How this coaster manages to maintain so much speed for so long is truly amazing.
What helps it is the fact that on the way out to the "spaghetti bowl" turnaround, the terrain rises about 80 feet. You don't really notice it on the ride but on the trip back it just seems to keep getting faster. This is one of the few coasters that made me laugh and scream like a little kid because it's so relentless. Just an awesome ride in every way.
It is because it was built on a hill. The lift takes you to the top of the hill, then it races down! Very good design. My favorite coaster.

@@ctgottapee Bounce your fillings out? Have you ridden this ride? I rode it in 2019 and found it to be the smoothest of their 3 wooden coasters. They just did a good amount of track work to it last year too. This is not a rough coaster at all.
@@mhtube01 rode last month. It's not a complaint as it's all relative to one's enjoyment of wooden coasters. No big whiplash jerks.

There's something magical about a wooden coaster.
I think it’s just how aesthetically pleasing the giant mazes of scaffolding are. They just look so cool.

This roller coaster is the most intense in the park in my opinion, the really steep drop, the whipping, the loud sound. Man this roller coaster is one of a kind!
The us the only roller coaster iv been on, no wonder I’m so scared of roller coasters, I’m about a week I’m going to kings island and hood out will ride the bat, and mystic Timbers.
Not just the park, but one of the most intense i've been on.
this coaster will absolutely whip you around. its as if the coaster designers had said NO BRAKES. It's fantastic because you spend a huge portion of the ride being out of your seat. It never slows down and never chills out. Just hardcore all the way through.

I remember riding this on opening year as one of my first ever rollercoasters. I remember it for it's nice hills, the fact it looked like it was almost always near ground level (terrain coaster magic is at play and I loved it) and the airtime.
PSA: Ride this at night when it's totally dark. Most incredible experience I've ever had on any roller coaster (and I've been on a good amount - visited 5 theme parks this year alone)! The intensity is almost hilarious and you have no clue what's coming up since it's so dark and you are whipping through the trees and tunnels. I did back row at night and laughed the whole time. Super fun!!
I can 2nd this. That first drop you cannot see the bottom.
The first time I rode it was at night! Man, what a ride! I love The Beast at KI, but The Voyage is on another level.
Fun fact. One of the buildings you see the coaster go through in the ride is actually part of the building where you board and wait in line. There is a window in one of the walls where the people waiting in line get to see the ride and hear the yells of the people experiencing it. It's a pretty cool effect.
It very sad to hear what happened to the person who died after riding yesterday, and it's disgusting that people were angry at Holiday World for closing this coaster and were only upset because "their trip was ruined."
What happened if you don't mind me asking ?
@@lovescoober1993 someone came back unconscious, and was taken to the hospital. Today, she was declared dead.

@@koalakyle19 some people claimed that the closure of this ruined the trip, which is really sad because they have no respect.
@@koalakyle19 It rained all weekend and maintenance needed to do concrete repairs. Wasn’t much they could do in that situation.
Holiday World has some of the best wooden coasters in the world. The Voyage will always be my favorite of all time.
The ejector airtime during the triple down in the dark is incredible. The best thing about your first time riding is that you have no idea it's coming. The whole coaster is exhilarating but that triple down is my favorite part of the whole track.
This ride is a masterpiece. Riding it trimless at night with fellow enthusiasts is the best experience possible in the entire coaster community.

I did the night ride yesterday and it was SPECTACULAR. How can you go on with no trim brakes?? I assume you mean those mid-run ones, right? If so... When do they run it without those?? :D
@@PsiPhiDan in the first week of June they run an event called Holiwood nights where you need to be in a coaster enthusiast club to be admitted into the park between 8pm and midnight.
They disable the brakes at the top of the hill, making it exponentially faster going down the hill. It ran 13 seconds faster than usual that weekend. It was unbelievable

Came here after watching the fozzy music video to Sane, just to see how nuts this coaster was.

