haylee altvater well if you do it just to try and jump on the ‘trend’ of inclusivity but without thought and effort put into each shade and undertone and whether it’s a good shade that caters to people then you don’t deserve the same props as a brand that does put in that effort.
Yeah there’s sooo many diff shade ranges in the world that you can have a line with 50 shades and there will still be people who can’t find their shade. I think 100 shades is awesome. How can ppl demand change and more inclusivity but then say it’s too much when brands actually listen and try to cater to the demands? I’m a little confused by it. Ppl want inclusivity but not too much? Lol
tjulia88 That’s not it. People obviously want an inclusive line HOWEVER people don’t want their skin and inclusivity to be a “fad” or trend because when the trend dies it goes back to how it was. Not to mention nobody wants someone who genuinely doesn’t give 1 fuck about really nailing all of the undertones and shade range to make foundation just because it’s the new hype rather than someone who actually cares and takes the time to really make sure everyone is taken care of. Brands just treat people’s skin as a competition as to who can one up the other for releasing the most shades and most are still 50 shades of bullshit lol. Like pay attention to the people, show how much you care, don’t do it for the competition. Not sure if you understood but I tried..

I managed to find my shade (second lightest! It was weird to not have to use the lightest shade for once lol) but Fenty is borderline incompatible with my skin type.
@Vivian Luvy i am very pale with yellow undertone and all my foundations apart from 1 need white and yellow mixer added into it. You can see how pale i am by my picture. Only one i found close is nyx cant stop wont stop in pale. Only one in lightest shade thats actully light enough. And actully a pale shade that aint pink. Ive been buying foundations drug store and high end for over 10years and only just found a shade light enough and right undertones so yeah i do understand and i struggle every time i look at foundation, concealers and powders.
Since you said you also have problems finding the right foundation you should understand how a women of color complains especially with the unrealistic shade that would not fit an actual human. Companies always use orange as an undertone for women of color when there so many more undertones they need to include.
L.D.O.K just because you have 100 shades doesn’t mean every one is going to find there shade the point was that not many brands include darker shades there’s already a million lighter shades so no one asked for this we ask for exclusivity for the darkest shades and for the lightest shades
The shade range is great. I’ve never had difficulty finding a color to match, but for those who have, I imagine that it’s pretty frustrating. 100 shades isn’t a lot or too much. They’re trying to have something everyone which is awesome.
Ok I thought it was nuts too but seeing you swatch it changed my mind. There’s enough coverage for my entire family here! And my friends! I need to see it in store of course tho. But after looking at lines like MAC and Estée Lauder, esp at MAC’s pro store, I don’t think you can have too many shades. Even Maybelline’s Fit Me overwhelmed me bc the medium to deep is so extensive for a drug store brand but I found my shade. I’m ready for Pur!
It's great that Pur reached out to you for your feedback and you warned them how people will see it as grimicky to have 100 shades. I love the way the foundation shade looked on you.
Wow this actually looks great! They split the ranges exactly how I've thought a company should do it. I'm looking forward to seeing more reviews about it from other people with other skin tones and types and see how it covers the other ranges! 👍
It reminds me of the 1990s (I'm old), when Prescriptives came out with 96 shades. You had to be "color printed" by a makeup artist at their counter in the dept store.
Emily Sterner holy shit. When I looked at the app this morning it said 40. What is even the point of Ulta selling this foundation which is so huge bc of the number of shades, but only sell 22???? What a slap in the face to the pür team and people interested in this product
Girl the foundation melted like butter into your skin. EVEN the damn highlight disappeared so damn good I had to rewatch to make sure you really highlighted..
