    Hi can you please explain little more about white green neutral ground ?
    Red to red and black to black is easy the rest little bit confusing

    When we moved into our house a couple of years ago we had to swap out the old appliances. We considered induction, but there were very few free-standing induction ranges with matching fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and the prices for the combos were way out of our budget. Definitely the way to go if the budget allows.

      Yeah and as some have pointed out it is black color top...hard to find in white for the price... Surprisingly my wife didn't mind and neither did i.

    If you have some cookware that is iffy about scratching the surface, you can use a paper towel or wash rag under that pan on the cooktop to keep the surface scratch free while cooking

    The white wire is the neutral. In most cases is not used, the green goes to the ground. Some models don’t have a white wire.

      I was thinking the same thing. Then I read the instructions for the cooktop online and it shows to do this on a 3 wire connection. Apparently Pre 1996 NEC allows grounding to neutral.

    A little more detailed explanation of the wiring connection would be helpful. I didn’t really grasp the grounding part of the installation. Thanks for sharing

    Thank you so much for posting this. I purchased the same exact cook top and just had granite countertops installed and they did the cutout. Just one question: why can't you just sit the cook top on the lip of the ceramic glass WITHOUT adding the brackets? What is the drawback to not adding the brackets underneath? Not sure what the purpose of the brackets are...just so it won't moveside to side...

    • @no-page
      @no-page 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Building codes require the brackets. They prevent the cooktop from moving and potentially spilling hot water or grease. on someone. In my case, the opening was quite oversize and the top could move an inch or so. These induction cooktops are quite light and I noticed mine was easy to shift during the installation. I have the same model, too.

    Hi Drew, Thanks for posting this. The ground...the video was fast...the ground wire that you got that you tied to the white and green...did you screw the end of that wire on to the box itself?

    how do you like the induction stove top from Frigidaire? Any reliability or repair issues?

  • @45salf
    @45salf ปีที่แล้ว

    Our cooktop leaks cooking residue, mosty oil, between edge and suporting surface. Seems like a gasket or sealant is missing. Any suggestions?

    • @drewtalks
      @drewtalks  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can put some caulk around it to ensure that doesn't happen and try to keep it clean

    IS the induction cooktop loud? my portable induction cooktop is very noisy. thank you for posting it.

      Not super loud but definitely louder than a regular electric stove top, doesn't bother me

      I'm wondering if it's loud because of the quality of the cookware? I'm expecting a unit like yours as a replacement to an electric cooktop so I guess I'll find out in the next few weeks

    Didn't you have to upgrade your circuit for the induction? Electric is typically on 20amp breaker and induction needs 8g wire 40amp breaker...

    • @j.morrison73
      @j.morrison73 ปีที่แล้ว

      Electric on a 20amp breaker?? I have a 40 amp and I've seen 50's. But it's the first I even heard of using a 20 amp.

    so no cleaning this with a razor blade like a "glass top"? if something boils over?

    • @DJcampNfish
      @DJcampNfish 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When stuff boils over it doesn't burn to it the way electric cookers do. These cooktops wipe clean every time

    We have a full electric stove, (cook top & oven). Has anyone any knowledge about the possibility & feasibility of replacing only the cook top? P.S. I won't care if the induction top color is black or avocado. I drag out the electric fry pan before using our stove top, which angers my wife.

    Wouldn’t be allowed to do this in Australia need a qualified licensed electrician because if you DIY and caused say fire damage to home wouldn’t be covered under home insurance

    I stumbled onto your channel by doing a quick check on replacing my cooktop. As an official "old~guy", I was dumbfounded when I heard you say that you didn't want gas because you have little children. Really? I mean reallY? My god man, do you know how to parent? How to say no and maybe, yes maybe, slap their little hands when told not to touch? What a generation of wimps. I worked in an ACE hardware store that sold all types of space heaters. Oil filled heaters work great BUT WAIT. One father told me that he had a small child so that just wouldn't do. Well hell, my grandparents had a coal stove to heat and grandma cooked everything on a wood stove. I never burned myself because I was told "NO". Touch it once and you learn for a lifetime. I wonder, often aloud, how will this nation turn out when the next Civil War heats up. Careful, it's going to get HOT. Real HOT. Now, back to cooktop replacement...
