    😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

You’re my new fave channel, truly. Watching your vids, I’m rediscovering my love for Japan again. I’ve been here for 15 years now and I am reminded how pristine this country is, how things aren’t crumbling, people are polite, and nature is abundant. Really thankful that you add more clips of the food you’re having while in Japan. I’m sure everyone is just curious about your reactions to the food!

I agree, been here 7 years and watching them discover all the "little" things that make Japan magical makes me so proud, honored and happy to live here. Sure being asked to send a fax for something can test your patience, but shogani ne.

It was frightening to see them driving without knowing that the diamond symbol was a warning for a pedestrian crossing.😨 The narrow road with the sidewalk painted green that you passed in the previous video is a school zone for children between the ages of 3 and 12, where the maximum speed is limited to 30 km/h. If the road is painted even slightly green, be aware of the presence of children and keep speed to 20 km/h.🤞✨

It's beautiful. Very very clean which is refreshing to see. No country has this level of cleanliness and pride in keeping it so. V healthy dishes too. No wonder you love it.
The van travel ppl were behind lucky to have found such a selflessly helpful chap to help them or they'd still be there!!!! :-)

Were you ok in the underground onsen? The 2-way split to the onsen actually had 女湯 (female bath) on the left side and 男湯 (male bath) on the right side.
They are usually color-coded (male blue and female red) in most onsen places, but maybe it's better to learn the shapes of these letters to not get into trouble in your future experience:)

Last April, I was driving in the town of Kanoya on the island of Kyshu when I stopped at a light. The white stop line was a good 30 meters back from the light - perhaps the most extreme I had ever seen. Then, suddenly a full size city bus emerged from the smallish cross street and swung far out to make the tight corner using up all of those 30 meters to complete the turn. Yes, they are set way back for a good reason!

Very depressing, but this really made me feel so much better. We're actually trying to plan a trip to Colorado to beat this horrible heat we are having in Texas. This gave me the boost I needed to be open to adventure. The million dollar hwy scared me to death! Japan is on my bucket list of places I want to visit with Alaska probably more feasible. Maybe I'll win the lottery, har har.

The fridge can be replaced to run only on 12v avoiding the use of gas, the electrical sistem may needs a b2b charger more for winter to keep the house batteries full.
Im my van i have a 12v compressor fridge made by Inlander uk (narrow boat fridge only thing is doesn't have a travelling door locking sistem but that can be easly worked around) it runs from 2 130ah lead acid batterys 24/7 , the 300w solar panel with 40A solar controler can run it without taking power from batterys on a sunny day at 9 AM.

    Hello Ambassadors
How nice are the people of Japan! I love that hospitality.
Earthquakes are normal since the island itself is created by subduction of oceanic crust under another one. The subduction zones are famous for producing earthquakes due to constant movement there. As you know, if they tell you " Tsunami" is coming then you must immediately move in the higher elevations. Recall 2011 Tsunami ?
I loved the video. Food was....Being Turkish...ihhhh. I would have a little hard time to get used to the dishes there. No offense to my JAPANESE BROTHERS! I am sure there many dishes that I would love.

Oh tell him good luck on your TH-cam adventure !! It is a strange journey - keep working hard and making the videos to get seen - and now over 600+ videos later ... Don't give up !! And maybe we will meet him on the road one day 👍🌺

I think this vlog was refreshing and brilliant with great company.
Is it possible to have a meet-up with Sharla and Chris while you're there?
I wish you both nothing but the best!

there are temple passports books that use to be available so you can go to different temples and get them stamped so you can see how many you visit. happy traveling. in california we use to be told during earthquakes don't park too close to buildings in case things fall, and don't park to close to waters edge on a cliff in case it falls. also if you are by the waters edge and it suddenly disappears quickly and sirens go off run for high ground its a tsunami.

The getting-the-stuff looks SO hard! I guess logistics companies always do that for their customers - having private individuals picking up the stuff. My heart was in my mouth when the fork lift approached the smaller-by-the-minute van! Looks like a great first few days in Japan and a wow of an onsen experience - but you know - it ain't onsen if you wear bathers! Gotta strip!!!!
