Oh we have to be very careful of envy. Especially with the ones we're closest to. I was the same with my sister who's a lot more confident than I am. But when I stopped comparing myself to her. And looked at both our achievements. It meant I could feel happy for all that she's done without envy getting in the way.
Hi Bjorn, I really enjoy watching your videos and absorbing your messages. I can almost smell the coffee brewing and feel the warmth of the crackling fire. 10 minutes or so of living vicariously in the woodlands of Norway listening to your measured and accented speech, as you ponder upon different subjects, is a good way to put a little more intentioned thought into each day. Much appreciated!
You've hit the nail right on the head, sence I've been watching your videos I have noticed that I have changed for the better. Thank you for inspiring me.
You make a great point on envy vs. inspiration. Envy is wanting others taken down, inspiration is wanting to raise yourself up. Are there any old Norse stories that might embody that idea? I certainly see it in the Christian parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard; where a man agrees to work a full day for a day’s wages, and another is hired for only half the day and still receives the full wage, and another is hired for only an hour but receives the full wage. The first laborer has no reason to be upset; he entered a deal, and was given what he was promised, the others’ success doesn’t harm him. I would think there are parallels in the Norse tradition as well?
I agree with this. I have been working on recognizing exactly when it happens in my life. Either inspired or jealous, learning that when I recognize it more often I change my actions and take heed to develop more skills and more knowledge.
Awesome topic! I personally believe that "positive envy". As where you're happy for someone and you feel inspired to achieve the same goal or success as them. Can be a good thing.
That's a great message for men and people in general Bjørn. I truly think it's very important not to give into envy. Thank you for another fantastic video!
You are so right. I have been often inspired by others, but have never been what one might call envious or jealous. Also, I feel inspiration can be shared with others.
This is really a great insight. Seems to be simplistic at first but it has great depth. I have just realized how much the feeling of envy distorts my actions and attitude towards the world.
Truer words were never spoken. If you allow it, envy is a destroyer, not a builder. Your channel is greatly appreciated by me. I look forward to each new video.
Agreed 100%. Envy is debilitating and disabling. When you are envious you focus outside, on the things you cannot control or influence, and you lose focus on the things you can control, such as your own self-improvement.
I've always believed that if someone else made it very far in life, so could I, if I was REALLY willing to work hard for it, I could make it there too. I would look up and feel inspired by those people who suddenly changed their lives into better, I would feel good for them. We can all learn from people who have made it there themselves, great mentors to look up to, work on ourselves and take responsibility for how we spend our time day after day. Rather than just trying to bring those who work very hard down so we get to feel better about our sad lives. I never understood this kind of people. We all have the same time here, why would someone try to pull me down when they could invest all that time and energy into themselves and their growth... Love your channel, greetings from Romania
Bjorn, this video came at a very good time. We just lost our longtime family dog last night, and it is easy to get lost in the grieving process. This gave me a very good and positive distraction. I have chosen to share this video with family members because I think it is quite important.
One thing I like about Bjorn's videos (besides the obvious tranquility) is that he always let's a smile after a "teaching". He relieves the tension from "giving advice". Smiling and ending on a positive note seems like a great choice. Keep on going Bjorn. You inspired me to make videos in the Greek nature, following your template of tranquillity and peaceful tone.

I have the same reaction. Bjorn is absolutely a thinker and gentle soul. Would love to have some chocolate coffee around a campfire with him. Hope he gets his books published in English very soon.
I could not agree more. You are absolutely right. Men must be strong and draw inspiration from our surroundings. We must not give in to the baser instincts but rise above them and succeed by our own merit. We must not be afraid to admit we're wrong and we must not be afraid to ask for help and advice. No man is an island unto himself. Thank you for your insight, Mr. Hansen.
I definitley needed to hear this today. I would love to hear your take on relationships nowadays and how to deal with them in such a complicated time for dating
In the US Declaration of Independence it says “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal” what that means to me is this-when you are born no matter how rich or poor you are or what race you are, you are born naked and helpless, it is up to you to make the rest of your life how you want it to be. If you want to envious or jealous, if you want the the government to take care of you that’s what your life will be, but if focus on yourself to be successful and to educate yourself others will be envious or jealous of you Skal Bjorn 🍻
Thank you once again for your inspirational words. I really enjoy these sessions. I'm glad you mentioned JP, because I've been trying to take up some of his advice about not looking up to others too much and more so compare yourself today with who you were yesterday and be proud of the improvements (how small they might be, doesn't matter) and gain strength by doing so. Peace from the Netherlands
I very much agree. The influence of envy and resentment in public life, and the belittling of masculine virtues, has really become a sickness. You see through this after a while, and you must go your own way. I really enjoy your videos, thank you
Envy is an emotion. Emotions are born full grown and pregnant, ready to give birth to resentment, anger and hatred. Principles are the cure. Self-reliance, patients, forgiveness, hard work, honesty, truth seeking are principles. Principles must be practiced to be possessed. Thank you Bjorn. Time spent with you is time well spent.

@@mercilessmountains4682 I''m not sure if just sitting in the cold and breathing will do me any good, it won't cure me of who I am, nor will it magically make me a beter person, I have a hard time wanting to be someone, I dislike being itself, I could be more, I try to do more but the things I actualy wanted are not clear to me, everything I can do and know is something I don't care about, others care, it makes me bitter that we are so limited in what we can do, that we have to endure this life for so long.
there are things I want and work towards but it's such a long way with so many people and events that honestly bore me to death, boredom is my worst enemy, second is misanthropy.
