      HeLlO iM sQuIdWaRd. It means when a brand sends makeup to a dark skinned influencer people think they are inclusive witch usually brings more hype and people will buy it most people dont look into things and dont see if they actually had a match or the actually shade range escpecially tanned people or people in the middle shade range and paler will go to the brand and support even if they still find out that it was a bad shade range they still got the hype witch is what they wanted in the first place

      Edit Lissi True! It’s like they made the most subtle differences, and maybe the undertones were different, but
      It’s still not very pale or dark which is sad

      There r dark toned Latina women as well. If this was created by a Latina woman, shame for her to overlook that fact

    • @mariacontreras6652
      @mariacontreras6652 5 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      @@serah3338 I agree. I get that the color range wasn´t the best, you can say its not inclusive, but I do see her intention of trying to cover medium tones as best as she could being a latina women. I have so much trouble myself finding the correct foundation tone having light medium skin with olive undertones and you´re right: this makes ALL the difference for medium toned skins.
      Again if I have to judge the color range.. it´s NOT the best, as many other brands´are not the best either, I just think that shaming the owner of the brand and giving this whole situation a racist context is outrageous, because the fair range of color on this brand isn´t the best either.

    • @alihassemer06
      @alihassemer06 5 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      MARIA CONTRERAS you guys are rediculous for thinking that this is a “win.” If you want to talk about this, make the comment on a video about the problem on not enough olive medium shades, not a video about a problem where people with deep dark skin tones can’t find a color dark enough.

      @@serah3338 If the founder of BB truly meant what she said about this product being made for Latina people, then this is a gross display of colourism. Afro-Latina people exist and were blatantly ignored.

      Yeah. I dont either. But in my case it's not really an ideology choice. See, if a company doesnt have many dark shades available, they most likely dont go pale enough either, so im not gonna buy it because it simply wont work for me.
      I keep saying it, but this is all bussiness, it's made for profit. They make shades for majority, because most women are somewhere in the middle. And since makeup isnt a necessity, they wont make these shades just for ideology.

Everyone deserves to have a foundation shade, everyone deserves a boss ass palette that works, everyone deserves to have the best red lip for them. Everyone deserves to be as beat face or lightweight and everyone deserves to feel beautiful. It's 2018 companies, get your shit together.

      I'm mostly European but with yellow undertones, and it's taking me a long time learning how to mix different shades of foundation to get close to my skin tone. I used milani in vanilla and Sephora's in light. Usually get a spot on tone.
      Ms Tang is gorgeous. And this lax in much much much wider foundations in skin tones, is simply laziness.

    Nyma you hit the nail right on the head! These brands treat inclusivity like it's a trend. If they add a couple deep / dark shades plus 50 shades of beige, they can claim inclusivity. Also let's note that they didn't bother to make shades for the pale / extremely fair people. I'm so tired of this in 2018.

    • @EllyFLuft
      @EllyFLuft 6 ปีที่แล้ว +186

      Jungle Naps Thank you so much for mentioning us really pale people! We have problems finding foundations too. The medium shades are always covered, but the lightest and the darkest are nowhere to be found. We exist too. Not only that, but if you have a weird undertone, forget about finding a foundation in addition to very light shades and very dark shades.

    When I stared using makeup (which was like 13 years ago), I already had problems with finding the perfect shade for me since I'm in the medium spectrum with a yellow undertone. I always saw very light shades or orange ones, not even dark ones. My friend who has a dark complexion could never use foundation, because there was literally no shade even close (talking about drugstore products) and that's really sad. In 2018, I don't get how brands can create like 25 light shades, 5 medium and throw in like 2 dark shades like..."black it black" and it's going to cover every dark skinned person?? Don't they think that poc do also have very different undetones? Do they see dark skinned people and act like "They all look the same"?? It makes me so sad.

    i love how you hit on about inclusiveness being a trend. i worry about that all the time. i’m very fair, almost always the lightest shade. but more often then not, there isn’t a shade light enough. i know it’s also a huge struggle for people in my position, or who are albino or have vitiligo, to find a shade that is light enough and neutral enough. so many light shades always have this golden undertone that i look yellow or orange. i stopped wearing foundation because it was too hard to find a shade light enough. i also struggle daily finding concealer light enough for me. so many drugstore bands “light” or “fair” shade is darker than my skin. i get that most of the world lived in the “middle shades”, but i also hate having to wear foundation down to my chest so i don’t have a darker face than my body.

