Great comparison video! I'll take the P220, here's why.
Sigs P220 platform has a proven track record for many years on:
    Reliability, Durability and Accuracy.
The 10mm P220s all Stainless Steel slide and frame give it the heft desired for control when shooting the real full power 10mm loads! The Super strong all metal recoil guide rod with braided recoil spring also help tame recoil. The P220 has a barrel with full chamber support and is reliable with all 10mm loadings. I have shot both the Sig P220 Legion and Scorpion models, out to 50 yards with excellent accuracy using S&B 180gr. fmj. Both P220s scoring 5 round groups of 2.25" and 3.85" Standing unsupported, slow fire. From 25 yards the 5 round groups were just over 1" (1.2"-1.3")!

Just ordered a 220 legion. Thought about the SAO, but I have a 10mm 1911 so I opted for the DA/SA. Excited to get it next week ish.
Also, the updated 220s come optics ready so keep an eye out if you buy one. Some sites are selling the older version without the optics cut for the same price.

@@TheArkansasGunGuy Yep, I'll also confirm the P220 Legion 10mm is milled for optics. I have a Holosun EPS I'm planning to install. Took it to the range yesterday for the first time. Put a couple hundred rounds through it. Zero problems. It shot very well, but I'm going to take it apart and polish the friction points, then swap out the springs for the Armory Craft spring kit; the DA pull needs to be lightened and smoothed out to make me happy.

Based on your other video on this P220 Scorpion it sounds like the chances of finding one is slim and it won’t be at any lower sales price since all but the Legion are discontinued. I’ve had a few P220 models over the years in 45acp that were flawless, but I’m an avid 10mm fanatic myself. My EDC is a G20. My wife saw one of these Scorpions in the store last night priced at 1599 and really loved it. So looks like I better run back in the morning and grab it before it’s gone.

Thanks for a really useful review. I'm not a great fan of striker fired pistols (service pistol just switched to HK VP9...) and had more or less settled on the DA/SA P220 but your review gave me food for thought. Do you really feel that the reset on the XTEN is crisper/shorter than on the 220?

    • @Blakgun

Yes, both do. But the XTen doesn't seem to chamber the 220gr rounds from either of those makers reliably. It feeds the 200gr no problem, but doesn't like the big boolitz. I'm taking a 10mm to Alaska in August for moose season, so I'm going to bring a P220 Legion with the heavy 220gr loads. I'll probably sell my XTen.

@@dtcowlick You're welcome. That is literally the ONLY issue I have with the XTen. Otherwise it's a fantastic striker fired pistol. The initial magazine stiffness is something I see complained about but that goes away soon with usage. I left the mags loaded for a couple weeks and that helped a lot, but just putting a few hundred rounds through the gun fixed it for good. Initially I used a LULA loader to get that last round in. By the way, Blakgun is also me. 😊

How did the XTEN compare to the P220 recoil wise? I imagine it feels more snappy? I'll end up with a 10mm one day but it will have to be a full metal frame, just my preference for that caliber. I believe SIG offered a few 1911's chambered in 10mm as well at one point.

    • @TheArkansasGunGuy
      @TheArkansasGunGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I think you are right about the 1911’s. Right now they don’t have any offered in 10mm tho. I like the metal frame the best but the x10 isn’t too snappy. I traded my Springfield XDM Elite (Compact) for the XTen - super happy with the trade!

I have both the Glock 20 and the X 10. To make the G20
Equivalent you have to spend a few hundred more , both are good guns, With the KKM barrel the 20 will fire any ammo available, The X10 has to be broken in , The x10 mags are too stiff and won’t load 15 rds. The 20 shoots 15 out of the box , The x10 trigger is better than the 20. I had to get a Johnny Glock trigger to make them even

There's a LOT more involved in machining and assembling a precision stainless steel frame and the extra parts involved in a hammer fired pistol. With the XTen they just mold a new frame out of plastic, drop the parts in, and boom, you have another mass produced plastic gun. I have both pistols.

@@adamshaw8214 Well... I have since sold the P320 XTen to my best friend. He loves it. It's a good gun but I prefer the heavy steel frames. I shoot the P220 more accurately than the P320, but that may not reflect on the guns, it could be from a variety of factors. The downsides of the P220 are the lower capacity and the heavier weight, neither of which bother me. The weight soaks up the recoil from the heaviest Underwood and Buffalo Bore loads, and the capacity isn't a thing for me. I bought the gun for carry in Alaska bear country. I think Jerry Miculek is the only guy on earth capable of emptying the gun (8+1) in the couple seconds a charging bear gives to react. The 15 round mags in a P320 wouldn't make a difference.
The only thing I would have done differently is buy an SAO P220 instead of the DASA that I have. I prefer the SAO trigger.
