    you should learn how to work on your car man!! 3000.00 Dollars for a radiator fan replacement?!! If you gave me 500.00 I would replace it parts included!!! Jesus you got ripped!!! I cant imagine what they would charge you to replace that oil filter housing gasket... please let us know what they quoted you! rip offs if you guys own a BMW that's not under warranty you need to be able to work on your own car or its not worth owning. just my 2 cents.

      it wasn't just the fan, if you look on my channel i have a video replacing the fan just fine, it was the relaying being fried and the previous owner of my car screwing with the DME that brought that bill to 3,000 to fix

    fix that leak asap... i let my oil filter housing leak for a few thousand miles and it ruined the bearing in my tensioner and destroyed the serpentine belt.

    If you have the guts to own an exceptional car, I'm referring to BMW you'll learn that fixing/working on these beasts is not that complicated at all, in fact, it may be somewhat easier to work on it than your typical Japanese car. why you ask, first of all, BMW it's rear-drive so the engine bay holds only the engine and its components: transmission under the cab, the differential is located in the rear, my point: plenty of room to work around the engine. The M edition may be a different situation. I do own 3 BMW's the one with the most room in the engine bay it's the Z4 I can go to Mexico and smuggle at least 2 small people in the engine bay. They may turn into Mexican rotisserie in the process but that's a different story.

    People who don't know how to work on cars should not buy/own or even drive any used German cars, especially a BMW, unless they're rich. It seems like most Americans feel like maintaining a vehicle is a burden and keeping up with the maintenance is a pain in the ass. I'm an American and I love working on and maintaining my finely-tuned German automobile. Also don't drive it everywhere like some kind of NASCAR asshole. If you abuse any car it's gonna give you problems.

    Moral of the story is don’t buy a car you afford the maintenance on. You wouldn’t buy a house you can’t afford. This isn’t to shit on people. It’s basic common sense,

      Actually the _35i models are known for being unreliable. Also M models. Notice how on videos people with those models complain. Esp the people who buy them cheap and used. What poor people go through to look rich smh.

    I’ve owned a 2008 3 series and now own M235i. The 2008 3 series I bought the extended warranty from BMW. I used it a year after I bought for a head gasket leak the was estimated at 2200.00!!!
    All was covered under the warranty. So the warranty was a good value.
    For the M 235i I insured myself. I put a 100 bucks a month into a high interest savings account to use in case of a repair. This is a good for a person who can save and does not use the BMW as a daily grinder.
    Well that’s both sides of coin. Good luck. Remember it better to look good that to feel good.

    Yeah, no shit. My low mileage 06 e53 3.0L X5 (76k) recently had a CCV fail and hydro locked the engine and blew the head gasket and cracked the block. Found. Replacement engine with 55k on it for $1600 plus $3000 for install then while at my mechanics place, someone backed into it and caved in the door...ugh! Luckily found the same color door on eBay delivered for $350. Certainly cheaper than new parts but.....come on!

    Did the fan need replacing after you removed it for the belt kit install? I remember you broke a piece from the fan. I just ordered the belt kit myself and will be replacing the belt/pulley/tensioner this weekend. Also bought a new vrsf charge pipe and 3.5" downpipe. Wish you kept the n55 but I get it.

    I own an E92 330i, pre LCI, N52 normally aspirated, indirect injection, no HPFP.
    Not a single repair , not a single problem in 5 years ownership, now with 140k km on the clock. Maintenance wise, just the usual stuff: oil, filters, fluids. I've just changed the original 11 years old battery because the crank was becoming difficult. The battery cost me 120 Euros including labour and tax (21% tax where I live) and its a good battery, not the cheap entry level one.
    Touch wood though.

      Nexus Achiles Similiar, I have an E63 630i Sport, 74k miles, with the N52..And she just purrs along. Full BMW service history. Just had an oil service and new rear discs and pads replaced at a main dealer for £542. I was dropped into town, picked up and the car was washed. Happy enough with that. I’m too old and lazy to service my own cars now. Been there, done that. My Focus RS sucks more money than the BM

  • @ruk2023--

    Dealerships just piss me off. $200 an hour for labour is insulting to customers and mechanics alike. BTW - why don't you spend 3 or 4 grand on an extended warranty?

  • @stanglmeier
    @stanglmeier 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    OIl Filter Housing should be fixed ASAP. Oil mixing in with coolant is very bad. ($500 at an indy is reasonable)
    Oil Pan Gasket is a bitch but should be $1000. Dropping the subframe, axels, power steering etc.
    I'd buy a torque wrench, low profile jack, ratchet set, a couple of extensions, jack stands, spark plug socket, and some torx sockets. Maybe $300 in a decent set of tools. One spark plug/coil pack replacement and you will still have saved money.
    Just DIY as much as you can to offset the big repairs.

    • @itsmatt3053
      @itsmatt3053  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      gaskets have been fixed, the problems with this car just keep coming though

    • @stanglmeier
      @stanglmeier 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know how you feel man. Whats wrong with her now?
      The gaskets are the biggest pain the ass. After all the gaskets are done, the car should be relatively good. Buy the tools I mentioned and you should be good to DIY most stuff.

    • @itsmatt3053
      @itsmatt3053  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      well i am having a bit of electric issues, ketless entry stopped working on the drivers side, and my windows dont want to go up anymore, my brakes have hot spots on the rotors , there is some sort of major scraping sound coming from the transmission at low speeds that no one can seem to figure out what it could be, i have a bad seal somewhere on the car that is now letting water in the car

    • @stanglmeier
      @stanglmeier 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keyless entry could be the key battery, it doesn't recharge when in the ignition slot. Windows could be the regulators, pretty easy to DIY. If the rotors and pads have not been replaced for 25k+ miles you might just have to bite that one. Scraping of transmission? Is it possible its a u-joint on the driveshaft or something? If it is the transmission, do a fluid flush. Wheres the seal coming from? It sounds like its a clip that popped off because you hit something, thats the only logical thing.
      Every used car is going to have some sort of issues, it never stops. Just fix the big ones like the transmission and brakes first.

    Dude, i feel ur pain, my 135i M sport with the PPK is the same sort of thing down under (Australia) - stock charge pipe blew. BMW said its around 1200 aud to fix, did it myself for 200 bucks or so as I got one from BMS - VERY basic tools only, and please if you have not done it yet, do it. Mine blew while only on the BMW ppk tune, so 320 to 330 HP only. Oil filter housing gasket also easy DIY but i didn't get that done as I had an issue with my valvtronic system which required some big time and $$ so my local euro mechanic did that one cheap and fast coz he's got the tools to do it. I was going to though but it seemed an easier. Self installed oil catch can and intake. The fan thing is crazy, I believe in the US there are regulations that allow indi mechanics to have, for a small monthly fee, access to all coding, so that in theory should just run you max 500 bucks. But hey, its a dream to drive, i went drifting in mine in the rain tonight, on a closed race track obviously, not on the road. and boy was it a joy. downshift into corners, bank goes the exhaust burbles then on the gas, that sweeet BMS intake and CPe charge pipe sound so good on boost. Out of the corner the tail gets loose, opposite lock then ur all good to floor it to the next corner. I highly recommend get some basic but quality tools, watch some pro's on youtube doing DIY and just fix all this shit urself, save heaps of bucks.

    • @itsmatt3053
      @itsmatt3053  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i swapped out a few things on it, but unfortunatly i have moved on from my 135is, it was just one things after another, i actually got a check engine light while trading it in. I'm happy to be rid of it and saving money now.
