Me being under the age of 7 playing the game I couldn't get passed the first levels so I didn't get many npc reactions other than playing as Abe. I say under the age of 7 because beyond that point my mom's disc was scratched all to hell and would no longer work in my ps2 😂

Such a nostalgia rush :) After playing Abe's Oddysee then being given Abe's Exoddus, the extended GameSpeak for Abe and being able to control not just Sligs but Glukkons, Scrabs and Paramites was like a revolution in the series. I'd love to play it again.
I played with this for hours. lol I did it more than playing the damn game as a kid. Oddworld was HARD. I’d make up little songs out of them. Slig’s my fav. lol
Listening back to the noises in this game and I’m convinced the sound designers were like ‘find the weirdest bird calls you can’ the BS noise the Slig makes is a flamingo 😂 the loon gets used a lot too

Because scrabs are more territorial and solitary, like tigers,. I think that they haven't developed nearly so sophisticated a system of communication. Paramites are more like rats or dolphins, i guess (in that way obviously not in shape or character). Side note--I love how iconic and alien and distinct the denizens of oddworld are.
It was a fun way to learn how to do all the speaks. I can't say this is my very first PS1 game since that was spyro. But this and oddysee were one of the first
anyone find t 'odd' that they changed his voice for the second game, but left the high pitched "wait" in the game, so his voice goes back to his old voice when you say wait.

If they make another 3D Oddworld game that features Paramites, Scrabs, etc. they should have more interactions like in this game. Y'know not just a hiss sound and a deep roar/cackling sound from the Scrab. They should make puzzles that force you to use Paramites/Scrabs to use gamespeak to talk to others. It would be really cool to see how a pack of Scrabs communicates with eachother.
this gamespeak really entertained me when i was little but the paramite was the one that freaked me out a little i thought it was a spider or hand then!
In Oddysee Possessed Sligs could communicate properly with normal ones & Abe but in Exoddus whether your Abe or in Possession of one of their Buddies they only reply with "What?"
each slig is coded individually and are programmed to respond differently. Some just shoot you on sight in Slig form. You could also shoot them over and over until they explode in Oddysee
I wonder, how many people did notice that in Exoddus Abe's voice changed? In the original he was more childish, hissing and charmed at the same time. In Exodus this is already something ringing and vile, with a laid nose. Moreover, they still left some sounds from the original, for example, "Wait."

I adore this game (as well as 'Abe's Odyssey'; 'Munch's Odyssey' was disappointing for it was too unlike the original side-scrolling Oddworld games) and it's great how so many people remember it! I honestly believe it was one of the greatest games ever made for PlayStation. The graphics were excellent (not just for 1997/98, but probably even for today), the story was engaging and the characters were deep and likable. Just wicked!
@Owneador1337 You'll have to wait and see! I have not played 'Munch' and I don't really want to. The simplicity of the first two, 2D Oddworld games meant they haven't aged; they're part of an era. Whereas as the third-person 3D of 'Munch' looks quite horribly outdated. (Despite 2001 - its release date - being not especially long ago.)
@@lhommemystere3938 the slig's mask in the original game had a display visor which was like Cyclops mask in X-Men. The sequels and reboot gave all the sligs a pilot visor. The pilot visor is two separate eyes. The pilot visor was only suppose to be used for the flying sligs, but became the helmet for all of the sligs in the sequels. In New 'N'Tasty only a few sligs in the cutscenes have the original 'Cyclops' visor.

In the french localisation of Exoddus, Abe has a normal voice (just a little pitch), as every mudokons, dunno if I would prefer that he had the weird mudokon voice.
This is Exoddus, not Oddysee. I also see comments saying that his voice changed since Oddysee, so I would keep looking, or grab yourself an emulator and hear for yourself.

@CruioiusUserX90: It will basically allow you and help you during gameplay in order to command certain creatures during possession [ Scrabs, Sligs, Glukkons, and Paramites ] to help with puzzles, and allow you to control you mudokon brothers too, sometimes you have to tell them to wait, particularly the blind ones in case they get killed or something. I always used to write it down when playing it, so that I didn't mess up.

Abe sounds very distroted and out of it's normal pitch on an XP machine - better to play this on Windows 10 for the best audio quality.

the real sligs only got the 1 line red mask and not 2 eyes......
that was the rupture farms exclusive, thats how they built their equipment over there.
