I am becoming a fan of your channel after discovering it this week. My mother was a beautiful woman until her death in 2017. I was born in 1951, her first of 2 girls. I never saw her without nail polish on her fingernails and toenails. She always wore Revlon (and matching lipstick) Cherries in the Snow, Fire and Ice, and Frosted Pearl in the summer. I remember her having the old box set in the early ‘50’s and the silver brocade box with nail accessories around 1959 or 1960. My sister and I loved playing in her make up (including Max Factor Pan Stick makeup, Pond’s Cold Cream, and mascara with a dry cake and brush. I used Noxema from 6th grade through college at Purdue! Thank you for the wonderful memories.💕💕

Raven Red and Revlon Red are two separate colors. Raven is my favorite, but I’ve worn both off and on for many years. Raven launched in 1945 and Revlon in 1988. Both are still produced.😊
I remember when Revlon had a makeup counter in Macy's Herald's Square. It was to the right of the up escalator, and the counter was always busy. My favorite Revlon polishes were Fire and Ice and Cherries in the Snow. It was always an event going up to that counter and looking at all the lovely things there. I especially loved the eye shadows and the lipsticks.
Cherries in the snow, was the color my mom wore. I never forgot that name. I think their next big color was fire and ice. Persian melon came after that. The names they used were very romantic.
I know as recent as 10 years ago you could still purchase Fire and Ice in stores. Also around 10 years ago they did a vintage collection where they released vintage colors with the 60s looking Revlon font. I believe it was called Pink in the Park, it was a perfect early 60s cotton candy/bubble gum pink. I wish I could still grab it from stores.

I read an article a very long time ago and I distinctly remember Revlon's Fatal Apple was a color that was launched in the late 30's, early 40's. You have an incredible find! Another vintage color that Revlon still makes from 35 years ago, is Vixen. The lipstick shade is long D/C'd, however as recent as a year ago they still made the nail polish color which is modern and vampy. Very similar to Chanel's infamous dark maroon shade "Vamp" but in a single coat it is quite more red. Check it out! It's lovely!
I had one of those kit, a present 🎁 from Christmas 🎄 1969. The case was red. And loved the nailpolish with the thing on the top. For me was good because I have large hands. Love ❤, love ❤ your video, is Saturday and I am enjoying all your videos.
Wow what lovely items. That nail kit is in excellent condition. The fatal Apple looks very usable. Loving the nail polish remover. I love revlon, have cherries in the snow lipstick and nail polish. Major revlon fan, I wish they would bring back some of their light polishes,I'm a frost kind of gal. And as another said miss the moon drops lipsticks, green tube. 💯👌🏻💕🐈

I just found your channel and love it! I found this article which answers some of your questions. I sold cosmetics in a department store in mid to late 1970’s. Revlon anchored the department on one end with Estée Lauder at the other. I worked for Clinique which was and is part of Lauder. I remember hanging out at the Revlon and Max Factor counters because of all the beautiful more glamorous colors they offered compared to Clinique at that time. Anyway, one of my favorite colors of Revlon nail Polish was called Windsor Rose. According to the article it was launched in the 1930’s the same decade as Raven Red, and produced into the 70’s and 80’s. It was a dusty mauve-rose shade which was very popular in the 70’s. I have seen it on Pinterest so I am not the only one who remembers it!
What an amazing find. The tools in your set look new. In 1975 when I was 20 I bought my mother a nail grooming kit made by Revlon in a faux suede. I purchased it at Sears for $25. At the time it was a considerable sum for me. When she opened it on Christmas Day she absolutely loved it. I really like the way you use books and magazines as props. Thank you for sharing. By the way Fatal Apple must be very popular because I couldn’t find it anywhere. I bought Wine With Everything in creme. I haven’t had a Revlon lipstick in at least 20 years. It’s beautiful. I only wish the tube was of a better quality.
This reminded me to look up Hildegarde Rose, which I suspect hasn't been available under that name in quite a while. I only know about Hildegarde because of that "I Dream Too Much" song from the Beales of Grey Gardens trailer. Also, I really like the print on your dress. Is it vintage or repro or inspired? On my display the print seems kind of 40's. I like fairly-even florals that aren't so big that they wear me as a petite individual. :) I came here both via the Ultimate Fashion History Facebook group and my own TH-cam recommendations; I like the idea of your videos! I think you forgot Revlon “Fire & Ice “. I’ve worn that shade for, years. Along with the Lipstick. I read that was ,the first color to launch , along with “Cherries in the Snow” , Lipstick. I was so happy to, see the long white handle. Why did they ever discontinue that look, with the bottle. If ever you watch “Breakfast at Tiffany’s “ you’ll see Audrey Hepburn, polishing her nails in frosted white, holding the handle. I’d give anything to have the “old fashioned “ bottle again ,just to have sitting on the mirror on my dressing table. Thanks for the show.

I am in a desperate search for a package of the old 'Revlon Nail Smoothers'. They were a thin and pink nail file. The grit was very fine, so as to smooth out ridges. I wish they still made them. The files of today are much too thick, although many grits are available on the web. Anyone have any leads? Anyone here remember these particular files?
I also thought it was still available so I had a Google (and a dealer colour). It’s still available here in the UK so maybe a bit more digging to find it. I remember wearing it years ago.

Revlon still makes Raven Red nail polish. It is my favorite red. I got my daughter hooked on it too. I just wish I could find it in lipstick form!

Raven red is still around in a dark burgundy red bottle. Revlon Red came out in the 1980s.
