Thank you! I managed to escape rebuilding either of mine at the time of restoration but this one evidently needs some attention now. Fingers crossed I can manage it!
Really enjoyed this video thanks as I'm about to fully restore a back axle. Sorry, I don't intend this to sound negative, but I couldn't help feeling all the way through that you would have benefitted from the differential being thoroughly cleaned before you detached it from the axle.
For cleaning up grotty housings, I find a good degreaser (I use swarfega jizer) and a soft wire brush works well for getting the worst of it off, then when it's fairly clean some brake cleaner and toothbrush/blue roll to get it to paintable state.
@@restosaga do you think when doing 4.12 on a disco 1 diff the carrier and spider gears will brake easily? I already have hd half shafts ready for the new set up but, im concerned if i should upgrade the carrier ( no lockers )
Great video I have to rebuild a 2006 HSE sport nonlocking differential. If you can share the store email from where you bought the worm and crown gear , it will be a great help. I am in USA and it's not easy to get these parts around. An email and a contact number will help.
Thanks for watching! I gave up on this project as it was going to be uneconomical to repair and never actually bought a crown or pinion gear. All the best with your project!
Great information video
Thank you!
Amazing work
Thank you!
Great video, really simplifies the process. Hoping though that neither of my Series 3's need a diff rebuild in the near future!

I’m afraid I wouldn’t be enough of an expert to advise on this one, sorry! Maybe enquire with Ashcroft Transmissions?
Helo nice gear
Thanks!
How did that big gear break off so many teeth? Abuse?
The wheel spun then caught in snow one year. Not abuse.
@@restosaga Spinning a wheel in snow wont do that. Maybe if you spun it on ICE and then hit dry pavement it could do that.
I was driving when it happened.
👍🏻🙂
Thanks for watching!
