I think it was quite clear how greedy and self obsessed ronaldo is when he started against georgia when portugal had already qualified for r16 and it was the perfect game to try the bench especially ramos. He thought he would bang some easy goals against poor georgia but then he was so bad that he had to be subbed after which he started throwing tantrums.
Ronaldo was the biggest liability in the field. He was non existent. Had Ramos or Jota played, Portugal may have advanced.

Many people won’t like to hear this but the only impressive thing about Cristiano Ronaldo’s International career is the remarkable longevity. His goals per game record doesn’t compare to the greats. His performances in major tournaments average at best. Big k/o games, awful.

Well, Ronaldo wasn't Portugal's main talisman until about 2009 or so. That's 5-6 years where he was playing out wide to accommodate people like Pauleta, Rui Costa, Deco, and Figo. When that Golden Generation retired, Portugal didn't have many attacking options, so, naturally, Ronaldo became the target man. I will maintain the stance that Ronaldo should have retired from the national team in 2016. End it on a high, instead of seeing yourself become the villain. He will always be adored for putting Portugal on the map, but as of right now; there's a sour taste in our mouth. We're a small country after all. Not a powerhouse nation like Brazil, Spain, Germany, France or Argentina.

But his fame and star power blinds his fans. He’s never had a great tournament for his country.

I believe ronaldo wants to probably play in the world cup because of how the last one ended for him. From what i saw today i would still put him in the squad but for more of a supporting role. Coming on in the 60th/70th minute. I believe he will actually be more useful to the team in that respect. Today all i saw was him waiting for crosses in the box which tbf the delivery wasn't that great. In the past he could rely on himself to do things but now he is really relying a lot more on his teammates for service and if the deliveries aren't good then you don't see him doing anything the whole game. His pace seems to be ok but he doesn't seem to be able to beat defenders 1v1 anymore but tbf french defenders are quick as well. If portugal want to have a successful world cup then he needs to take a little bit of a back seat cause it will be a waste of world cup if they do this all over again. On the other hand pepe was amazing. He is the definition right now of age is just a number. Truly amazing performance.

I’ve never liked Ronaldo as a team player. When he was young, this was not so much of a problem since his speed, power and overall attacking prowess compensated for his lack of teamwork. He was just a lethal apex predator in his prime. But once he started to slow down, he either needed to become more of a team player, passing up opportunities to other team mates, or step back (either dropping from the team or being used as an impact sub). I’d go so far as to say this goes back as far as eight years. Portugal won the euros when Ronaldo got injured. Sure, he has scored many goals over the years, but I’d expect that from a good striker given just how many chances his team offers him in front of goal.

In Saudi and MLS yes they can play full 120mins. In WC, Euros or Copa America it’s just too much I think at this stage of their career. The level of football is massively different.
