problem. Can't blame the churches for that.

      @@kitfairchild9784 Core reasoning being that they were encouraged to behave delusionally by traditionalist parents often in the case of homelessness. I just saw about a homeless arsonist being arrested at the beach of LA, who was obviously not caring about the fact that arsons never really produce afterlives, and the pandemic denying freedom marchers carrying crosses like smiley delusional sociopaths during a actual pandemic lockdown sure caused alot of otherwise preventable deaths, and pandemics never really produce afterlives, so you can easily blame the church for that.
      You can blame em for the killings of all those kids torn from their families and placed into catholic conversion schools even.
      If you cant blame willful ignorance, are you correct to accuse anyone or group that acts like a political mafia that sells bombs to boost an economy?
      And those bombs tend to land on people who have stockholm syndrome who were poorly raised to want to overly pretend that bombs produce happy afterlives, or 9/11 hijacked jets, or when those arsons that end up killing atheists that slept in their homes while afterlife professing lynch mobs in the bible belt claimed they were sending a witch to walk on a lake of fire for all eternity.

      @@truetech4158 Look, I'm not going to argue with you on this because I think we both fundamentally agree that the Church needs to be held responsible for their crimes and needs to pay restitutions to the victims' families who were sexually abused, physically abused or murdered. The Church owes the indigenous people much more than just a formal apology. My comment was to address the assertion that housing homeless people in Catholic churches was going to end homelessness. These corrupted church officials are not acting in the spirit of God or the Christian faith. And I've yet to encounter a Muslim that claims 9/11 extremists as one of their own. "Holier than thou" and self-righteousness are a form of spiritual pride and is a dangerous slippery slope and every religious person must be mindful to avoid. Being a religious person doesn't make you morally superior to anyone, especially when you let your ego win. Unfortunately, history shows time and time again that power corrupts everything. Name one self-ruling organization, religious or secular, without corruption. I didn't become a Christian for the moral superiority of the clergy and the church but the good news of Jesus Christ. It just reaffirms my belief that no human on this is Earth is infallible. But the real discussion that needs to be had is what actionable steps can the Church to help the victims of these stories. If you want to discuss this more, you can private message me but I'm not going to respond to anymore comments made here.

      To turn a blind eye to evil is to allow the evil to grow. AND THAT is all that EVIL ASKS - to be left alone, for no one to impede its mission to deceive, to defile, to destroy. It has no real power, UNLESS we jump on board with it, wallow in it, take it on and do its bidding as these have done. If everyone would search his thoughts and find that which is unlike God's thinking, unlike the mind of Christ Jesus, and then destroy the evil thoughts - deny them oxygen so to speak - then evil would be suffocated & cease to plague us. To me that is what the parable of the tares & wheat is all about - separating the chaff from the wheat, the undesirable from the desirable, that which is beneficial from that which is not.
      Isaiah 55: 7-9 & Romans 12: 21 "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with GOOD" pretty much covers it.

    In 1975 an investigation was started on the Mount Cashel Orphanage in St. John’s, Newfoundland. This was a very complicated and drawn out investigation of pedophile priests in the town who were outed by a boy and his mother. It’s always been one of the things I can’t stand about human beings.... the willingness to turn a blind eye to wrong doing in religious communities, the willingness to cover up horrible abuse done by priests and other clergymen. There’s a huge bias of “kill the messenger”in so many stories of child abuse by pedophile church leaders. Anyone coming forward has to run a very disgusting gauntlet of emotional abuse by people who want them to shut up and go away.
    A movie about the horror stories in Mount Cashel, “ The Boys of St. Vincent’s”was quite disturbing. Don’t think it’s available these days. Right now there are ongoing investigations in several institutions and churches that have covered up child sex abuse.. Boy Scouts of America, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormon church, Mennonites... to mention a few. Perhaps this will turn into a ground swell of investigations into dozens more.
    Still can’t understand why people cover these crimes up... there must be a huge moral vacuum in society, a huge unconcern for religion especially to live up to the principles of Christianity they claim to embrace!

The majority of priests work tirelessly and selflessly to serve their Catholic flock. It’s a good thing that the rotten monsters are being exposed. Their criminal behavior breaks the hearts of faithful Catholics. But we rely upon our consecrated men for the seven sacraments.

      @@NBportofino Well, in Roman Catholic church it seems that there is a misinterpretation of the Bible at many levels. The Bible says Bishops should be the husband of one wife. Much of what the RC church has touted as tradition is actually organized religion, not biblical truth. The Bible says to be baptized on the confession of your faith. A baby cannot do that. The bible also says not to worship people or bow down to idols, and that Mary had more children (James, the brother of Jesus). Much as I hate to say this, the RC church is not the true Church of Jesus Christ, it ignores the Bible. Do you read the Bible - do you understand it for yourself? Do you know that God sent Jesus to be propitiation for your sins, and no more sacrifice for sin is required (when RC person takes communion they are crucifying Christ again and again, which is not scriptural). Do you know, you can come boldly before the throne of God knowing that Jesus (not some man) is your mediator? It's time for the power of the Roman Catholic church to be broken over the people. The Bible says: By their fruits you shall know them. It's becoming pretty obvious what type of tree the RC church is growing, and it does not look too much like anything a true saint should be part of. Read the Book 50 years in the Church of Rome by Father Chiniquay if you can get your hands on a copy. The abuse and scandal has been around for 100's of years.

    • @NBportofino
      @NBportofino 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      5060northernmama The Roman Catholic Church precedes the Bible be a century and in fact wrote the Bible. Bishops marriage to one wife means married to the Bride of Christ - the Church. You cannot possibly understand the Bible without understanding its context. Read the early Church fathers for deeper understanding, those who learned from the apostles a century before a book was compiled. Go all the way back to Jesus, who came not to write a book but who left His Church to guide us in His stead.
