It's funny how bullish some people are on Fillier, and others just not at all. She already has a hat trick lol.
So excited to kick off another season! Of course predictions will probably not stand the test of time. Mine never do.
Yeah! Stecklein mentioned! She's my favorite player. But since she's more of a pure defender she doesn't often get the spotlight on her. (although that wicked longshot from the preseason game certainly did). I can't wait to see how the season shapes up. So much potential across all the teams.
"Les Savage et Sauvage ainsi que leur dimuntif Sauvageau rappellent le caractère peu sociable du porteur, comme le solitaire qui vit dans la forêt sauvage, qui vient de salvage ou salvaye, qui en est une variante" Extrait de "Votre Nom et son histoire, Les nom de famille au Québec" (2006)
Translation : "The names Savage and Sauvage and their shortened version Sauvageau remind us of the less sociable character of their wearers, likening them to the solitary figure which lives in "la forêt sauvage" (literally the savage forest in english modern lingo, untamed and wild) a word which comes from both "salvage" ann "salvaye" which is a derivative." From "Your name and its history : the family names of quebec" (2006...so basically yeah... it's a common root, but we rarely use Sauvage as a "badass" epithet the way english people use Savage, but maybe we should. G.
@@guillaumelevasseur277 interesting. When I heard the word "sauvage" it was often in a derogatory sense.
@@guillaumelevasseur277 I like it though, in either language. Imagine having SAVAGE on the back of your jersey...! Daniele Sauvageau is a winner, plain and simple.
It feels wrong seeing the Sceptres without Spooner like the Avengers without Ironman or Cap. Defenders I get Fast and Larocque are their main line but I hope to see Flanagan get more showcase she proved she can deliver in the Pittsburgh match against Montreal I think the problem is she didn’t have a compatible partner last season. If not for Jenner the Charge wouldn’t be on my radar but Serdachny is definitely one to watch she’s along the lines of Spooner and Julia Gosling as a Forward. No surprise on Victoire, Sirens, or Fleet they’re sticking with what works.
Okay I did not really get the “escape rule” but the way you guys talked about it made me really excited for it! There are so many possibilities around it. I didn’t even consider what happens if it’s a defender going off, then having three forwards on a PK? lol that’s crazy. Or yeah if you lose your centre, thats also tough. So thank you for going into detail on that. Such a great time! I hope you guys are able to connect for more of these cause you have really great thought provoking conversations on the game 😊
Thanks pdub! There are a lot of intricacies and I'm sure we'll see some interesting scenarios happening. It's the PDUB, they like to make things dramatic, i.e. a bit crazy!
Hope she can make it back!
You're the best. That's a brilliant bit of wordplay!
Yay!!! 😃😃😃
Attended a QMJHL game the year Centre Videotron opened and was lucky to be in a crowd of over 17k, beautiful arena and great atmosphere... reason why I did not hesitate to secure myself a seat for the Jan 19 game. I think the league made excellent pairing choices for the neutral site games, except for Raleigh
Will Trump create difficulties for fans of both sides when they cross the border? Seriously. 😮 Nice to hear someone important believes the Western expansion will require a Western Conference. It is the sane way to go.
I think that this would be the smart route. Encourage the continued development of women's hockey the province. It also provides more content for RDS as well, you want to be able to televise games that have good crowds attending. Canadian rinks have larger attendance.@@guillaumelevasseur277
I don’t remember much from her last season in New York. Hopefully the home cooking will bring out the best in her.
If you go back and watch some highlights, she's really noticeable - big power forward, was one of the bright spots for New York!
don't be fooled by coach's Ryan's understated demeanor. Coach Ryan is fiercely competitive and the trend setter for all coaches in the PWHL. The PWHL has been a defense first league and it has a lot to do with coach Ryan's mentality. He preaches defense first and is a credit to all coaches.
Hometown player! She's going to be a great addition!
The beauty of a 6 team league and short season is that every team is good, every game matters, and rivalries kind of exist between every team.
Nice Merch!!! Say, what are they drinking?... just wondering :) Go Sceptres!!!! 🏒🥅🏒🥅 ♥
The blue and gold is so stunning! Idk what they're drinking, it looks... brown.
probably chocolate protein shakes. My brother drank them and he’s a swole as a super saiyan.
I hope Izzy can handle the rough going! She has such a small frame
Jesse Compher's goal in the playoffs was the best moment of the year for Toronto.
That was an amazing goal 👍👍👍🎉🎉
Be careful or you will get stung by the killer Bees.
