John Zisko Theyre not underrated but are amazing . It is the 3rd best park in the u.s behind magic mountain and cedar point in my opinion as well as many others .
Many of these look great, but I can't believe "The Beast" at King's Island of Ohio is not on this list. After more than 30 years of service, that is still the best 'woodie' I have ever ridden!
It's actually one of only four of its kind, and they're all in this video. Colossos, Balder, T Express, El Toro. They use prefabricated track, where the track is precision-manufactured to exact dimensions in a factory and bolts on to the support structure, this results in a smoother ride than most STEEL COASTERS. Normally, wooden coaster track is built and shaped on the structure by hand, which is much less precise and results in a rougher ride.
I am absolutely sure that there are a few from this list that could have easily been removed in favor of including The Beast. Even at 35, it is still regarded as THE wooden coaster to which all others are compared. It is still the granddaddy of them all.
A poll is an opinion nothing else. Of course everyone likes to see their personal favorites of course and somehow people have become invested on how well it does on these opinion lists. The beast is a great ride.the best night coaster I've been on.I understand your comment of feeling it being over rated - If you didn't ride it in the 80s or 90s you wouldn't know they've slowed the ride down immensely from it's early years with the placement of brakes in various locations. Son of Beast was killer.
Without “the beast” other wooden coasters wouldn’t matter. It had to start somewhere. I personally love it, for the nostalgia more than anything, and the night riding is still great! Probably not the most exciting coaster, but it has yet to get old.
YESSSSSSS was watching this just to hope el toro go in there, and it's #1! This ride is so much scarier and much more fun than Kingda Ka just across the way. The sharp turns, sheer speed, and feel of a steel coaster just makes it an incredible experience
Lol. Who talks crap to people about a rollercoaster? The Beast is still a great wooden rollercoaster. Doesn't matter the rank. They all look pretty cool and I love seeing the different rides.
Just like to point out, the music played for "Colossos" at Heidi park in Germany is actually from "Colossus" at Thorpe Park in the UK rather than the one in germany :)
Finally!!! Someone has done it right and added the "Ravine Flyer 2" from my favorite Water park/ Amusement Park in Erie PA. This ride was one of the best until it was rebuilt into the "Ravine Flyer 3" and at that point it was sent across the Bay front or peninsula Drive and back like it originally did back in the 50's. let me tell you folks.....if your looking for thrills of a by-gone era, go to "Waldameer Park" in Erie PA.
me, the beast is MILES better than * shiver * "el toro"... el toro's just plain uninspired and bland, the beast however has a mission, and that mission being to show you just what happens when a wooden coaster is done right.
+fuzzyferretdude So, long straightaways without any airtime hills or other elements is a wooden coaster done right? I guess pretty much EVERY other roller coaster is doing it wrong, then.
The results of the 2013 poll are in. El Toro @ Six Flags Great Adventure is ranked number 1 again with T Express @ Everland in 2nd, Outlaw Run @ Silver Dollar City in 3rd, Boulder Dash @ Lake Compounce in 4th, and Phoenix @ Knoebel's in 5th. The Bandit @ Movie Park Germany is ranked dead last out of 175 wooden coasters. And as I said about Hades 360 @ Mt Olympus, it ranked in 168th place instead of last place. And if you are crying about the placing of The Beast @ Kings Island, it ranked in 48th place so there you go.
Cool. There is something special about woodies. I love them, they rock. I'm from Toronto Canada and we have a great park. It's called Canada's Wonderland and there are 3 wooden coasters there. 2 for adults and 1 for the kids. I really love to ride these coasters. Cheers to you
check out the new wooden roller coaster in sweden, its called wildfire at the park kolmarden.. Its really intense with a inverted zero g stall after the drop!!
What's so great about The Beast? I went on it, felt nothing afterwards. Hated it. In my book, Boulder Dash is the best. May not be for you, but who gives a shit.
Why is colossos so low ranked? Its still Europes biggest wooden coaster and a lot of what came before seemed to be less impressive. Colossos has a 61° drop, goes up to 120kmh and is 60m high. What did you based your rating on?
For everyone asking "Where's the Beast?" this is based on the 2012 Mitch Hawker poll which is a survey and, while I consider the Beast to be a classic wooden coaster, that's not what's "in" right now. This is a survey poll and what's in right now is wooden coasters packing a ton of airtime which is why all 4 Intamin pre-fab coasters and The Voyage are on here. I consider The Beast to be a top 10 woodie and I've never even been on it but I can also see every coaster on this list making a strong bid for the top 10 as well.
He needs to re-title this list then, because if it holds a record, it should probably make the list. And the Beast still holds the longest wooden roller coaster record.
I actually think Collosus at Heide park is a bit better because it is larger and has more airtime hills... however I haven't ridden either of them and I can't judge
fuzzyferretdude Beast does nothing but goes through the woods slowly with lots of brakes... Toro destroys Beast in every possible category besides length
(5:15) Its Liseberg (in Gothenburg sweden), not Leiseburg =) Check out there new build, it´s called Helix. Not a wooden coaster though, but it will be badass-huge. Thanks for the vid!
They all look great - can't beat the nice wooden coasters. They "seem" to give you a nice long ride compared to the over-and-done-with-quick newer steel ones - or maybe it just seems that way.
Having ridden El Toro, I can tell you that it as good as everyone says. Amazing airtime on the ride. Best place to ride it though is in the back. The trains are so long that you are pulled down the first hill and every hill arfer that for insane ejector air. Overall a good list though.
I was so freaking scared on the yankee cannonball and seeing that it didn't make this list shows i am sort of stupid for being so scared but the seatbelts on yankee cannonball don't tighten well so you go flying every 2 seconds
The only one I've ridden is the Phoenix .. I think that was my first wooden roller coaster and definitely one of my favourites! Knoebels sure does have quite a variety of rides. I loved the other wooden one there, too, I think it's called Twister? Not sure, but I remember loving them both when I went two years ago!
Even though El Toro is prefab laser cut track, it is still all wood with metal slat toppers like all traditional woodies. The layout of the track, however, is a hybrid of out and back and twister.
you need to check your coasters. Outlaw Run was the first to have two barrel rolls in a row, but Son Of Beast (now gone unfortunately) had a vertical loop years ago, and I believe Iron Rattler has a barrel roll.
I'm so happy the Phoenix at Knoebels grove made the list! I love that roller coaster!
It's a shame Lightning Racer did not make it. That's another really fun one.
SupermarketSweep777 Agreed.
KentuckyWallChicken I agree with you. Phoenix is an awesome coaster, and I can't wait to go on it again this year!
kings island is so underrated they have good rides like banshee BEAST diamondback
John Zisko Theyre not underrated but are amazing . It is the 3rd best park in the u.s behind magic mountain and cedar point in my opinion as well as many others .
hah i live 4 minutes from kings island
Many of these look great, but I can't believe "The Beast" at King's Island of Ohio is not on this list. After more than 30 years of service, that is still the best 'woodie' I have ever ridden!