Undertones are more important I think. That’s what you really want to match. Shopping for foundations with an olive undertone is hard. You rarely see a ton in a line. Even if they have a lot. I understand that olive tones are very hard to pull off for foundations. Too green or too yellow (I think those are the colors) and it won’t work
YamiNoGame I find it near impossible to find a perfect match for my skin, as I’m a neutral / warm slight olive undertone. But my skin literally changes colour all the time 😂 so I usually just mix a bunch of foundations. I have summer foundation, winter foundation and just normal skin colour foundation 😂
A C R same! I’m mixed race, and I have olive-ish/beige skin, but I have neutral undertones. Everything is too yellow or too greenish weird. I tan after 15 minutes in the sun, and then I turn a russet color which makes it all worse 😂
Hey Nyma, I just want to get a practical concern off my chest. You touched on this. How likely are stores to carry the entire 100-shade range in-store? Not very; I have my doubts. If stores don't carry the entire range in-store, I as a consumer, am back at square one...seeking a color match the hard way (go online, take a guess, hope for the best) because I cannot swatch it in person. This 100-shade foundation range, and all the other 100-shade foundation brands, is a game changer ONLY if brick and mortar retail carries the ENTIRE range in-store. By that I mean every Sephora, every Ulta, every retail distribution point, carries the whole the range. This means the display area for each brand gets correspondingly bigger to accommodate the expanded range, which means the brands spend more money ($/sq. foot) and pass the costs downstream. Then there are inventory holding costs of keeping so much product in warehouse, etc. and those costs are also passed on somewhere along the way. Either margins or sales will take a hit, and unless brands are willing to negotiate on our behalf, I have a feeling we will be eating the costs. Basically, the arguments for the old paradigm (sell shades that sell) are more compelling from a revenue perspective. The merchandising methodology for this product has to be different from previous methodologies wherein stores carry best-selling or likely to sell shades, i.e. 50 or 35 shades out of the entire 100 shade range. They have to resist the temptation to do that. There's a difference between making a 100-shade range and making a 100-shade range that is physically accessible. Brands need to figure out how to do the latter. I could go on, but I'm just making myself frustrated.
That's very important. Many brands have quite extensive range (maybe not 100 shades, but a nice amount) but they are not really available. And if you go outside the States, it's even worse. Like having a range of 30, 40 shades and only having 5 or 6 at store. Many times, not even online they have all the shades. It's very difficult to understand why brands do that. Brands have those shades, people are willing to buy those shades, because they are those shades, and brands decide just not to sell them.
Totally understand where your coming from on this. Unfortunately the brand can't force the stores to stock every shade (would be so nice tho). You can order sample sizes online for $10 to try a shade or 2, instead of dropping $36 on something that won't work, so at least the brand has an option.
They are a business and if every retailer has all 100 shades they will be losing A LOT of money. They won't be making a profit so then what's the point of it all? In my country most people are white. Like 85-90%. However most of the people are still darker than I am and I can rarely find a shade that matches me and when I do find a match in stores, that shade is literally almost fully stocked all the time, meaning they are losing product and money by keeping that shade. It's simple business. The fairest and the darkest shades don't sell as much in certain parts of the world so there's no profit from getting those shades in stores.
I don't think they will but do hope they choose an even range to put in stores. Someone from uoma just talked about how only after Fenty Beauty are they able to put at least 40 shades in stores.
I think it’s great they have 100 shades. It’s really bad when companies release new foundations with only like 12 shades and totally leave people out. The more shades the better. X
This is confusing, cause most people want more shades, but then when a company does this, they have different shades and undertones and ppl say it's too much??? i'm so confused. i love this shade range. i think it's great. Hopefully Jeffree's foundations are like this. lol

