    A supercharger on a high compression motor isn’t really worth it better off with a different motor they should of put a small v8 from factory anyways but the 3.5 is a good overbuilt motor and will last a long time

    • @AntilleanConfederation
      @AntilleanConfederation 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I’m ever so pissed that Tacoma never gets a v8 option. It would steal sales from the tundra and that is the only reason. With a updated v8 it would pull better mpg also. A corvette gets amazing mpg because that motor don’t need much to get it moving. Same applies to this. A taco with a v8 would be a near perfect truck.

    Since you're still in break in mode, when you get to the 2nd part of this story, can you tell us how you got past the rev-limiter issue. When I put the 529 gears on mine, it revs and pulls so fast it hits the redline and cuts fuel to the engine. Please let us know. Thanks, oh and to Jeff h... just the gear change alone made mine feel like my tundra. I tested pulling over 10000 lbs on my uncle's trailer, and it had zero problems doing it. Of course it's not set up to pull that much wait, so I won't do that, but it pulled it with ease. I can definitely tell you with a supercharger and the gear change, that thing is more than a V8. Just because the horsepower numbers are lower, doesn't mean it translates to less power or speed

    Being an owner of a gen 3 tacoma, I really have to say that the v6 in this truck is really dreadful. In order to get it to be useful you have to drop 10k and are stuck using 91 octane going forward which is insane to me. Im gonna be that guy and say toyota should have just taken the 2jz motor, updated it, and made it the standard engine in the tacoma. If you're a casual driver that does tow/haul this engine is ok but even still, it merges slower than molasses in January. Very reliable though.

      Probably very close to this supercharger or procharger kit and install. Both this magnuson supercharger as well as procharger both cost around $7500.00 for the parts. The labor is said to be $150 hours, and the job takes a solid 10 hours to complete, regardless of which supercharger you use. So you're looking at close to $10,000 when you factor in everything.

      No it doesn't. The new hybrid only makes more torque, but its a hybrid...those are gay with batteries that degrade overtime. A tuned 2nd/3rd gen will outrun the new iForceMax Tacos. That is before header/exhaust mods (huge gains) and before you start playing with smaller pulleys.

      When you start doing mods it becomes more about smiles per gallon than miles per gallon. but I don't have an answer to your question :)

      depends on your foot but usually it drops to around 15 not including other mods

    If you wanted power you needed to build a tundra. That 4.0 v6 is trash for horsepower. It’s just not built for it . 3URFE in the other hand it’s amazing.

      That's a 3.5 V6 and you are comparing it to a big V8 , a Tacoma is not for racing anyways.

      I'm sure people have 3UR swapped their Tacomas as well. But this is a kit that nearly anyone can tackle in their garage to get a good boost of power on their already owned and loved Tacoma.
