I would be really fascinated to see Gosling drafted in Montreal. I just loved seeing her and O''Neill produce at worlds and in my mind O'Neill came back from worlds with a ton of confidence. From what I read the first 20 players are all pretty good, so i'll live with anyone.
great episode! One of the things I like about your podcast episodes is that you don't just focus on the player side, but will also seek to look into surrounding insights on the game like talking with agents/other reporters/etc.
Thank you, I do try to give a well-rounded view, there are so many variables and it’s really fascinating to see things happening so quickly for the league. A few missteps for sure but the positivity is overwhelming, too. Maybe I should interview the equipment managers, hardest-working people around!!
@@gamedayhockey OMG! please do that! the unsung heroes. I'm legitimately interested in all the things I've heard from the equipment managers so far. It's also so interesting when you think about how since the league was formed so quickly, people in all aspects of the game (not just players) were suddenly given this opportunity to drop what they were doing and take a chance on this brand new thing.
Just read all six teams have denied putting a ‘don’t draft’ beside Britta Curl’s name. I don’t know what to think. Now the The Hockey News has placed her in Toronto in their mock draft. Before it was Montreal. No Canadian team wants her, knowing their fan bases won’t approve. I doubt she would have a moment’s peace while on ice. And her rehabilitation is not her teammates’ responsibility! I for one am dreading Monday! Great show as always. You are so thorough! 😊
Don’t dread it, just watch and see what happens… I think the PWHL has shown a lot of inclusivity and wouldn’t expect them to drop the ball on this one. It will be interesting, I addressed it but had to cut for time, this podcast was too long!
This year is going to be incredibly competitive. If NY gets a solid 2-3 players they could win it all. You can throw a blanket over all 6 teams as that’s how close they will be.
Don't sound like the teams have the budget yet to have performance based pay. All structured around where you were drafted including 2023 draft picks. Locked in 3 players last year got a big pay day and the others don't get paid much.
As Eleni said, she hopes it was a miscalculation/ honest mistake that has led to a couple of years of salary disparity. The unsigned players are going to be fighting for a few thousand at the bottom of the salary structure until those three year deals expire.
@@gamedayhockey I'm quite sure it was an oversight or somebody got some assumptions wrong. Very interesting with Eleni, who gives a view of what goes on behind the scenes. Never seen that before. Very cool
Imagine making 37-38K and having a percentage going to an agent on top of this! The current free agents returning, like Natalie Snodgrass, are really doing it out of passion. For players like Claire Thompson (medicine) and Abby Boreen (pharmaceuticals) I have the impression they will play a couple of years to have that awesome life experience, but they will eventually return to their original career plans . Not dissing the PWHL for the low salaries, they have to start somewhere and I don't doubt the end goal is that every player regardless of skill can make as good a living playing vs other career options, but it's not there yet
Imagine Poo and Hilary are in the $100-$150k range. And not everyone has a ton of endorsements like Sarah Nurse does. She’s in the seven figure range. But your not giving up a doctors salary to play in the PWHA
I think Toronto kind of keeps the players and Canadian identity. I don’t think they stray far from that. Yes, we need another Spooner type player, defence and good backup goalie. I won’t be surprised if they go after Serdachny. Tulus would be good for the team but I get the feeling that Toronto wants to stay Canadian.
@@leecox6241 Ohhh I know. Just hoping to see it. My niece is 4 and she will watch with me sometimes. So maybe in 5-10 years we will have a somewhat local team I can take her to see. I do believe the younger the better. Either way I want to see this league succeed. Even if it stays relatively small.
Amazing watch. Very glad for the new upload! Perfect after work relaxation.

Thank you so much Michael! I am happy to bring this content to you and I appreciate your support!!
WOW Fantastic interview. Cannot wait to see all the europeans next year!! Great work again!
Thank you thank you thank you! Yes, a lot of great players, Noora T is a special talent.

Yes, I think it will be close competition again in the standings. No team is that far behind even the first place team.

Love the podcast. Leave the betting sponsorships on the outs
I wonder who will be this year’s Natalie Spooner. Dark horse at 4th Round 23rd overall and led the league in scoring
Her draft spot was given to Toronto due to compassionate circumstances as a new mom.
This year's steal is gonna be Tulus or Daniel.

I doubt Serdachny's still there when their turn comes up, but we'll see
Yeah I think she’ll be long gone before Toronto gets to pick.
Hoping Dallas gets a team soon enough. Truly hoping to see this league take off and make good on this first season. Love it!
Expansion is going to take a while.

I want Emmy Fecteau in mtl!
She would be a nice fit!
