Thanks, Taryl. I appreciate the detail in the explanation. I also admire the "getter' done" speed in which you do this stuff.
I do a small amount of repair / maintenance work (perhaps $300 / 400 worth of stuff / month). A thing that I do because I'm OCD is I clean every single thing I can reach. Between that and my need to put anti-seize on everything this job would have taken me 1 1/2 - 2 hours. I use Mequiars surface cleaner. It's amazing on metal & plastic & is not excessively glossy like Armor All.
Mostly I do it because it drives me nuts not to. But my other excuse is that when the customer comes to pick it up I like the comments I get about how the thing looks amazing compared to what it looked like when it arrived. I also take before / after pics and put them on my website. It's been pretty common that the customer ends up giving me "a tip". On a few rides they dropped an extra $50 over the cost I was going to charge.
Love your videos. They help me a great deal . You're a great teacher.

You mentioned that a rusted flywheel does not affect engine spark. I questioned that, because my dad was a small engine wizard like you and that was the first thing he did was clean the flywheel when there was no spark. This may sound crazy, but I saw my dad in a dream last night. He told me that a badly rusted flywheel changes the coil air gap which does affect spark and you can readjust the gap or sand the flywheel. He said he sands it personal preference.

Your tip of sanding down the magnets on the flywheel made me think. if there is also rust on the old ignition coil contact near the flywheel magnets could that be the reason for a weak spark and also the reason that the snowblower would not start? My old ignition coil has lots of rust on the lower part where it picks up from the flywheel magnets. if I sand out that rust on the old ignition coil is it likely that the old coil would be fixed and would work?

A coil (and parts) for a Toro with that Suzuki 2 stroke engine are expensive also. But those old Suzuki 2 strokes seem to be very desirable. If EPA laws weren't so strict in the USA, these parts would be a lot cheaper. I don't think Suzuki even makes parts anymore cause they no longer supply 2 stroke engines. Same story for an old Wisconsin Robin (now Subaru) 2 stroke engine.

My newer 3650 died on me. I thought the gas was empty and filled it but it won't go. I have 2 of them and swapped around the plug(good) the carb (good) so thought it was the electrical. The machine was surging before it died. I tried continuity on the 2 switch terminals thinking I would get it in the ON position but I got continuity in the OFF position. I guess that is correct? based on your kill explanation? So is there a way to know if it is the coil? Can you take the plug out and see a spark if you spin the wheel?

This is why I never liked those engines. They used a brass electric starter gear on an aluminum flywheel. Junk.

??? i had something like 6snowblowers and they all had plastics gears that would break.
i only rarely used the electric start, but still.

Is it likely that this new part number ignition coil 801268 would work on a Toro CCR2450 snowblower? On Ebay there is a guy selling this new P/N as fitting the Toro CCR2450. The old ignition coil on my CCR2450 is 801108. I think that this new P/n coil can be used on both Toro snowblowers.

Is there a separate ignition module on this 3650 or is it part of the coil? Thanks for your video.
