Thank you for reacting to this! This is a nice... introduction to the series, with some missing stuff, but mostly to the point. Now... The Game Theorists made a series of 4 videos with *YEARS* of FNAF lore on them, the "GameTheory: FNaFs Ultimate Timeline", but it's quite long. If you are interested in watching it, you could make a single video, or the preferred option, make a single video for each episode.
I am 100% down to see Seb react to non-movie/show content.
If you want to really learn the lore behind this series watch MatPat’s 4 part Ultimate Timeline playlist. It is probably the most comprehensive collection of the lore you’ll find and it’s entertaining as hell
Most of the lore is told through cutscenes and mini games throughout the 10 or so games in the series. The books are meant to help give clues or clarifying details to help solve the lore of the games

lol, matpat's ultimate timeline is one of his worst theories, for example Mrs. Afton who is the villain of fnaf there is no proof, there are a lot of contradictions

Yeah MatPat's ultimate fnaf timeline video is really good. Tell's a linear story, covers everything important and interesting. Also uses scenes and audio from the game which is way cooler than just nothing but talking and summarizing the whole time.

The lore itself: not too complicated
Agreeing on an order in which the events happened: impossible.
That's why fnaf lore is seen as so complicated, because there are 20 different versions of the timeline
as someone who didn’t know the fnaf lore at all and only tried playing a couple games as well but failed, i was recommended matpat’s ultimate fnaf timeline videos and those were very helpful and less confusing to follow along! it also goes more in depth and don’t take that long to finish. i highly recommend them!!
Keep in mind that the movie and the books are 2 different universes from the games. Don't take what's from the movie as canon to the games. Mike Smith, the protagonist of the movie, is the person we play as in the first game. But that person is Michael Afton himself, the son of William Afton. The movie doesn't show us Michael as William's son tho. Also, by that logic, Abby (his sister in the movie) should be dead and possessing Circus Baby (and that kid is called Elizabeth, not Abby). So you see, the games, books and movie are completely separate. Another example is that Charlie, the first kill of William Afton and the spirit possessing the Puppet, is the protagonist of the novels!
So yeah. There are different universes. Like Spider-Man, y know. All different but with some stuff in common.
To clear this up for you Seb, 5:56 some of the lore is shown as "secret minigames." These can be unlocked by; Putting a code somewhere, dying and getting lucky, stuff in the main menu, etc.!!
Although some of these minigames don't take place at the same time as the corresponding game you're playing, most are flashbacks.
7:38 These are minigames that are played after you beat a night in FNaF 4. That's right, one of the earliest parts of the lore are shown in the fourth game.

I was not expecting this to be an actual video, but I’m not complaining because I get to watch more Seb content, especially about Fnaf
Some fun lore with how William killed the original 5 kids.
The behavior of the animatronics in FNAF 1 depicts how they were killed. Chica's mouth is always open meaning she died screaming. Foxy died running which is why he is running down the hall. Freddy died hiding which is why he is hard to see. Bonnie died a freaking legend and fought William which is why he is the most aggressive. (Left William with a sore jaw for weeks)
In FNAF 2 the broken animatronics show what William did to the kids. Foxy was killed with a missing eye and I believe a missing hand hence the hook and eye patch. Chicas mouth was slit open and hands cut off which is why her jaw is disconnected and she is missing her hands. Bonnie did with his face getting cut off which is why he doesn't have a face. I am not sure how Freddy died since he isn't that damaged. It was probably a quick kill.
There is no information about Cassidy and how she died.
The kids going missing, the fact that someone lured them wearing a costume, and the robots smelling all comes from news article clippings in FNAF 1. They are hidden easter eggs that show up sometimes while you play. And from those clippings alone, THE LORE started.
If you want to find out how you actually figure this stuff out, you're kinda gonna have to watch through game theory's whole playlist of fnaf stuff to see how they found all these tiny lore clues and how they pieced them together over time. You wouldnt believe how deep people had to search to find out this stuff =P
or sometimes they look too deep and make up things that arent that complex.. just take a look at mr hippo saying that sometimes a story is just a story with no meaning beyond that. So some things could just be coincidences

