There have been a lot of changes. But I remember when assistants only had to go to a 2 week of 1 month course. Then I saw some career colleges offer 1 year certification programs and now they even have 2 year Associate Degree programs. Although, around my area, none of those school credits are accepted by any University or Community college. They have the 2 year degrees but also have a 4 year Bachelors program that Universities accept, which can be transitioned into becoming a Dentist if one so chose. The Assistant on the other hand would need to start almost all the way over if wanting to switch to a Dentist or Hygienist.
Hi. If a hygienist wanted to become a dentist they would have to start dental school from the beginning. It's like going from CDA to RDH, there is no transition
@@stinemn192 It really depends on your school. Make sure that whatever Dental School you choose will honor the credits you got from the former. State Schools are typically safe. Be careful, because some of the private school will tell you they are accredited when no one else accepts their credits.

I was interested in dental assisting but I’m not sure how to go about looking for schools. I’m in the Waukegan area on Illinois, any recommendations. Does the certification have to be accredited by anyone such as American dental association?
My dental assisting school knowledge is not super current - but what I do know is it depends on your office/doctor/boss. Many offices do not require that you attended an accredited dental assisting program. As long as you received the certificate (CDA) you should be eligible to work. Some offices don't require CDA at all - they will teach you on the job. Depends on the office you want to work! Hope this helps :)

What is a dental technician? And what is the difference between a dental technician and a dental assistant and/or dental hygienist?
The only dental technician I'm aware of is a lab technician - someone who would work in a dental lab. Hope this helps!
I love her! I wanna be like her!
You should make more videos about your cockatiel I’m about to get two of them
Yay!! Thank you! I wish you the best! I love cockatiels SO very much.
Can a dental hygienist work with an orthodontist? Or are they called something different
She remains me of that girl who did the video of Dear Fat people
I’m taking my RDA in May and then my CDA in June!! Eventually I want to be a hygienist though!! I feel like that’s how most of the girls I know are too 😂
That's so awesome! Congrats & sending best wishes to you!!!!
Is dental hygiene less stressful than dental assisting?
that's a great question! truly, everyone is different! it just depends on so many variables!!!!!
Iam studying for dental assistant see many people with rotten teeth and I have to learn to how to clean my mother's teeth she doesn't want to mouth rinse don't like the design of rinse maybe a (U) design squirts up and down or side or new design. Straight splash hard back throat.😂
Dental assistant doesn’t get paid that much
Salina Reeves in texas they get paid a lot. Maybe not as much as a hygienist but they get paid good money.
How much they get paid an hour ?
To be honest I want to get my teeth in perfect condition for both the Dental assistant and the hygienist lol
lol ;)
I was interested in dental assisting but I’m not sure how to go about looking for schools. I’m in the Waukegan area on Illinois, any recommendations. Does the certification have to be accredited by anyone such as American dental association?
My dental assisting school knowledge is not super current - but what I do know is it depends on your office/doctor/boss. Many offices do not require that you attended an accredited dental assisting program. As long as you received the certificate (CDA) you should be eligible to work. Some offices don't require CDA at all - they will teach you on the job. Depends on the office you want to work! Hope this helps :)
become a hygienist don't be an assistant.....go for bigger! I'm an assistant CDA and planning to go to dental hygiene school
Teeth Talk Girl Thank you so much, I’m working on applications now! I’m making sure that the job doesn’t require the certification as well, so fingers crossed!
Koricometh Koricometh I was looking at dental hygiene school and it is something I’m very interested in pursuing. Hopefully after finding a job as an assistant I’ll be able to do the schooling for dental hygiene! Thank you for the advice and best wishes on your schooling! (:
How old are u?
You r so funny😂🤣❤
Thank you for watchinggggggggg!
Damn 3-6 years of school/training!?!?!?
And what's the pay like for this job?
For a dental hygienist yes. It could even be longer is you get your masters or doctorate in dental hygiene.
✌💖😆
Right back at ya xoxo
