Beautiful job with this interview, Petrik! I’ve really been enjoying hearing Joe Abercrombie in interviews with this lead up to The Wisdom of Crowds. Lord Grimdark comes across as very personable and fun.
Petrik, on a scale from 1-10 how difficult was it not to gush about how much you love Joe’s books instead of asking all those professional questions? 😁
Now I see the great fascination about this Author, he really comes out as exuding with intelligence, humour and yet sarcastic(and he knows it), as they say a Brilliant and wonderful conversation Petrik!!!!! These types of mini convos are what makes your booktube so interesting!!!!!
This was such a genuine awesome conversation. No offense to other booktubers, but seeing your genuine interest with Joe made this the best interview I've seen for sure. Great job Petrik!
Interested in the question about where First Law could move into, should he continue. Not quite a sci-fi setting, but I could very much see a follow up series being solid flintlock fantasy...which would be AMAZING.
Petrik you legend, I was just thinking I wish I had one more hour long Abercrombie interview to watch before my Wisdom of Crowds arrives in the next couple days and then I see this!
Thanks a lot for the interview! I love all of Joe's books, but still the first trilogy of the law is forever in my heart and in my head. Logen Ninefingers and Ferro Maljinn! Will we never see them again? Nothing is known about the woman at all. Will we never know about this? I wonder what Joe would say about this? I think I'm not the only one who is interested in this
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. I think the characters of the First Law trilogy will remain the best in our hearts, even though the new characters are all incredibly well-written as well. As for your question, I don't think we'll ever see Logen Ninefingers again; Red Country seems to be his final book. As for Ferro, I think this question has been asked to Joe a few times, and if I'm not mistaken, it remains to be seen in the future. :)
I watched a lot of interviews with Joe and this might be one of my new favourites! Thanks a lot for your wonderful and thoughtful questions. Can't wait to meet him in person during the Wisdom of Crowds launch in London later this week.
@@musicgenius1948 I've enjoyed his chats with other authors during last year's The Trouble with Peace release which were organised by Orbit and streamed via Crowdcast and his reddit AMAs. Also the most recent Q&A via Orbit. The Brothers Gwynne and Mike's Book reviews also did an interesting interview with him. I just appreciate how they went out of their way to ask Joe different questions since it seems he always gets asked the same things - about his influences, characters and writing process. Also highly recommend the Friends talking fantasy podcast - Joe was on it today and it dives deeper into the lore and characters than most interviews.
Thank you so much! That's very kind of you, I'm glad to hear that. I made sure to try asking different questions than Brothers Gwynne and Mike to avoid repetition. Also, so cool that you get to meet him in person! Mention me to him? 😆 I need to check out that podcast!
Amazing interview Petrik! Some really great questions that strayed away from the standard ones and got great answers from Joe! Learnt a lot of new stuff.
Thank you so much! I purposely made sure that my questions are different from other interviews. My subscribers and followers asked some awesome questions, too!
Thank you, Lauren! That means a lot to me. Joe is one of my favorite authors, and I was so nervous interviewing him. Always glad to hear the interview went well! 😄
Hey Petrik, really loved the interview! I also liked the fact that you had a constant smile on your face which shows how much you love First Law and at the same time keeping the interview professional! Looking forward to more such author interviews 👍🏼 Cheers!
Thank you so much! Haha, it was hard to keep the grin off my face. There should be two or three more author interview for the rest of this year, with the next one being Michael J. Sullivan! :)
Well done. You did a great job. Honestly this is the first Abercrombie interview I've watched. Great insight. I'm not sure I've ever been more excited for a release of a book. Can't wait to read it.
This was so good! Thanks Petrik! Abercrombie is so interesting to listen to and seeing his sense of humour in person makes complete sense why I laugh out loud when reading Jezal’s chapters 😂. I will have to come back to the spoiler section when I’ve read a whole load more of his books haha. (Currently reading Last Argument of Kings!)
Thank you so much, Brittany! Joe is hilarious and wise to talk to. I feel like every book in The First Law always has some moments that made me really laugh. That doesn't happen often. Happy reading to you! Last Argument of Kings is amazing! :)
You're welcome! There's definitely a lot of things about writing craft to learn from Joe's answers. I love the one that he explained regarding how he do battle scenes the most!
I'm downloading it right now! So stoked! This is an amazing interview for you to land Petrik. If not for your review recently on goodreads, I'd not have even known he had a new book coming out. I'm usually much better at keeping up with releases.😅 Congratulations again and I'm excited to start reading it!
@@PetrikLeo Oh, I have no doubt it will be amazing! I'm going to finish the return of the thief, by Megan Whalen Turner first. As fast as I read (listen), it won't be long! 😆
@@PetrikLeo I quite enjoyed the first few of them. Honestly, it's been so long since I've read them, that I think I should have reread before I read this one. It spans such a large amount of time, but I think you probably enjoy it quite a bit. I'd recommend giving the first book a shot at some point to see if you are interested in reading the series. From what I recall, the first book actually isn't very long.
Hello Petrik. Really good and interesting interview. Now that The Wisdom of Crowds is published I think I will start reading the trilogy in late 2021. I was waiting for the whole series to be ready and I could read the books at once📘🤓
Wow 😮 fantastic video!! I’ve purchased joe Abercrombie books but I’ve just got to read his books probably will read them soon... happy reading to you!! 🎬📚📖
I love all his books except his latest, The Wisdom of Crowds. It really seemed to drag along, and just didn’t like the ending at all. I know that’s personal preference. There were no characters that came remotely close to the greatness of Sand Dan Glokta (he was in it in a diminished capacity for a brief time) or Logan Ninefingers. These were exceptional characters and hard to live up to. Maybe I just expected something more. Anyway I will still keep buying his books I absolutely loved the rest.
Interesting, I finished Wisdom of Crowds yesterday and I personally think it's one of Abercrombie's best book so far. I definitely agree though that Sand dan Glokta was brilliant as always. But yeah, Logen and Glokta are two super iconic characters that are hard to live up to! 😄
Beautiful job with this interview, Petrik! I’ve really been enjoying hearing Joe Abercrombie in interviews with this lead up to The Wisdom of Crowds. Lord Grimdark comes across as very personable and fun.

When’s your interview with Joe scheduled Phillip?
@@pillarmusic1641 I wish! Perhaps someday - it would definitely be an enormous honor and pleasure.
“All your questions will be answered, but except the ones I don’t answer” LMAOOOOO Joe you’re killing me man 😂😂😂
Bahahahahhaha!! It's either that or "your answers can be found on... BOOK 3 OF THE AGE OF MADNESS TRILOGY THE WISDOM OF CROWDS!"
@@PetrikLeo I now know where he got the humor from
"gates opened" If I thought the chaos of the revolution was wild, I can't even imagine the sound and fury of demons returning to the world.
It would be so terrifying. Who knows, maybe Joe will do that if he write more books in First Law World someday!
Petrik, on a scale from 1-10 how difficult was it not to gush about how much you love Joe’s books instead of asking all those professional questions? 😁
