Thank you for doing this series of videos. My friend and I are overhauling a 1977 series III SWB. Working on the front axle next week. Your videos are very helpful indeed.

Nice job. Just about to watch Part 2. I think the paraffin lamp is a brilliant idea - heat and light in one package!

    Great job as always 👍🏻
I did the swivels on my 90 last weekend it's quite a satisfying job.

Nice video. Nothing wrong with a lot of Britpart stuff, I just find the rubber bits wear out a bit quickly, but the swivel balls, pins, bolts, etc are all good. Oh, and I love that you long trips are 100 miles in England. My longer trips in Australia have been 3,000 to 4000Km each time in my 101 doing 600Km a day - you feel that after a while I can tell you. :)

Swivel housings on our '79 Lightweight are identical, but with 10 spline shafts. The big rubber seal on the back is a weird one, it is just pressure sealed against the lip on that metal ring. We think it's the lip on the inside of the seal that stops oil just spewing out everywhere but it's an interesting solution nevertheless. We're literally putting our swivels and axels back together now too, so this is remarkably well timed! 😀

Way better than mine, mine had been shoved together and had a crap ton of sealant in it.... And had sploged out inside contaminating bearings...

Can you let us know where you get those drive member seals? All i ever seem to get are the thin useless ones that always leak.. :(

Will the front axle just slide out like the rear axle?

Answered my own question. No such luck!
