I thought the bad recasting you were going to cite in the Terminator franchise was Clark as Sarah Conner. She was awful, but the entire movie I saw with her was dreadful anyway. The TV show, "Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles", on the other hand, recast Lena Heady as Sarah Conner and she was brilliant, maybe even as good as Linda Hamilton. (For her age at the time of the series. I don't think any actor in the world could have captured the growth of the naive waitress into the world saving warrior like Linda Hamilton did. One of the best performances in cinema history, imo.) The entire cast of the TV show was awesome, and I was deeply disappointed when it went away. It was much better than any of the movies, except the first two.
Clooney > Kilmer. Whereas Kilmer dropped the ball as both #Batman and Bruce Wayne, Clooney only dropped the ball as Batman. He was a terrific Bruce. The scenes between Clooney's Bruce and Michael Gough's Alfred are the best part of Batman & Robin.
It was great to see Gough return, he plays the role so well. But I felt he was played a bit squishy, cheesy(er). Maybe it was the storyline with the illness and all, hell the whole entire script and production were cheesy. A colossal waste of dollars for a movies greatest fx was filming under a black light..
Well technically no one else was RECAST in Batman and Robin compared to Batman Forever. I guess you could say everyone but Alfred and Gordon were recast from Batman Returns (though sans Batman and going by the 89 movie Harvey Dent no one else really even returned from the Burton movies anyway) but this is specifically talking about recasts not just terrible casts doing terrible performances.
Clooney in the Flash was not bad as Bruce Wayne which is sad because he played the role so robotic in Batman and Robin. And tbh who really can blame him since the whole movie was a major flop and a silly iteration in the DC universe
Evelyn's recasting in the Mummy series really is a landmark failure. Especially when people talk about great Female heroes in film with imo Rachel Weisz Evelyn standing up there with Ripley and Sarah Conner. I think another trope that I think this current generation is tired of is seeing Couples formed in the original film are broken up in the sequel and Rick and Evelyn's relationship actually growing stronger in the Mummy Returns deserved more credit.
@@msnewseniorwell, his Lestat was a total downgrade, though I put more blame on the writers than the actor. His problem was taking over from Tom Cruise
Recasting can be a hit or miss depending on how the new actor pull off the character the old one used to play as, and how good the script would be when written and executed.
Lazenby didn't do another Bond film, not because of poor reception, but because his agent at the time convinced him Bond was a dying franchise and He would be better off doing other things.
Star Trek III: Robin Curtis replacing Kirstie Ally as Lt. Savvik. They also changed her character to make her 100% Vulcan, while the Star Trek II novelization said she was half-Romulan, hence her more emotional moments. (She also briefly appears in Star Trek IV, and again the novelization mentions she is pregnant with Spock's kid... but that's never brought up again.)
Admittedly, I have not seen The Flash (2023), but then again, hardly anyone has. Anywho, where Barry said, "You're not Batman," to George Clooney is very worthy of Deadpool and Wolverine (2024).

The only woman Bond marries and she dies right in front of him, referenced in most of the other movies. Bonus: The main theme has been on my gym playlist for decads.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. The original cast was getting too old, but the new casting left a lot to be desired. In particular, the casting of Rodrick was questionable, as he didn't look like the rest of the family, as though he were adopted.
Some of the cast from X-Men:Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, and Nightclawer) Honestly, I prefer the cast from the first three X-Men live action movies over some of the cast of those two films. Even X-Men Origins:Wolverine had a good cast as well.
1000% agree for the remake I've been hearing about. The second Crow movie was a different character. You could go for Mia Kirchner as Sara, but Rochelle Davis turned away from acting because of what happened to Brandon Lee.
Jai Courtney is underrated and was a good choice for Reese I know that's a hot take but not everyone has to agree on castings or even if movies are good.
Her Majesty's Secret Service is actually one of the best bond films of that era. Some of the Connery films are really dated but HMSS is actually still watchable.
Just like Ryan Reynolds has ripped on his playing of Green Lantern George Clooney has spent years apologizing for playing Batman. I admit I was amused as Clooney playing Batman in the Flash movie.
If Batman existed in real life, the people who I would most suspect to be behind the mask would be Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, or George Clooney. Batman & Robin gets a lot of hate, it was just trying to shift back to what it was in the 60's being more fun and kid oriented. But at that point in time, everyone was still enjoying the tone Batman 1989 had set, and Batman & Robin went too far on the silly side instead of trying to find balance of entertaining for adults while still being kid friendly, like how Batman the animated series had done. People always want things to be like when they grew up, so big franchises that span over decades will also have to deal with people being upset regardless of what direction they go. Those who grew up with the campy Godzilla of 60's and 70's who would wrestle its opponents, typically didn't like the more serious laser-beam battles of the 90's Godzilla. People who read the original teenage mutant ninja turtle comics hated the 80's cartoon, but kids who got introduced to the turtles with that cartoon didn't enjoy the 2000's cartoon that tried to be darker again.
The ultimate funny things is that Bob Kane, the co-creator of Batman, said that Val Kilmer was the best Batman out of Kilmer and Michael Keaton. I have no idea what Kane thought of Adam West

Vince Vaughn replacing Anthony Perkins in psycho.
It's a remake not a sequel
Thank God Stuart Townsend was replaced by Viggo Mortensen in the LOTR trilogy.
Ben Affleck as Batman and Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor should've been on here.
No, Batfleck it's ok
The best part of Batman and Robin was Arnold as Mr freeze
How can you forget Barbara Streisand replacing judy garland in a star is born? Especially egregious given the talent involved and the source material. An overlong Babs vanity project
Batman & Robin's problem wasn't who was cast. It was the decision by the producers and director to make it a comedy instead of keeping it mostly serious like the first 2 Dark Night Batman flicks with Michael Keaton as Batman. Clooney wasn't the problem. If the script and direction had been for a serious movie, Clooney would've been an inspired pick.
Yaya was NOT a natural successor to Lawrence Fishborne as Morpheus
Don't forget Another Black Actress from Bad Boys Ride or Die who replaced Teresa Randell.
Lazenby was a great Bond. He wasn't as good as Connery, no other Bond is, but if you're not comparing, it's a great film.
I feel like I’m one of the few people who genuinely enjoyed The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. However, I do agree that it’s not as good as the first live action film.
No Spider-Man! You can’t possibly love every incarnation of Spider-Man.
The worst casting in Batman and Robin was Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. 😂🎉
So many ice puns 🥶
Couldn’t agree with you more on that
@@CandiceVidito yo, chill. You gotta cool off.
Who played him before in a MOVIE not TV show? 🤔
@@thecunninlynguist😂😂
Grease 2, Evan Almighty, The Neverending Story 2 and 3,
never forget Sara Paxton for Marnie in the last halloweentown movie!! WE WRE ROBBED!!!
I would have included The Sting 2. Let's see ,.....Jackie Gleason and Mac Davis replacing,..... Paul Neman and Robert Redford, what could go wrong?? ( that would have made for an "interesting" casting meeting!)
For Flintstones, no offense to the original live action Betty, but the 2nd one was finer.
George clooney: hi watchmojo I'm batman
Leave Stuart Townsend alone, I loved him as Lestat