    Also, after seeing how Fenty and other brands showed their support of so many skin shades, this lack of inclusiveness is unacceptable. Like you rightfully said, the inclusiveness trend is maddening when it shows itself as being just a trend. There are scores of beautiful people in so many wonderful shades, and for any brand to act like they didn't realize that or that they weren't aware of the whole Tarte fiasco is horrendous. What also pisses me off is when people try to defend this with that 'they didn't know' ignorance argument, as that's even worse. They might as well say 'oh, they didn't do it maliciously, they just forgot to acknowledge a huge chunk of the population.'

    I think the fact that a company is specifically not sending you a complexion product means they know they’re missing a significant number of shades. And I’m with you: make 20 shades of beige as long as you also make 20 shades of a medium range and 20 shades a darker range as well.

    • @---ct2hj
      @---ct2hj 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ash- Bob maybe the medium shades sell more (I'm thinking this genuinely,- not trying to be snarky 😅)? I know Fenty was sold out but brands like Bobby Brown, MAC, Iman, and Cover FX have had huge ranges for YEARS and their light or dark shades are rarely ever sold out. Even amongst such large shade ranges, their medium colors are most popular. In India for example, MAC is very popular and their counters usually only carry NC/NW 20-45 (*maybe* 15-50 at the larger stores). Are there women who are lighter or darker? Sure, but % wise most of the target middle to upper class market fits within the light/medium (25-35) color range so that's what economically makes the best sense to carry and market in their Indian ads. I know the US isn't India of course and there are a larger % of pale white and black people but perhaps even then, they gain most profits from medium skin tones? Idk just a thought...

    i’m not shocked, the owner is a white latina who wanted to make undertones for people with her skin color aka 50 shades of beige. she also said the shade range represents the “shades that are most universal” as if afro latinx and brown latinx people dont exist?? it’s literally not even inclusive to the people she says she made it for.

      bethany my best friend is pale as fuck (as am I) and she is Latina. There are no shades for her in this "latina inclusive" shade range.

      @alyciadasilva3303 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yea! Also it’s weird bc Latin America is very tropical and most people there are very tan

    • @Fainora
      @Fainora 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In one of the earlier press releases she actually said the shade range is targeted towards mix raced women. But i guess we don't exist or we can all keep looking like pepto bismul in your eyes. Be like everything else apparently only white people and black people exist and the rest of us can just shit in the corner and shut up.

    • @alyciadasilva3303
      @alyciadasilva3303 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Fainora actually most Latinas are mixed or dark so if she was targeting Latina shades she could’ve also taken into consideration that there are mixed and black latinas and also don’t act like all those shades with one more drop of darkness added to them is gonna help them me and all my friends that are white Latina can probably fit in 13 of those in total

    • @Fainora
      @Fainora 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So you are expecting her to make over 100 shade range? its not about more than one drop of darkness its about the undertones a lot of mixed race people have especially when we aren't dark. Also not all mixes race hispanic or meso-american people consider them selves "latina" I sure as hell don't . This line is filling a need, there is a girl in my office right now that is 3 shades darker than I am, we both wear the exact same foundation because its the closest match available for both of us, that's not okay and this line address that.

    I’m so tired of these thousand shades of medium beige. I’m very fair and I have trouble matching foundations because I’m usually the lightest shade and I’m warm so I either get to be pink or orange. I can only imagine what being on the deeper end of the spectrum means for finding shades. Why can’t we get more super light and deep instead of so many medium.

      Meade Thornton Agreed. Apparently, to some brands, some people are "too pale" or "too dark" to wear makeup

    Holy shit that is a huge problem that you know that you are on their PR list and they still chose not to send it to you. It is like silencing the dark skin influencers because they knew they didn’t come out with an inclusive product. Shocked but not really.