Something to keep in mind, the FNAF movie lore isn't connected to the games' lore, the are some big differences like Vanessa isn't William Afton's daughter in the games and Mike is a completely different character
I would recommend the ultimate timeline videos from game theory, it’s 3 videos but it goes in depth and gives you the most up to date lore
6:00 most people seem to have a dislike for game theory but honestly, his videos are a pretty entertaining way of seeing how people find out about the lore little by little. Cause the way people found out all of this stuff as each game was coming out is insane, pure conspiracy theory territory
So we are soon getting the ninth main game - the VR sequel: Help Wanted 2. But overall there are like 15-20 games (ranging from classic FNaF experience, to open world first person survival games, to silly troll minigames, to mobile games) +/- few when you count DLCs (for example Security Breach: Ruin is a free DLC to the newest game, but it's kinda a new game on its own).
Early FNaF games were released in quick succession of every few months, modern are released every year or two (shift from Scott making his Indie games to him collaborating/giving the franchise to actual game studios).
Scott himself also worked and collaborated on dozen books (I believe it was said at some point that he wanted to do that more) and the movie (which personally - feels more like the books, even, if it has a lot of direct references and shots from the games). He has I believe still main control of the lore and the main storylines, but he has given a lot of freedom to the other creators (which is evident with SteelWool games, kinda starting new storyline - post-William Afton).
He has also said multiple times now that he wants to retire from the game franchise, but then again he is commonly trolling and lying, so he probably will be still around.
Check out Mat Pat's Game Theory's final FNAF time line videos there are 4 videos total. Those will help you understand the lore and it is a fun watch. I love your honest reactions btw 😊
There is a lot of interpretations of the FNAF lore! So if you want to know more/different theories then I recommend watching more! Some are big changes, some are small changes, and some people agree upon. But one thing it seems is the games have their own "timeline". The books have their own "timeline". And the movie is establishing their own "timeline". So they are different but basically follow the main plot points lol
Seb would absolutely love The Quarry, it would be crazy to see seb get into horror games

I'm sure others have already commented recommendations for more fnaf lore. if you want much more lore, i, like the others, recommend matpat's ultimate fnaf timeline series (at least parts 1-3), but if you want to go for something a little more silly and funny i highly recommend @the ooftroop's Undeniably Canon FNAF Timeline series, which currently is also up to the beginning of security breach

Security Breach is out, as well as it's DLC: Ruin. The lore they give us is so crazy and confusing that we still aren't entirely sure what is going on.

It's not 100% perfect regarding modern lore due to knowledge from new books and the DLC that came out but it's still mostly correct and it's definitely the largest amount of accurate lore + story in a single set of videos
The reason why so many people freaked out at the animatronic that almost kills Abby is because it's meant to be Circus Baby, and her name is an anagram of Baby.

I almost love/hate that Mariplier's "bite of '87" is laughed at. People forgot that before-hand we only heard about said "bite of '87" but there wasn't much context. Then the new FNAF game comes out & we all see the crying kid get his skull chomped. I personally thought the same thing & was soooo excited to hear what MATPAT had to say.

I'd strongly recommend Wendigoons timeline video, it's a bit longer but it was the video that made the lore make sense for me and he goes into more details about the basics of the lore!

12:00 So the clown in the movie was called Ella. She is character from books, but she is pretty much very alike to the Circus Baby (she was partly used to create Baby in the books lore - we do not know how that translates into the game lore).
20:35 This is the moment in the movie, but with slightly altered storyline (maybe, you are never sure tbh).
24:05 This is actually minimal pay for that year in US.

Matpat (game theory) has made a newer several episode series explaining the full timeline from what they new at the time, before the movie and the newest game dlc. but that so far is the most up-to-date and makes more sense of everything, but a lot of it is speculation and could easily not be true, its just the best they could come up with.

my brother is a big fan of fnaf since 2016, all he knows is that the animatronics are haunted by the ghosts of the kids that were victims of William Afton. and ever since he introduced me to this game 3 years ago, I've become so invested that I played the game from fnaf 1-4 and the sister location. and when i saw that they made a movie, i was so excited to watch it with my brother. i am so happy to see you watch the fnaf lore, now I'm learning more about the storyline of the game.

