While I do see why folks complain about the mag capacity, but it the P220 really is a very nice pistol. I was contemplating one for backwoods bear defense ...in which case mag capacity isn't really an issue b/c I'm not gonna get off more than 8 rounds before the bear is either down, running away or mauling me.
The P220 is a very nice platform indeed, but the P220 in .45acp has a 10rd mag as an option, it couldn't be that difficult for Sig to make a 10 rd mag in 10mm. You never know just how large of a bear you may encounter .
Awesome pistol. I just wish it was designed to hold a few more rounds. Update: I went out and bought this beauty today. I'm in love. The single stack makes it thinner than many of my compacts. I'm happy to add this to my EDC rotation. No failures after the first 100 rounds of sig sauer 180gr@1250. Will shoot some underwood 155@1500 next week.
I have this exact one. I noticed Sig offers a 10 round mag for the .45 version but not the 10mm version, which is just weird. I’ve asked them when they’re going to offer a 10 round 10mm mag for the P220 and it seems they have no plans to.
I've had my P220 45 so long the side of it says "Made in West Germany" and had ZERO issues with it after 1000's of rounds. I would expect nothing less from this new 10 Legion. Now I want one!
I think I listened to the intro like 11 times, it was so true and probably a compliment of the good old days. PS my dad has this gun and may he rest in peace because I inherited it and love it.
This is a classic video, you should send it to Sig.! I "settled" for a X-Ten almost 300 rounds threw it, zero malfunctions or issues. I would love a P220 in 10mm.!
I also settled for an X-Ten. I've put about 800 rounds through it with no problems, but I just can't make friends with a striker fired gun. I'm going for the P220 DASA.
@@steven3379 I ended up with the P220 Legion DASA. After shooting it extensively I wish I'd picked up the SAO version. I just might buy one of those also. Who knows. America is amazing with all the choices we have compared to the rest of the world.
The short barreled 10mm handguns are just pointless, IMO. The whole point of the 10mm is to get more energy behind a .40 cal bullet and the short barreled versions kill the velocity. I’ve seen so many guys on you tube try to get their short barreled 10mm’s to shoot at the round’s full-power velocity and they never get there.
I'm jonesing for a 10MM now that I've moved to bear country, but I want more than just power, I want capacity!! That's why I'm going to roll with the Springfield XDM Elite 10MM. Full power loads are tamed by it's captured spring assembly and the magazines are 15+1, double that of any 1911 save for a handful of DS 1911's in 10MM.
Yeah I have this 220 and the xten. I too live in griz country. But like Robin said above that fn 510 looks pretty cool. I think I’m just addicted to 10mm now 😂
I’ve shot thousands of rounds through my P220 10mm and never had one malfunction. I have the SA/DA version and carry it for bear protection. It’s a great piece for when 9mm isn’t enough, but you don’t want to worry about a plastic handgun malfunctioning at the wrong time. Great for hog hunting, too.
Great review! If you are going to get a reliable handgun, don’t skimp on the price or the ammunition and other accessories. Being aware of the budget is fine. There are many guns, new or used that perform well and hold up well. In the issue of the .10mm, the Sig P220 Legion is the one that I want. No other will do(I like the Colt Delta Elite mainly because it is a 1911 and there are many holster options for the gun).
Great review. I have a special edition p220 from my deployment in .45 acp. Where would you recommend someone look for holsters that accommodate an optic and light? I’m looking hard at this legion 10mm as a camp gun upgrade. Familiarity is definitely there.
I’ve never shot a 10mm before But I have shot a p226 legion before and it was O so nice So a tricked out one you have I can only dream of That’s cool U have the private range too Tames the pocketbook w range fees 😂 I bought my stages range pass tho so that’s no longer a worry
I just want to know why chose between power and capacity when you can get a Glock 20 15 +1 up top or a Kris Vector extended mag with 30 rounds of 10mm for less money 🤦🏾♂️
Really really sad that it’s not in 357 Sig also. This might be good for a back up for bear hunting. But the people at Sig at fallen flat on their noses when they quit making these in 357 Sig. I think whoever made that decision needs to be fired.
Cool pistol, but what happened to the controls compared to the older models? The ergonomics aren't good at all. The controls are small and poorly placed. Especially with gloves. If this is fixed I'll carry one!
.40 is a great round and all but 10mm as a cartridge is just a little more accurate combined with 1:10 twist it often gets and extra power helps it group better out farther. I shoot and enjoy both but 10mm is superior if you have a gun that runs the loads you want to run well. Nothing wrong with the .40 though my first gun was a .40 and handloading 135s up to 1350 fps it’s already pushing into 357 mag territory it’s a little harder hitting than +p .45 in a heavier weight. As long as you don’t shoot a girlie 9mm it’s fine by me

If you didn’t want a p220 before you do now!!!! Sig needs to hire this man for all their ads

A robocop reference in my TH-cam video comment section? More
likely than you'd think!
And remember... we care.
I think this one is perfect for this video
_"Bitches leave!"_ - Clarence Boddicker
I just want it in a 4.25 inch double stack configuration.
And SA/DA and stainless steel that would be perfect in my opinion: )

The narrator sounds like a cross between a football announcer and a carnival barker. In other words: it’s a blast!
Man what an introductio!!!! I'm definitely getting one😊
What an absolute unit!
Well, I loved this video. I own a DA/SA P220 Legion in .45, might just need to get this one now.
Clever writing, you got a solid laugh out of me, & a definite eyebrow raise too
Dude, all that stuff you say is real cool and funny, good information thanks for your videos
One day sig will release this in a double stack with high capacity preferably 20+ mags as well. One day one day.
I think not.
@forwhomthebelltolls392 what makes it stand out is that it's not too bulky. Single stack keeps is lighter and more manageable
Shoots better without all the stuff hanging on it. It is a heavy gun to begin with so adding a light and an optic just adds to it. I love mine !!
Opening lines are awesome
I wish they made a legion version of the xten. Its a nice double stack 10mm.. but would love the heft of the steel frame.
Love my 10mm witness it runs anything I put in it. When size mattress 10mm is the way to go.
Designed back when Sig made quality firearms. Wish they still designed guns this good.

Doesnt matter if its 8, 15 or 30 round magazine. If you dont drop the bear with the first round or two, you are going to dinner with that bear! Lol

Typical for high power cartridges. My S&W 1006 does it too, even with a 24 pound recoil spring.