AlcideIzMine there’s a useful comment. These other people seem to just complain rather than looking at what pur is offering for folks to get samples. I suppose now they’re going to complain that samples aren’t free?
Happy Day people always love something to complain about and most of the time don’t come up with any solutions themselves. I blame social media lol
Stephanie H. Thank you for sharing the direct link!! 🙌🏾
A lot of people sleep on Pur. They have some great blushes and highlighters too. Thanks for another great foundation review Nyma!
This was an excellent review. Nyma is growing in popularity. So happy for her.
Yeah I just got a highlight its AMAZING
Omg I need to start looking into them now!
I fell in love with them after I got their festival palette in Boxycharm! Shadows that are pigmented and blend like a dream without being muddy or dusty 👏👏👏
SignedBeauty omg same i love the pallete
girlll can we acknowledge that the foundations dont look red or grey like 👀
I Think the number is good. As someone who CAN'T find a shade in fenty, too faced, huda etc. I love this
Imasha I don’t have a shade in fenty either! I thought it was just me! I think there should be as many shades as necessary until everyone’s included
In my humble opinion, this is one of the best foundations that you have ever used....color matching wise! Simply GORGEOUS!!! TFS
as if people are saying coming out with a wide shade range is a bad thing for a brand. Damned if you do damned if you dont
haylee altvater well if you do it just to try and jump on the ‘trend’ of inclusivity but without thought and effort put into each shade and undertone and whether it’s a good shade that caters to people then you don’t deserve the same props as a brand that does put in that effort.
@@Jin_Raiden Yeah but the joys of social media means that companies that put out 100 shades of shit ass colours for clout are going to get dragged to hell and then someone else will step up and show them how it's done.
I'm super excited for this shade range! In the winter I get so pale that Cloud from Too Faced was a touch dark for me. CLOUD is too dark for me in the winter. I'm tired of a lot of foundations only focusing on the medium shade range - the other sides of the spectrum should be able to enjoy makeup too.
Jackie Aina was right. This is the best foundation match I've seen on you
withmargee I was about to comment the same! It looks so beautiful on her
Yes, usually all foundations look ashy for her skin tone.
I know this has nothing to do with the comment or the video but..
You look GORGEOUS on you profile pic!! Are u the one who did makeup? One more sub
*makes few foundations* gets mad
*makes 100 foundations* why so many
Did u listen to reason?
UnfrendlyBlackHottie™ yes but she is always complaining about something i mean others too but her ...she is the most
@@sailormoon0378 if u actually did isten to reason u would know tht she wasn't complaining at all, the title was click bait (and it worked) but she herself was giving input and a lil advice on brands tht push out 40+ shades w.o doing the actual study on the shades, the undertones etc..that can be detrimental for the brand bc people will try them, see for themselves tht they suck and lack proper research and then the foundations will just sit on the shelf and no one buys them
Right! Beauty gurus always talk about how there are more than 20 shades of skin but then they get 100 and they are like this is to many. Like wtf shut up 🙄
Agreed! For the past year or so everyone has been on this all inclusive trend.... As soon as companies come out with an all inclusive line everyone complains that there's too many shades... So which is it? I'm so confused as to why everyone has to constantly complain.
"Not enough shades!" - cancelled
100 shades "TOO MUCH OMG. YOU GOIN FOR CLOUT!"
Is anyone ever satisfied, or ...
I’m convinced that the human race cannot be pleased
Precisely. It's a shame, you give people everything they want and more and it's never enough.
kinda rude but carry on
Rose Easton but it’s true though, a brand is pretty much canceled when they release 10 shades and now they’re gimmicky and pandering for trying to make sure everyone is covered. There truly is no winning and it’s beyond annoying seeing people trying to find reasons to not like what this launch did.
@@tinyrick4991 ????? i was just saying that its rude to say someone isnt allowed to have a foundation that matches their skin color.
Rose Easton oh, I took it as you were calling the OP rude, I’m sorry then I must have totally missed the mark on what you meant my bad 😅😅
Welp, Fenty has like 40ish and not ONE matches me so maybe I'll have better luck.
Same here i couldn't do the fenty
Same here literally 100 was too dark and neutral
Same with me and I'm in the 300 shade range.
I managed to find my shade (second lightest! It was weird to not have to use the lightest shade for once lol) but Fenty is borderline incompatible with my skin type.
same i’m tan to kinda beigeish and i bought all the ones that could match me and none did
A brand puts the effort in to include EVERYONE and people complain ..lol
@Süße Brötchen ok, pale princess
L.D.O.K just because you have 100 shades doesn’t mean every one is going to find there shade the point was that not many brands include darker shades there’s already a million lighter shades so no one asked for this we ask for exclusivity for the darkest shades and for the lightest shades
shut up
not many companies realise how important undertones are! props to this company and props to you for a great review 😍😍👌👌
The shade range is great. I’ve never had difficulty finding a color to match, but for those who have, I imagine that it’s pretty frustrating. 100 shades isn’t a lot or too much. They’re trying to have something everyone which is awesome.
PrincessPie1920 it goes doesn’t to about 20 when u get into the general and then to 6 when u get undertoons so it is not thta hard
Companies: Lets launch 12 shades
Beauty gurus: That’s not much for everyone
Companies: Launches 100 shades
Beauty gurus: It’s daunting
Companies: 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
It's great that Pur reached out to you for your feedback and you warned them how people will see it as grimicky to have 100 shades. I love the way the foundation shade looked on you.
You: why 100 shades?!
Me: diversity.
Wow this actually looks great! They split the ranges exactly how I've thought a company should do it. I'm looking forward to seeing more reviews about it from other people with other skin tones and types and see how it covers the other ranges! 👍
Amie Marie Creative EXACTLY
It reminds me of the 1990s (I'm old), when Prescriptives came out with 96 shades. You had to be "color printed" by a makeup artist at their counter in the dept store.
keepitmovindotcom I remember!!!😂🥰
You started putting on foundation and I swore you already had some on.
Yeah her skin is insane lol
Ms Rana i hope my skin is going to look that clear at some point lol
Her skin is perfect! So smooth, even, and glowing naturaly
That foundation shade and finish looks PERFECT on you! SO beautiful
I doubt ulta is going to have them all in store. When I checked online they only had 40 shades available. 😕
ShadaGreen ulta doesn’t even have cover FX full shade range
Honestly it’s so annoying! I prefer to try a shade on in the store than look online and get it all wrong lol
exactly 😡 with 100 shades it will be hard for anyone to find their shade with literally 60% online only
On ulta online, they only have 22 shades.. 🤷🏻♀️
I think there should be 6 categories: fair, light, medium, tan, deep, dark. Yellow, pink, olive, neutral undertones.
Vildana Saračević don’t forget red undertones too
Undertones are more important I think.
Boop Loop the joys of being mixed race! I feel you 😂🙌🏼
I love the undertone to your color, usually looks gray, but it actually matched your skin soooooooooo well
I was waiting for this video. I live in a house of women and we literally watch your videos together on the big screen ❤️❤️