Love this because I was kind of the same way. Knew nothing about FNAF. Not even the bite of 87 meme, didn’t even know who Markaplier was. But a creator I adore made a video about a year ago and I’ve been obsessed since. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the video because he crafts such a beautiful story that sucks you in. It’s Wendigoon’s FNAF video. By obsessed I I mean-With videos and lore. I can’t play the games, but would love to watch you do it because I’m a scaredy cat too.

The lore of the game were hidden in the game through the mini-games, new articles which will give you more clues about the lore. For example in the game, one of the new paper said security footage caught someone in the Springbonnie suit and lured 5 kid to the back room and they also mentioned that after the 5 kids went missing guests could smell a very bad odor near the animatronics and they even leaked in blood in the creases of the robot which is how many people theorized that the kids were stuffed inside the animatronics after they were murdered. And for more example about Henry Emily’s daughter death, the mini game shown Charlottes got locked outside the restaurant and a purple guy’s car came to her and she got killed so that’s how they gave us a clue about the lore and Charlottes death

I personally think it's more clear and complete + some personal matpat theories
You find out about the Missing Children's Incident and the possession of the Classic animatronics in FNAF 1.
You find out about the Toy animatronics, the Bite of '87, Charlie's murder, the Puppet giving the Classics life, you get your first glimpse of William and first hear about Fredbear's Family Diner in FNAF 2.
You find out about Fazbear Frights, William's Springlocking (and getting sealed behind the wall), the Spinglock suits in general, the retirement of the Springlock suits and the releasing of the souls inside the Classics in FNAF 3.
You find out about the Crying Child, Michael's bullying, and the Bite of '83 in FNAF 4.
You find out about Circus Baby, the Funtime robots, William's remnant expiriments, Michael getting scooped, and Michael being the security guard of the other games in Sister Location.
You find out about Henry, the trap he sets with Michael, and the fire to burn them all down in FNAF 6.
You find out about Cassidy and their torment of William in Ultimate Custom Night.
You find out about Glitchtrap, Vanessa, Not-Cawthon and Vanny in FNAF Help Wanted (aka FNAF VR).
Hope that clears it up. When it comes to how the lore is presented...
FNAF 1 presents it's lore via newpaper clippings that randomly appear on the walls, which you can only see through security cameras. It also presents lore through the dialogue of Phone Guy, who is basically the guide to the first couple games.
FNAF 2 presents it's lore through Phone Guy and cryptic Atari-style minigames that depict certain events, such as Charlie's murder and the posession of the Classics. The Bite of '87 requires you to read into a few details.
FNAF 3 presents it's lore by utilizing the minigames more heavily, using them to show William's fate and the releasing of the children's souls. Phone Guy's dialogue in this is mostly explaining the Springlock suits and their subsequent recall.
FNAF 4 is the first game to have no Phone Guy. Instead, it relies on the minigames to reveal it's entire story.
Sister Location is one of the most story-packed games in the franchise. It doesn't need minigames or Phone Guy to tell you about Michael getting scooped, because you literally play through it. Finding out about Michael being the security guard of the other games as well as William's expirimentation requires (once again) you to read into a few things.
FNAF 6 is probably the most lore-packed game in the franchise. It has optional minigames that show things like the Afton house post-Crying Child's death, Charlie's murder in more detail, William's first official murder victim, and more. You also don't need to be told about Henry setting the trap, because if you unlock the true ending he gives an entire monologue that goes into explicit detail. He calls William an 'old friend,' gives us Elizabeth's name, basically tells us that Michael is once again the player character, and specifically tells us that Charlie is his daughter in that final speech. And it's made clear that he (and Mike) are burning them all down.
FNAF VR is a very interesting case. You find out about Glitchtrap because he is the main antagonist of that game, and you hear about his origins through hidden voice recordings made by the previous beta tester. While you don't technically know it at the time, you are playing as Vanessa in that game, and the DLC tells us what happens to Vanessa by showing us Vanny's mask. We find out about Not-Cawthon via the intro and the voice recordings.
I'd also recommend watching Game Theory's Ultimate Timeline for the more complete story. It's four seperate videos, telling this same story but going much more in-depth.