One of my favorite wooden roller coaster is the boardwalk bullet from Kemah tx
There is a good one in Ireland at Tayto Park called The Chucullain made by the Gravity group.
I am absolutely sure that there are a few from this list that could have easily been removed in favor of including The Beast. Even at 35, it is still regarded as THE wooden coaster to which all others are compared. It is still the granddaddy of them all.
14:13 okay what about thunder head at dolly wood!
Is it top 100?🙃 it needs a little loving too!
A poll is an opinion nothing else. If THE BEAST isn't included, this list is invalid!!!!
I don’t get how you are such a big fan of rough straight track
@@UncleMasterChefOBdaGodOrSumIDK Such a disingenuous comment.
To the few people that are knocking The Beast....take a look at how many people are upset at it not making the list!!! Case closed....
Pro tip : watch series on flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.
@Matias Carmelo Yea, I have been using flixzone for since november myself :D
@Matias Carmelo Definitely, I've been watching on flixzone for since december myself =)
@Matias Carmelo yup, I have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :D
Where is Mean Streak from Ceder Point or the Beast from Kings Island?
Mean streak is shit
on point with number one....the only ride in the world where im screaming and laughing at the top of my lungs at the same time :)
I saw Boulder dash. I’ve went on that I love right next to the park. So fun
YESSSSSSS was watching this just to hope el toro go in there, and it's #1! This ride is so much scarier and much more fun than Kingda Ka just across the way. The sharp turns, sheer speed, and feel of a steel coaster just makes it an incredible experience
I am glad to see that Phoenix made the list. What an awesome coaster.
You can never forget The Beast! Shame
Lol. Who talks crap to people about a rollercoaster? The Beast is still a great wooden rollercoaster. Doesn't matter the rank. They all look pretty cool and I love seeing the different rides.
I love the beast.
Just like to point out, the music played for "Colossos" at Heidi park in Germany is actually from "Colossus" at Thorpe Park in the UK rather than the one in germany :)

you have got the music mixed up at the number 9 coaster thats collouse at thorpe park the music you have put with it
I live by waldameer and the ravine flyer makes your face peel back its insane
Who else wishes the beast at Kings Island was here?

