    I composed this melody while worshiping God near sunrise at a lake on a backpacking trip in Mammoth, California on 07/09/2023. I wanted to compose a canon that children could easily sing to God, creating harmony and counterpoint by just learning the melody and singing it at different times.
    I began the melody with a simple drone to allow the listener to enjoy the melody before the complexities of counterpoint in the canon section. The music spins out of the canon into a descending fifth sequence with a 5:3 polyrhythm. I ended with a homophonic texture (using primarily 1:1 counterpoint) to focus on the melody with added harmonic richness through double stops.
    I enjoy combining what I like best about music from various time periods: Gregorian chant-inspired melodies, Renaissance counterpoint, modal & tonal harmony, impressionistic and jazz-inspired color harmonies, and more contemporary cross-rhythms and meters. My aesthetic is post-modern, while my values are simply to walk with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
    You are welcome to perform this piece with or without the celesta part. Freely substitute the celesta with bells, glockenspiel, vibraphone, or piano.
    I took the photo of this rose while walking through Gardens of the World in Thousand Oaks, California with my wife on 9/30/2023.
    “The Lord bless you and keep you;
    The Lord make His face shine upon you,
    And be gracious to you;
    The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
    And give you peace.”
    Amen.
    (Numbers 6:24-26, NKJV)
    God bless you and yours,