Bjørn, thanks for this video. You spoke out of my heart.
I discussed the same topic over and over again with my friend and partner in business.
Envy people don‘t make good employee’s too. Which leads them no to get what they are envious over.
I don‘t think that envy only is a thread to masculinity, but also to femininity. Can you imagine a Mother full of envy? I‘d rather not.
Thanks again Bjorn. I've definitely felt envy. Self improvement is the only way forward.
I came across your channel a while back and immediately knew this is what we, the world, needed. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Another great video Bjorn. Thanks! Envy is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to get sick ....
Good talk & I agree. Thx I am having a good life here & wish the same for everyone watching.
I HAVE JUST STARTED LEARNING & LISTENING TO YOU ...BEING GREEDY BEING SELFISH THINKING ABOUT HOW AN INDIVIDUAL ARE BETTER THEN OTHERS WILL NOT BE GOOD FOR LIFE.....SAME AS ENVY NOT HAPPY....BEING HUMBLE & AND WILLING TO LEARN AND LISTEN AND KEEP TRYING.....I LISTEN WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY AND VERY INTERESTING. HAVE A BLESSED DAY TO YOU......Dean 👍👍
Please never stop making these talks/videos people need to hear these things
I'm brazilian and I love to watch your channel. Please, keep it up!
Thank you again for another good conversation. The woods and snow behind you are stunning!
I think this is probably true of women, too. I used to envy my sister's nose! How silly of me. Now I'm glad I have my own Neanderthal nose. Lol!
I am from Lebanon. The whole country functions on Envy generated from the systematic self-deprivation of the human soul. Love you man.
You have changed my whole perspective on masculinity and envy
That's a great message for men and people in general Bjørn. I truly think it's very important not to give into envy. Thank you for another fantastic video!
You are so right. I have been often inspired by others, but have never been what one might call envious or jealous. Also, I feel inspiration can be shared with others.
This is really a great insight. Seems to be simplistic at first but it has great depth. I have just realized how much the feeling of envy distorts my actions and attitude towards the world.
Seriously, I was just thinking about this very subject while at work today.
Truer words were never spoken. If you allow it, envy is a destroyer, not a builder. Your channel is greatly appreciated by me. I look forward to each new video.
Always good to share fireside chat, good wisdom
Agreed 100%. Envy is debilitating and disabling. When you are envious you focus outside, on the things you cannot control or influence, and you lose focus on the things you can control, such as your own self-improvement.
Anyone else envious of his wisdom?
I love how you try not to get overly political, but you are totally correct. We should build, not take. Be inspired, not resentful.
EXCELLENT POINT! AMEN 100X. In my own mythic/moral world, it is envy, not pride, that is the matrix of human evil.
Great topic Bjorn! Yes, there is a big difference between envy and aspirations. This is something that I must think about a LOT!
You finally had some snow, lovely place 😍♥️
What an inspiration, and chocolate coffee. Thank you.
You speak true words. More people need to take and practice your advice.
Well said, only a few times in my life I felt envious and every time I fought that emotion and felt guilty for feeling that.
Excellent message Bjorn. Thank you!
Your views are interesting, I appreciate your time
Nathan Vinson because he’s talking about how we’ve lived for thousands of years. 😎
Completely agree. All I need to be, is better than myself yesterday
Your videos are possibly the most relaxing things I’ve ever seen
Envy is destroying South Africa. The majority was raised to hate and envy and destoy, not to work toward uplifting themselves. I love your message.
Every time you go outdoors and grab a cup of coffee and share your thoughts with us, I really feel like we are chatting face to face, having cool conversations and sharing experiencies... It's absolutely amazing. Thank you for your dedication and awesomeness. Greetings from Costa Rica.
I have the same reaction. Bjorn is absolutely a thinker and gentle soul. Would love to have some chocolate coffee around a campfire with him. Hope he gets his books published in English very soon.
Bjorn, I had a rough week up until I watched this video. Thanks.
You teach me things my dad was never around to teach. Thank you!
I really enjoy your videos, thank you
God damn is that scenery beautiful! The snow on the trees. The coffee. perfection!
I'm impressed by the excellent comments from this video discussion. Great topic Bjorn.
Keep up the good work Bjorn! Good stuff
Keep it up man. Brings me happiness knowing there are others out there with similar moral guidelines.
Dang... I always love listening to you. I wish there were more men like you in the world, and especially here in America
Sage wisdom, your words are cathartic to my soul.
As always a lovely show and content, all the very best on your walks, please continue to chat with us while doing them.
Mike in the UK
Greetings from Michigan . Keep doing what you do my friend.
What an easy and enjoyable person to listen to. Thanks for making videos. Good man.
That was a great message to start my day with. I have always used envy as a motivation to do better, work harder to reach my own personal goals.
I didn't make the connections about the destructive effects of envy that you did. Gives me some new insight and new avenues of thought. Thanks.
Agreed! So much so that I’m going to start showing your videos to my three sons. Living in Seattle, we need all the *positive* masculinity we can get.
I agree with you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’m enjoying your channel ✌🏼
I use your channel as a teaching tool for my son. I appreciate your words and wisdom. They make me a better person and father and i hope it does the same for my son.
I agree totally because a real man has self-confidence and doesn't need anything he doesn't deserve, he even doesn't want it. He is content...
