The original plan was to make "How to Play The Empire", but after two full campaigns as Franz I didn't have a story that was interesting enough for a video (not because the campaign is bad, my playthroughs were just lacking in good storytelling drama). Decided instead to go with Gelt and his magic, since that was one of the most interesting experiences I had while playing, but I've deliberately called it "The Golden Order" so there's still room for more general empire goodness in the future.

Playing is gelt is so much fun he's just so broken especially in sieges where you can wipe out most of the enemy army before they even reach your forces, and once you pair him up with some rocket batteries you've basically won the game

Was expecting stacks and stacks of hellstorms, instead got a staunch line of greatswords and danger close casting. Never something standard with you, that's for sure.
It's interesting because Gelt would seem to be a pyrotechnics-loving dude, but his spells and his faction wide armor buff actually work best for your own infantry and cavalry.
To be honest, i cannot wait for a "How to Play The Exiles of Khorne" with 3k+ weapon strength skarbrand with hp regen defeating the campaign on his own.
Honestly, these "How To Play" series of videos has me emotionally invested. I'm so deeply satisfied every time we get a new one. The presentation is slick, they have an actual narrative arc to them, and the choice of using a whole piece of music instead of just bits and clips makes them feel so whole and complete by the end. Love ya work, Yrridian.
A lot of other spellcasters might have better spells, but that doesn't mean shit when you cast Searing Doom 8 million times and turn their Frontline into shredded cheese

Spells and WoM are an action economy balance. The more effect per WoM you get, the better it is. This means a dirt cheap/free but mediocre spell can be better than a super strong but expensive spell, simple as.
the little cry for surprise/scream at the end had me cracking up, I hope that when immortal empires comes out for III that you continue making these kinds of videos (and that you do get that bigger white board lol)
I love that you use classical music for these. If you ever make one on Kislev, I feel like the 1812 Overture would be a good fit since Kislev is basically just Russia anyway.

Has it been 50 years already. Oh how time has passed. Yrridian coming down from the heavens, throwing gold wolves at our faces then going back away riding a big whiteboard with a to do list written on it.
In late game, i always go witth a steam tank doomstack with Gelt. Yes it almost costs 10k gold, but it's incredibly powerful, and having a Panzer division in WH 2 is kinda funny too.
it cracks me up the gelt is the only reason lore of metal becomes viable at all I mean if you had the patience you could win an entire seige on just him and his mana pool alone once searing doom starts costing 1 mana.
Played him same way once. Siege? He alone came to the gates and casted his spells non-stop. Took some time, but with mana-regenerating stick he had literally unlimited magic.

Check out Enticity's Franz This is Total War campaign. Pretty much the only way to generate dramatic tension as Franz is to shake up the game a bit.

Yeah artillery is really op in most total wars for example fall of the samurai i always destroyed armies without moving
