I got those at the craft store and glued a spool to a large peg then glue a heavy washer at the bottom-- I made 4 as different sculpts have a different connector…

Do you seal the heads? With some sort of protective layer
Yes, each is sealed Liquitex or Mr Super clear

I use matte finish…. You can brush it on and it will leave a satin finish

Generally I use Tamiya grey…. Recently now just using black paint as a primer then coating it with Liquitex matte varnish as a starting point

It can be if you want a shiny/gloss look…because you need to brush it on it will be thicker….if too thick- it will dry white
