We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Lovely to see you back here and so sorry we were unable to join you for Dekafok and meet up. I am in hospital recovering from hip replacement yesterday, but will definitely send message to mayor of Manavgat. Crazy that they want to destroy something do positive for their town and Turkey. We love Lake Köyceğiz and often take the van to Süleymaniye hot springs, so will try the Çandır Teras! What is the name of the grill restaurant in Manavgat? ❤️❤️❤️

Sadly it is always fine when otels or bars etc put a billion sunbeds to the beach but when somebody plants some trees it becomes ''too much''!! To be fair according to Turkish laws nobody can own a private beach and entire coast line is under local governments' control unlike some countries. But it is both a good and bad thing as local governments can rent it which leaves some room for corruption. And because Seher doesn't pay any rent it looks like they decided such large area couldn't be occupied..

turkey is certainly very beautiful, with everything it is beautiful .. our people are very hospitable which many countries could take an example of, as a tourist you have a cheap luxury there .. when you ate gozleme I immediately ordered gozleme .. I live in the Netherlands as a Turkish 😂 when I see this like this I want to be there already 😭

As a Turk, I apologize to you for the negative comments under the video. The work you do is very beautiful, it is very nice that you show it to people. But as you know, things work very differently in my lovely country. In my opinion, yes, there may be a border determined by the municipality, but if the area outside these borders will only consist of sand and the municipality will not place anything there, I think this can be tolerated. This is because volunteering is for the benefit of people. As long as they don't earn any income from this business, I think it's negotiable. However, we see that this way is not legal. For this reason, she should discuss the matter before the relevant institutions and ministries. It is a real honor to see you and many responsible and knowledgeable tourists like you in our country. Hi Neil - Levent runs the Osmanli Hani Aparts Dalyan - I have pinned his business card in the community page here on TH-cam - If you follow Seher on Dekafok on instagram or facebook you will be able to follow her movements and contact her to check she is in the centre when you are visiting as she is monitoring all of the miles of beach and working so message first to check when she is in the centre - if not there will be a volunteer giving out bags to collect rubbish !! Frankly I was expecting trouble when I noticed the center was expanded on both sides.
I think council autority is right. I notice as well when i watched last week's video. Seher is without realising passed the border. As we know no one is perfect. Seher doing great job fo nature.

Hi Guys, it was very nice to see southern Turkey's Mediterranean coast again. I am sorry about what happened at the Turtle Centre but I am not very surprised to tell you the truth. After 20-something years of current government local authorities looking at any piece of land as a cash source (hence all the hotels). I am also surprised to see Seher covering her hair, from the beach lady to this again the same environmental pressure I guess. BTW I want to add to what you mentioned; although grill and kebap are pretty popular it is not the full representation of the Turkish Cuisine. There are many other culinary delicacies and dishes (not everything bbq). Istanbul is a good place to look for these. As you were saying the "top" grill place people there were actually from Adana, south mid-east of Turkey where the grill is most popular. The other thing that kind of made me think, was that you mentioned your nephew was out of Europe for the first time, I always thought Turkey was in Europe, I mean besides technically having a geographical part in Europe other than being in all European institutions (also considering Ottoman Empire was on big chunk of Europe for 600 years). On the other hand, I am aware that there is a tendency to keep Turkey out of Europe. :)