Are you going to make a new video with the results from this year?
what is the music at 4:30 please ?
leaving the beast and shivering timbers out of this list is a sin
What about the big dipper in blackpool pleasure beach?
Where is the Cyclone in Luna Park, Brooklyn?
Cool. There is something special about woodies. I love them, they rock. I'm from Toronto Canada and we have a great park. It's called Canada's Wonderland and there are 3 wooden coasters there. 2 for adults and 1 for the kids. I really love to ride these coasters. Cheers to you
where is the beast at kings island on this countdown
I had to mute the noise unfortunately. Prefer just the sound of the coaster itself.
Thanks for this upload! This was fun to watch.
check out the new wooden roller coaster in sweden, its called wildfire at the park kolmarden.. Its really intense with a inverted zero g stall after the drop!!
Where is the beast kings island its better than most of these
What about the hurler or thunder road at carowinds
Whoever put The Beast 48th needs a reality check. The Beast will never leave the Top 10 in my (and a lot of other people's) eyes.....
What's so great about The Beast? I went on it, felt nothing afterwards. Hated it. In my book, Boulder Dash is the best. May not be for you, but who gives a shit.
I love beast, its amazing after the retrack a couple of years ago
8:26 it is called bolder dash 😊
I know it's not popular but where is Shivering Timbers at Michigan Adventures
Why wasn't The Beast at Kings Island here?
Because he is an idiot.
+xCoasterBro_ If you read the description you would be like 'ohhhhhh'
why would you make a video of the top ten wooden coasters on the Mitch hawker thing, and not make your own top ten?
5:14 It's spelled :Balder ''Liseberg''! Not Lieseburg!
What about shivering timbers from michigan's adventure?
Yea that's fun
Where is the beast from kings island
It in Mason Ohio.
Why is colossos so low ranked? Its still Europes biggest wooden coaster and a lot of what came before seemed to be less impressive.
Colossos has a 61° drop, goes up to 120kmh and is 60m high.
What did you based your rating on?
Yeah seriously why isn't the longest wooden coaster on here!?!?! THE BEAST!!
Ive gotten front row on the one in Lake Compunce, CT
To anybody who is saying "Where is The Beast? You suck for not putting on the list?", The Beast is ranked 47 out of 168 wooden coasters.

Your gay
Greg Day His gay what?
ReakMayhem LOOL IM DYING BRO that's so much better than saying you're * lmao
The Beast used to be great. It's okay now, but they've slowed it down too much. Honestly The Voyage kicks its ass now.
He needs to re-title this list then, because if it holds a record, it should probably make the list. And the Beast still holds the longest wooden roller coaster record.
Thank you----Boulder Dash is amazing.....We ride it every year...
El toro is hands down the best wooden roller coaster ever
No.
Have you ever rode El Toro? Plus, it was voted the best wooden roller coaster.
I actually think Collosus at Heide park is a bit better because it is larger and has more airtime hills... however I haven't ridden either of them and I can't judge
el toro's a joke, if you want a REAL wooden coaster, check out the beast, it's thunderous, it rumbles, and goddamn is it a rush.
fuzzyferretdude Beast does nothing but goes through the woods slowly with lots of brakes... Toro destroys Beast in every possible category besides length
What about Knight Valley's 'Wood Coaster'?
Came in @ #14 likely due to lower ridership
Oh... Alright.
(5:15)
Its Liseberg (in Gothenburg sweden), not Leiseburg =)
Check out there new build, it´s called Helix. Not a wooden coaster though, but it will be badass-huge.

They all look great - can't beat the nice wooden coasters. They "seem" to give you a nice long ride compared to the over-and-done-with-quick newer steel ones - or maybe it just seems that way.
7:47 LAKE COMPOUNCE DA BEST!!!! But I personally never been on Boulder Dash Bc of their long lines.
Lines go by quick and it's a great roller coster
Having ridden El Toro, I can tell you that it as good as everyone says. Amazing airtime on the ride. Best place to ride it though is in the back. The trains are so long that you are pulled down the first hill and every hill arfer that for insane ejector air. Overall a good list though.

I didn't like the beast that much. If you want the beast to be higher then vote in the next poll (should be in February, or sometime around there)
The Beast = Best Woodie PERIOD!
Liseberg not Leiseburg
The Beast is the best Wooden Roller Coaster out their.
Boulder Dash exists.
Did he edit out the screaming or what?? O.o
Why stay in alot- But not in my town?- One of the most POPULAR wooden coasters are in my hometown, Vancouver
you need to check your coasters. Outlaw Run was the first to have two barrel rolls in a row, but Son Of Beast (now gone unfortunately) had a vertical loop years ago, and I believe Iron Rattler has a barrel roll.
I rode the ravine flyer II
Your missing the comet from The Great Escape
Where the fudge is the Beast?
