You and Muzamil, as a couple, are GOALS, Masha Allah! I laugh so hard at videos you have made with him, the 7-second challenge, and many others :p I feel you both are insightful on different subjects and give thoughtful and intellectual content to your audience, so we are actually gaining a lot by hearing you both. Congratulations on being boss of your own and giving back to the society incredibly

This is such an accurate point. And people don’t talk about this much. A insecure person is a toxic partner and there’s no further debate to it.
Thank you for explaining it so well.

Super happy to get the insights on what should we look for in a partner. There is no better way to get advice than from someone who is experienced first-hand. Thank you Humna! ❤️

So, humna you said that insecurity would lead to trust issues but don’t you think insecurity or security is sth that is inbuilt in us from the way you’re grown up? Like, It comes under the parenting of the mother, which makes a child secured or insecure since start and it’s not even his fault, no? Overcoming and working on it might work but maybe we have to do efforts for it together.

I agree to this to my very bone. Insecurities are indulged in a child from the very start, from his own home. Whatever he does, he can't completely eradicate out of him. They can learn to be more confident, work to elevate their self esteem, but they can't completely just remove them. Childhood traumas/insecurities are real man.

My only question is that we can talk about all issues with a potential partner and what if in the time being they give answers that you feel satisfied with. And once your married life actually begins, they change 180° and don't uphold their word.
How can one be sure of this?

Qualities to look out for in a partner before getting married?
Most of the points she highlighted can only be experienced after marriage, and rest of them can only be verified if u r in a relationship with someone. The idea that most of people get into a marriage (in Pakistan) in an arranged setup donot have the liberty to explore much about the other person.

beautiful baatain, but i have seen the influence of mothers or sisters on the husbands a lot, so even if the husband has all these qualities one can't do much when theres a toxic influence of the mom or the sister upon him. so i think to be able to create a balance within both sides is important too

Hey Humna I wanted to ask something wrt not changing things in one's partner which doesn't affect them directly..
For eg. like in most households in our culture cleaning and organising is done by women (though it should be done by both equally) and what if the husband just doesn't maintain it at all. And doesn't even acknowledge that the wife is doing cleaning and he is making it untidy. And what about hygiene habits?
Though I agree one cannot change overnight but in a good way one could request the other to bring about a change.
    Please do reply

One more point I would like to add.
You got the definition of equality wrong. Yes I agree with you that both husband and wife should be given equal respect.
However, men and women are different. Islam has given both equal respect however Islam has also put certain defined gender roles (which most women don’t like these days). So yes there are certain things which men are allowed to do which you can’t. Plain and simple. You cannot say that “oh you as a man can do this so i as a woman should do this as well” we are different. We are not the same.

If a guy has accidentally landed here like me, please take a note
    - Insecurity has nothing to do with Boundaries. Normally girls use the shaming language like he is toxic, insecure, possessive, jealous etc etc. don’t ever change yourself. Be upfront. Set boundaries from day 1 and manage expectations. Women need to be protected from themselves. They will “deliberately” put themselves and their relationships at risk.
    - Women like attention/seeking attention. Guys know why other men do what they do and they know about their mentality. Hence they protect their women to not put themselves into positions which jeopardise their relationship. Women think they are being in secure or jealous. Men are not insecure or jealous. They are TERRITORIAL. There is a difference
@Humna - men are not intimidated by women earning more. Problem is, that when women earn more money, they do that because they have developed certain traits (usually masculine traits) and attitude which are actually quite unattractive to men.