@@markd8469 I thought it worked… 😳
Two great leaders Emma and Blayre! They never take a shift off ! They go “full out” every time they are on the ice! Two of my favourites
@@markd8469 Add in Emma Woods, and it is a coach’s line for sure, easy to put on the ice in any situation!
@ I can’t wait to see Emma Woods play on that line. Definitely will be tough to play against
Love it!
I can confirm that she wasn't joking about always coming up to great the fans. At multiple home games I went to here she came up to talk to fans and take pictures and sign things. I have yet to ever see a fan walk away from meeting her without a big smile on their face.
@@Daemonkryn Absolutely! She is known to be so generous with her time and always giving back to the fans.
What's the no escape?
@@HippieP629 The same players who were on the ice when a team that committed a penalty have to start the penalty kill together.
@@gamedayhockey Ahhh, ok, thanks GDH. So everyone's gonna be upping their PK skills now =)
@@HippieP629 Although… it might take away from our beloved jailbreak goal because some of the PK time is taken by those No Escapees
thts is totally it Yaylor, do the fans, please all Pwhl players meet the girl fans !!! If every pro player did the same
Let's go Frost!!!❤🎉❤
Hopefully she can handle the physicality of the PWHL. I heard Tessa on Jocks N Jills mention that would be the biggest challenge for her. Good luck
What a class act! She’s such a great ambassador for the sport!
She really is! Great person.
Never heard a professional athlete be so positive about their injuries. Heise clearly has a great group of people around her.
Yes, it shows you how people in sports can be positive and generous. Inspiring.
She truly is the big sister of the defenders. I get she and Larocque the main draw but I really hope other D’s like Flanagan and Munroe plus the new draft get more ice time.
Wow Renata seems like the best person to talk to! She’s seems like she’d be such a great person to go to as a rookie for any advice or just to calm your nerves. Great questions as always Cee Bee! These interviews are always so fun especially compared to nhl ones 😆
Thanks pdub!
Great interview!
She was Team Canada's best defenceman at the Worlds earlier this year
Agreed!
I love her - great player and person!
She really is, both on and off the ice.
Good old farm girl, doing well the the big city.
She’s the best ❤
I wonder why she only signed a 1 year contract...MOre money available next year or wanted to play for another team. I've noticed both American and Canadian players have a desire to play in their own countries. Make sense to me but bad for the league. Just look at Minnesota...If they could it would be an all Minnesotan team with some Wisconsin and N. Dakota players mixed in.
It was just to maximize earning potential. She can’t leave after one year anyways.
@@SAflying87 She signed a one year contract...Why can't she leave?
@@richardlaub889 NY owns her rights for 2 years
@@SAflying87 She could sit out a year.
@ She’s not gonna sit out an Olympic year.
Did the coach mention if she was gonna play wing or center at all?
Not yet.
@ I wish there were more media members covering NY. Every other team has had people sharing videos and lines etc already. Thanks for posting this

My Litmus test for Québec as a PWHL destination will be the attendance of the neutral site game. Had a thought for you when i listened to Danièle Sauvageau's call of Barnes's injury. As you could imagine she stayed super level-headed. :P I will nevercarry the pretense to have any good sense when it comes to colour schemes. Keep up the good work!
PWHL: please keep the you tube games broadcast.
I have no doubt Halifax would support their team, but I doubt the city will ever get a bigger arena. I can see a day when the current 6.5 to 10k arenas will not suffice. The WNBA is starting to face this with Uncasville (Connecticut Sun) not having a NBA/NHL arena like the other eleven cities to face increased demand
Great Episode for content (& of course, conversation)! Excellent Offseason Recap. Can't wait for the season opener! (Hopefully here on TH-cam? Fingers crossed!)
Even though I'm out west, I'm not eager to see teams out here at this stage in the league's development. It needs the sustainability of easier/cheaper travel. For that reason I think Quebec City would be awesome, especially with there not being an NHL team there currently (and I don't think there will be one tbh). I wonder how the state of a city's current NHL team factors into these decisions. Like, with the Penguins heading into the wilderness soon... would that make it easier or harder to market a women's team?
Am reading this right?!? Are the Penguins considering leaving Pittsburgh? (apologies, but I don't follow NHL news at all so I'm in the dark) Even though I live in Mid-America (U.S.) & I too would Love to see Quebec City be rewarded (for their interest & considerable infrastructure investment efforts) to bring in a Pro Hockey Franchise. Along with that, I genuinely would love a 50/50 Split for PWHL expansion between our two countries!
@@stuartmehlberg808 No no they're not leaving!! I just mean they're entering the transition time leading up to their stars' retirements. Penguins without Crosby IS the wilderness ha ha. And tragically, even with Crosby and Malkin still playing well, they are losing badly
