    I love BTZ products. They make a curl lotion and a curl glaze that are really good as well. I was going to get the cream, but passed because of the beeswax. Now I'm going to rethink it. Might be worth trying. (Sally's has a great return policy if it doesn't work, 😉) And just an FYI for everyone in the US, Marc Anthony products are also sold at Harmon's. 👍

      Thanks for your comment and suggestions! Super helpful, I love it when my subscribers help each other out☺ Like I said, I almost passed because of the beeswax, but as long as your cleansing your hair properly to avoid build up you should have nothing to worry about 😬

      I forgot to mention, BTZ also makes Bada Bing Gel. It's a hard hold similar to Aussie instant freeze and it's really good as well and affordable. 👍

      I've been using BTZ Noodle Head for about 6 months. I really loved it! My hair definitely got great definition from it. But it did seem to cause a little buildup after a while. I'm in desperate need of a trim right now (hopefully can get a ride to a salon this week), so I'm not sure if I'm falling out of love with BTZ, or if it's simply that my ends are too dry. I'll use it again after my trim and see if it was a buildup problem or a dry ends problem. After I apply it the last couple of weeks, I have trouble getting a comb or my fingers through the ends, so I'm currently using leave-in conditioners and not much else. Right now I'm siding more with dry ends that need to be trimmed than the problem lying with BTZ.

    • @nancpantzng
      @nancpantzng 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Princess Pea Your ends might need to be trimmed to help your situation, but the build up sounds like you need to clarify. The product that you were really loving hasn't changed, your hair has. Most products will cause build up if not properly cleansed out. I just wanted to mention this because I've been through it myself. But, Mel is the professional here so go with whatever she suggests. I think she will mention clarifying as well.

    Mell, could you maybe dedicate a video to comparing Shea Moisture to other brands like Aveda and Devacurl?
    I don‘t know if it‘s just me but I feel like I never see any curly girl use Shea Moisture anymore?
    I live in Germany and it‘s next to impossible to purchase Devacurl products here, and Aveda is sooo expensive, so I‘d love to know if Shea Moisture would be a good alternative (even though their products aren’t exactly cheap either) 😅

    • @SyntheticRose
      @SyntheticRose 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was looking at some Shea Moisture products today cuz they seemed affordable but I think they changed their formula. I'm not 100% sure but I was reading reviews from years ago and then months ago and the more recent ones say that the formula is different and much worse than the original. It was a common theme among the shampoo's and conditioners.
      It was really disheartening cuz I was looking forward to trying them out, but now I'm more cautious of them.

    • @JK-bp6oz
      @JK-bp6oz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@SyntheticRose They have slightly changed their formula in the last year from what I can tell. I use the Curl and Shine shampoo/conditioner by Shea Moisture. In the last year, the shampoo smell has changed from a sweet, coconut floral-fruit to something more soapy. The shampoo used to be thicker and more gel-like. Its almost like water now. I used to never have dandruff over the last 3 years that I have been using it. Over the last 3-6 months, I started to get dandruff and scalp irritation, if I skip a day of washing. I used to be able to skip 3 days, before I had to for oil reasons.
      The conditioner seems to be mostly the same, but it is heavier on the moisture now.
      I have mostly wavy hair, with some loose curl which turns more curly with scrunching and leave-in conditioner.
      If I dont brush it out, then its more curly.

    • @SyntheticRose
      @SyntheticRose 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      J K your hair type seems similar to mine, and that seems like a big change in formula to me so I think I’ll be staying away from Shea Moisture. Maybe they’ll change it back, who knows. Thank you for describing it! It was very helpful :)

    • @JK-bp6oz
      @JK-bp6oz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SyntheticRose I didn't realize that until after I posted.👍 Yeah, I am switching to Cantu for now, even though the conditioner is a bit too heavy for my hair. If you have drier hair, may be a good match.

    I’m a born-again curly girl, I’m 64 years old with thinning hair reclaiming my curls. Celebrate and protect your curls girls! I wish I’d found curly mania years ago. To think how many expensive shampoos I’ve bought over the years to get rid of frizz to find they’re causing it and my very expensive conditioners are not getting into hair because of ingredients in shampoo. I have found so many curly methods, products and techniques but I think I’ve found my guru - you Mell! However you use a brush (gasp) to work treatment through your hair. I’ve heard no brushes or combs EVER. Your hair is def curlier than mine. Can you tell me what brush you use in this video? Thank you. Now I have to binge watch all your TH-cam videos!

    The Beyond The Zone (BTZ) you tried has been in my hair arsenal since the very beginning. As a child it was always in the medicine cabinet and I’ve always loved it, however is contains Dimethicone and Dimethiconol, which other websites have told me to avoid? In this video you said it was fine though? I really want to use it again if I can since the approved gel I’ve been using has made my hair dry, but I don’t know what’s best.

I don't know if you already have a video on it, but I was wondering what other products you might recommend that are affordable? Specifically I'm looking for products such as shampoos, conditioners, and leave in conditioners. Right now I'm using Herbal Essence and in another video you said to toss them out the window so... I'm really starting to think that's not a bad idea! I don't really have the budget right now for more expensive products, but I know that the products I'm using are hurting my hair. I watched your video about moisture versus protein and I think I need a lot more moisture. (Also, I live in Vegas so it's really dry!) I loved looking at your blog post about ingredients to avoid and that will give me a great starting point in my search, but I would love specific recommendations if you have them! Thanks again!

    Can you do a diffusing techniques video using the Black orchid diffuser? I've seen people Jimmy-rig it to fit their Dyson and I wonder if there would be a technique different than the one you've done before

    You and your sister are both beautiful and adorable! Love the hair, I'm "jealous" and am on a quest to bring out my hair's best health so I won't envy people like you anymore. 😂
    My cut is quite similar to your sister's. Is yours a shag cut or similar? I used to shag my hair, am thinking about doing it again (though a "long shag," not short). It was always easiest to manage, and the layers cascade so nicely.

      Awh shucks thank you for the ego boost! Im sure your hair is beautiful in its own way 😊 The haircut makes a huge difference. My sisters hair is extremely long so we give her long layers for movement and lots of face framing, but she'll never get as much volume as me because her hair is so heavy. With a shag haircut, like mine, there are many layers with give lots of volume. The length of the hair works best to be midlength for the layers to connect well. Its definitely easier to manage, i say go for it!
      Thank you for watching xoxo

    Hi Mell,
    I just recently found your channel. I have what I call wavy/curly collar length hair. I've heard you talk about types of curl and I'm trying to figure out what type I have. Do you have a you tube discussing this? I would really like to know so I can buy the best styling products. Right now I'm using leave-in conditioner, Tresemme mousse', and KMS curl up cream. I have to be mindful of budget. Thanks 😊

    YOUR FROM CANADA!!! I have just recently seen some of your videos, and their amazing! I used to have super curly ringlets but after bleaching and colouring, the top layer of my curls are all dry and wavy while the under layer is still fairly curly. I don’t know what to do!

    Just saying, but your sisters day 1 hair was way more poppin!!! Then again as a curly from the US I have NEVER been a fan of Marc Anthony products. They tend to have non CG ingredients in them. Admittedly though I have not tried the new “supposedly” CG friendly range of products. Noodle head seems like an obvious winner in this match up to me!!! x