I'm soooooo in love with your skin its so pretty and I'm sold every time you do a review on makeup
the deep red tones that show throufh in your bare skin are so incredibly beautiful omfg they are so rich and add so much dimension
Her skin is so beautiful!!! You can tell she does good skin care ahhhh
Nyma has the most beautiful skin colour that I have ever seen and I'm jealous. 😍
The colour you picked looked flawless - it enhanced your undertones and made you look radiant!
They do have a pretty in depth shade finder. It seems to list almost every brand you can think of.
I wish the stores have room for all 100 shades
I don't think they will but do hope they choose an even range to put in stores. Someone from uoma just talked about how only after Fenty Beauty are they able to put at least 40 shades in stores.
Shelf space is expensive sometimes
Shelf space is hella expensive
Oh my gosh. If that's you in your profile you are very pretty,I wish I was that pretty.
Virginia Harp thank you!
Girl you should be thankful because people come in many shades and you have an uncommon shade so be happy
Hopefully Jeffree's foundations are like this. lol
Javiera Morales that’s not what they are saying they are saying if the company that makes the shades doing it out of generosity or are they doing it for competition and not actually catering to their audience.
WTH? You’ve been asking for a larger range and you’ve got it. Now you think it’s for clought. Why can’t it be that someone FINALLY thought to include more shades and tones. What do you want? Seriously, at this point what will make you happy?
@@brittharmony5126 Whether or not it's for clout or not, y'all got the shades so what you crying for?? You can use the foundation or not? tf
@@brittharmony5126 generosity won't pay them, money will, so yeah..
+ a variety of color is not that bad, really, people have different skin tones and shades so... Not that bad
@@brittharmony5126 does it really matter tho? It they do it right, I don't care about their true intentions, companies are companies they are not here to love people, they are here to deliver a service, if it's well done, then I don't see why we should be complaining

