    That's the first time I've seen an air dam that actually looked good on a z. I've always liked the looks of them without the front and rear bumpers, but yours looks great. The body work on the back looks great as well. Great job! Kinda making me wish I'd never sold mine...

    Something about like this is the goal for my 280zx, I know it won't be quite the same with the fuel injection but engine wise, cam, exhaust, fuel cell, and interior yours has is about what I wanna do, gonna take me a loooong time to get there, my poor 280zx has alot of cancer in the floors and the rails, and has no fuel system as it is. But badass build man, georgous car, sexy sound, the perfect way to build a Z bro, keep it alive.

    • @dand777
      @dand777 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How did you get the weight down so much? I thought the 280z comes out the factory at 2850-2900lbs? I'm legitimately interested because I might get a 280z instead of a 240z if thats not too much work

    • @280zRacer
      @280zRacer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Michael Moore definitely get the 280 if you are planning on a lot of power and aggressive driving it's much stronger from the factory. Of course you can strengthen a 240 but then u sacrifice weight. The biggest loss of weight was the undercoating underneath and inside the car it's tedious work and time consuming but worth it I think it's about 60-70 pounds just taking all the undercoating off. Then of corse getting rid of the hideous bumpers that was about 40 right there haha it's not too hard to lose 300-400 pounds on these just depends on what you end goal is if it's going to be a dedicated track car u could get it close to 2k lbs. I wanted to keep mine street legal so I'm happy with where the weight is for now. Just watch your ounces and your pounds will take car of themselves. 👍🏼

    It looks like the hood won't clear the air filter. That's a shame because I think that's a great way to upgrade the Z, I didn't know fitment was a problem.

    • @280zRacer
      @280zRacer  ปีที่แล้ว

      the filter does clear the stock hood just barely, but i have a carb spacer on my intake so had to do a cowl hood back then for that, which isnt a big deal because it look awesome. i have since changed to a 4 inch carb had and piping for a cold air intake that goes in front of the core support. check out my instagram for more pics. @sly280z

  • @izzygreenvw
    @izzygreenvw 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    nice car man can you give me some tech tips on how to tune my holley 390 cfm for my 280z . i see you have the same manifold as i do. my motor is stock an i changed the main jet to 48 should i go 46 i live in avondale arizona

    • @280zRacer
      @280zRacer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      izzygreenvw that all depends are you having a stutter under acceleration? Is it running rich at all? I'm over in chandler so our tuning for the air and altitude should be similar but I have nearly twice the carb on mine. I noticed a significant change for the better dropping two steps down on my power valve from 6.5 to 4.5 and I'm currently running 46 main jets. I went from and 48 to 44 and wasn't happy with it so put in 46 and the motor seems to like the change I will be going back up to 48 for ZCON in Austin this June though for the race since they are about 700 feet below us and the humidity is a lot higher.

    • @izzygreenvw
      @izzygreenvw 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i have a wide band on mine and its around 12.7 air to fuel ratio when in idle and i cruise at 15.5 . i have 48 main jets an 3.5 power valve it doesn't stutter but when i come down to a full stop on a low gear ,like decelerate it reads 13.3 and a puff of smoke comes out the tail pipe.

    • @280zRacer
      @280zRacer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      izzygreenvw sounds like it's running rich dropping a step or two on jets should help. Do you rev-match when u shift down or just let the motor slow you down once u shift down? If you rev-match it would explain the puff of smoke but if you're just shifting down and getting the puff of smoke it tells me it's a little on the rich side.

    • @izzygreenvw
      @izzygreenvw 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      280z racer if you don't mine me asking what kind of spark plugs are you using, an can i use them on my stock L28 with a 390cfm carb? do you think that will help my rich fuel issue ,because i dropped to 46 mains jets already

    • @280zRacer
      @280zRacer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      izzygreenvw regular NGK's are honestly the best spark plugs I've used and I don't think it'll do much for your rich fuel mixture. Have you tried messing with the squirters at all I found that my squirters were to big stepped down a few steps and fixed a lot of hesitation I was having. Also timing is a huge factor with initial acceleration stumble if you have a timing light try retarding the timing back a couple degrees and should help a little I know it helped me.

    Rip that intake and carb off and get some triple webers or at least SUs it wont sound like shit anymore and your motor right now cyls 1 and 6 have a question? WTF are you thinking? Hellloooo

    • @280zRacer
      @280zRacer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TRUTH4U2NO hahaha! I have modified the intake to prevent starvation of cylinder 1 and 2 and flooding of 5 and 6 and have data to support that all 6 cylinders are close to equal. I have spent countless hours porting and tuning the fuel and ignition delivery to make it a reliable powerhouse. Plus I wanted to make it my own not like every other run of the mill L series motor. Sure I could’ve done a turbo build, sure I could’ve done ITB’s, or triple carbs but where’s the fun in that? I have been to several Z car meets including ZCON and if you see very built beautiful Z with triple carbs or an ITB setup it looks like every other one out there just different shiny bits. I will assure you there’s nothing like mine out there and I did that for a reason. Also it’s not just show I do race it and beat the hell out of it on the track it now has over 5k miles of track time and nearly that on the street just had the head off last winter and all looks well with no issues at all! Rebello makes a fantastic stroker and if it all goes the way it has been I have many miles left on it. So please get your facts straight before you open your mouth.
