These Sonic movies had no right to be this much fun and so entertaining, especially when the initial trailer and design was so bad, but I'm not complaining because these films are awesome and Im excited for the 3rd movie. Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik is perfect casting.

This movie is the poster child for why studios need to actually listen to the fans rather than sticking their head in the sand and trying to bully the audience to accept anything thats put in front of them. If they had stuck with the original design it would have been a complete disaster, but this was the only time i can ever think of a studio going "you know what fair point, lets fix it" and it paid off so well
Yeah there's a sequel to this already out which is actually even better you should definitely watch, plus there's a 3rd movie and a knuckles tv show coming out this year too

@@VagueVAA Ironically, Sony was the company that initially wanted to do these movies back in 2010. They even had the rights to the games on the list that just dropped yesterday. But they dropped the franchise and Paramount eventually picked it up and are running with it.
And given what we just learned yesterday, there are definitely more movies on the way after Sonic 3.

@@VagueVAA Apparently Sony is looking to possibly buy Paramount now. If that happens, then things might get very interesting. It's ironic that Sony who sold the movie rights to Sonic to Paramount is now looking to just outright buy Paramount. I kind of wonder if this was the plan all along.

@@EdenLovesDragonsForSomeReason I think later on they said it was because of Sonic's kinetic energy that just forces him to the bottom of any body of water he's in if he isn't going at full speed over it. He just can't get any buoyancy because of it. But hey, even Superman needs to have his Kryptonite.
As for favorite foods, Sonic likes chili dogs, Knuckles likes grapes, and Tails likes mints (yeah, it's bizarre, but that's what Tails likes).
I honestly think the Sonic Movie was one of the best things to come out of 2020!

This film is a part of the the holy trinity (alongside Detective Pikachu and The Super Mario Bros Movie) that's changing people's minds on video game movies.
Did you see what just dropped yesterday? Changing people's minds on video game movies is an understatement when it comes to the Sonic movies. They're planning on making this into a full on Cinematic Universe, even making remarks implying they want to compete with the MCU. And with the list of games they have the rights to being public now, it looks like they're in a position to be able to start making this happen.

You heard me right. Sonic in the movies has a backstory, internal conflict and real character development. Also you might've noticed this, but this is one of the cutest versions of Sonic we've ever had.
The guy who plays agent stone streams on twitch. A few years ago I lost my dad and passed by his twitch chat and decided to say how I wasnt having too great of a time not expecting anything in return. He saw it and stopped, looked actually really sad and took the time to say how he was sorry I was feeling that way and that he really wished things to get better for me. To this day it really stuck with me, it was just really genuine and ive always hoped the best for him too since

I don't know the exact details of how they redesigned sonic, but the redesign added an estimated $5 million to the production budget and took around 5 months to complete.
Can't wait to see how Sonic will do against the Ultimate Lifeform.
I love the Sonic movies and I think Jim Carrey is at his peak in them. Takes me back to when I was a kid and watched the Mask and his other movies.
The movies are their own thing and while they do retain some small features from the games, it's entirely its own continuity and takes liberties with the series mythos.
23:10 - So fun fact, apparently Paramount spent quite alot of time negotiating with Sega in order for them to give permission to show Sonic's feet without shoes on-screen. So this scene where we see him without shoes is actually a big deal. This shows the lengths that Paramount will go in order to get something for these movies.

I'm one of those people who didn't think the original trailer sonic looked weird, it looked perfectly normal to me. I just thought people didn't like it because he didn't look accurate, I didn't know that it was also because it freaked them out, because it didn't do that to me.

A fun cameo in this movie, which only few will notice (those that are Transformers fans): one of the generals in that meeting at Pentagon is played by the legendary Garry Chalk! The Transformers fans will surely recognize him as the voice of Optimus Primal in the Beast Wars: Transformers and Beast Machines cartoons. As well as the voice of Optimus Prime in Transformers Armada, Energon, and Cybertron.

Hey Seb glad you watched this great movie. Can’t wait for you to react to the sequel 😊. Keep in mind that the creators of the film added Easter Eggs and some essential plot points from the games but the movies are their own story. Oh and Sonic is 15 so still a kid. 😁
My one thing I really wanted in this movie was to have "Don't Stop Me Now" in it. And they actually did it ^^

1:18 - Lore consistency has always been an issue with the Sonic franchise. Although the character's traits and personalities are all pretty much spot-on, most of the lore and background has been re-interpreted or changed for the movies. Don't expect to see a lot of direct connection to the games before the next film. (Plenty of references, though).
1:45 - Rings in the movies are mostly inspired by the Special Zone rings from Sonic 3 rather than the simple collectable Rings from other games.
5:17 - That's actually low mid-range for San Francisco.
8:06 - Jim Carrey is known for throwing himself into a part. When he was developing his persona for Robotnik, he decided that his deal was that he was always ostracized for his supreme intelligence and so he learned at a young age that humans were untrustworthy and that only robots could be relied on.
8:44 - And THIS is why he's called 'Eggman' in this version.
22:42 - Gotta love that one of the switches in his fuse box is labeled 'badniks.' (It's what Robotnik's robot henchmen are called).

It's crazy how bad this movie first looked I am so glad they made the changes because the effects are really good now. The performances are wonderful, Sonic was nailed. Both movies are a lot of fun, more than they had any right to be. Super excited for the 3rd film on its way.
Jim Carrey has managed for Dr Robotnik what RDJ did for Tony Stark. He's really made the role completely and permanently his own. And for what it's worth, personality-wise, we at least know Eggman's a great dad.

I absolutely loved this when it came out! The second one is even better and the third looks promising. I’m a huge Sonic fan so I’m biased but honestly I think they did a great job when it could have been such a train wreck.