They have it at ulta Too gal!
I'm glad you put this out. I was impressed with pur for putting out 100 shades, but I wanted to make sure they were doing it right and I'm happy to know you have a shade that matches you.
How many shades do you believe we should have as a standard in your opinion?
Seems like you get negative publicity whether you do more or less.
Because they do it for the number if they don’t match anyone and the range is awful then what it the point. These brands focus too much on the amount of shades without realizing real people are going to wear them. Black people aren’t orange
@@katiemakeupartistAU2010 i dont think its the number of shades that matters, but how the shades are disperased. like if you are gonna have 12 shades, have 3 be light 3 be medium 3 be deep and 3 be rich... just made the sections equal so there wont be 80% white shades.
50: 10 light, 10 medium, 10 tan, 10 dark, and 10 deep with an equal mix of warm, neutral and cool undertones on both the lighter and darker side of each category

Yeah was definitely thinking the same thing. Really really glad they did a good job on the deep shades, but also, bruh. Cmonnn use those 100 shades to have more than 3 ut. Hopefully that will be the next area Pur tweak, but in general I’m pretty impressed with the launch

hayley ortega omg that would be amazing 😍😍
I mean.... now you have a company that really tried to offer a lot of shades, for so many different skin tones and shades and bla bla, and because of it it's disingenuous?
How could they not come out with so many, when people are just waiting for someone to not include everyone, and then talk about it until the end of times? I don't get why you would think its a gimmick?
If the product is good, and it fits so many different people, why is it suddenly bad to be inclusive?!?
Did you watch the entire video?

YES! plus the company is made more for darker skin tones since it was made by a WOC
Yes there are 51 shades I believe. From the videos I have seen the foundation looks lovely. I ordered the concealer though as I have loads of foundations. Anastasia Beverly Hills are also coming out with 50 shades in August and I talked about it on my channel. These brands are really trying hard now. Fingers crossed :)

I am here for this content! I don’t even really wear makeup but I love to watch your videos and I really value your input for the products I do purchase!
I totally understand what you’re saying about the number of shades being a gimmick if they’re not well executed. It’s about the usability, undertones and even distribution of the colors that’s really important. I’m glad that you’re impressed with this shade range and that you even have options in this range! Fingers crossed that all shades are sold in store!

that primer is so gorgeous!!! it smoothed you out so well and just made your skin look so great ( not flawless because you don’t have any flaws to begin with)
Dude, what kind of finish does the foundation have? What skin type would it best work for? Coverage? Feel? Watery? Thick? Silicone based? Water based? You literally didn’t say one thing about it, just talked about the range of shades.
The PUR website tells you everything if you want to look at the specific ingredients...
It's a natural finish. Imo it's on the thicker side. I believe its silicone based. Also includes some skincare ingredients. No fragrance. I love it. It wears beautifully.
I thought I had missed something and was about to watch again LOL. I didn’t take away one thing from this review.... which came across almost begrudgingly neutral.

Pur did the dang thang! Jackpot, yesss!
I have a deep complexion, and I’m super excited about how well your pur foundation matched you. I’m figuring you were more excited a month ago & before travel exhaustion set in 😉, but this foundation is a hit - from what you’ve shown. If more people reference how the shades are categorized, I don’t think they’ll continue to maintain that 100 shades is too many. Shoot, it seems like someone has been listening to the cries of those who’ve needed deeper shades. TFS.
That is a great match. You have such beautiful skin!!! Love the review ❤️
Always such gorgeous skin and just simply beautiful before and after!

This looks good on you. One of the best matches for foundation on you. I am impressed,
Girl! I would love for you to try the Magic star concealer I want to know your opinion on those
I think your lighting is incredible. You can see your face texture, which isn't alot, but it makes me feel like I'm actually in the same room with you. It doesn't look like you're using studio lights to airbrush your face. I rarely see this kind of quality visual in videos. I applaud you, I love it!
I think the shade range is pretty perfect. They had the PERFECT shade for me, which is something I have never been able to find!
This foundation for me is heavy! But I really enjoy it. I sheer it out with some oil and it works much better for me that way. You look absolutely stunning and this is one of the first foundations I've seen that actually work for your skintone. Sending love!

Yes it runs dark enough, but most of the dark shades would be classified as medium/tan and some of the deep shades should be considered dark.

I was looking through the comments wondering why no one was saying anything about it 🙄
Nyma skin colour is deep, you can't clearly see that. I recommend to watch swatches on someone who is in the tan/ dark category