This ride is truly one of the greatest things ever built. It maintains its speed for so long and hauls through the layout. It is super aggressive and it feels like it’s trying to kill you but it’s not really that rough and I love it. ( this ride is my current as of typing this number 1 coaster it dethroned Velocicoaster and it is just a great experience). DO NOT SKIP IUY ON THIS. Incredible ride.

So few theme park rides pay any attention to the viewshed. Parts of this one -- though still not all -- are spot-on pitch perfect. I don't know about anyone else but I've had my fill of POV roller coaster vids that offer soaring views of parking lots and maintenance barns.

BEST wooden coaster in the US. VERY powerful (they built it on a hill, after the lift it goes down the hill, thus, does not lose speed. Very clever). Great camera work!

El toro has a steeper drop end better air time hills but this has great length compared to it depends on what you fancy
After hearing about Someone dying on this roller coaster I had to come see how the ride is for myself. 1-10 10 being the scariest coaster this is 4. It wasn’t the coaster, I’m convinced the rider probably had a health condition she was unaware of. My she RIP

I rate this a 5 out of 10 on the thrill scale due to its duration. 1 is kiddie coaster - 10 is Kingda Ka

It's way more intense than it looks, probably because the video cant replicate the roughness of the ride. And as woodies go, it's one of the better ones in terms of beating you up. The two smaller coasters there, Legend and Raven, are much rougher.

Just went yesterday and I loved it during the day but the night ride... Hoooooly cow that was brilliant. Literally had no idea where we were going the whole time and it was relentless!! My favorite coaster experience of all time! Steel Vengeance probably is #2.

this coaster is 2:45 of brutality. I rode it same day as Dawn the lady who died. I have ridden many a coaster and this one is probably the most violent one I have ever rode. RIP Dawn

I lived near this park and I always love riding this ride!! It was a crazy ride and it was super fun!!🤩🤩 They really updated the track to make it longer and it was boss!!🤩🤩🤩
Just got to ride this today with my friends during a whipping rain storm and OMG this ride is not for the faint of heart. The rain added to the experience honestly made it so much more jerky and slick. Hands down a 10/10
i rode this roller coaster and it was the first roller coaster i ever road and let me say one thing, it was the most fun thing i ever did in my life 😄😄

@@traciecopley1131 The whole point of a wooden coaster is to beat the heck out of you. If you want a smooth silky ride, go find steel. If you want to feel everything in the seat of your pants, go wooden.
The trims make me wanna cry/:
They hardly even do anything to the speed of the ride. I've ridden it tons of times, both with and without trims, and the only part the trims sometimes ruin is the first dip of the triple-down.
@@WapoStudios that was one of my concerns though. The triple down was one of my favorite spots. 😔
@@ubergigglefritz As a person who has ridden it without trims several times, the triple down at full speed isn't the best element on the ride. And the parts after it feel the same without trims as well.
@@WapoStudios For me it was. But I rode it in the pitch black during holiwood nights. I agree it's not so good during the daytime. I rode it once in the daylight. Maybe twenty times at night over two nights. I forget how many... That and the very end were my favorites...
They may suck, but sometimes they are necessary!
One the best coasters ever!
I’m blown away by how this coaster maintains speed the entire length even after the mid-course break run which looks like it shouldn’t have ANY speed after that but somehow it continues to pick up even though it “looks” like the hills following it aren’t any lower than where the mid-course break run is. It’s like the best possible combination of engineering, terrain usage and optical illusions.

Rode this earlier today. It was the craziest wooden roller coaster I've ever been on.
This is the roller coaster that made me realize I'm too old to be riding roller coasters any more. I was sore until the next day after riding this. One of the best roller coasters I've ever ridden.

I love it so much and it’s my favorite thing in my head and I love the pov of it. It is so much fun and it’s so much force on your face but I don’t know how to feel after it because it makes a little dizzy but so excited at the same time

I live in louisville but I'll come a hour and a half out of the way to holiday world 9 times out of 10 over ky kingdom, and it's mainly for this ride. I've ridden a lot of roller coasters in my day but this is still the golden standard, the one I compare them to. The voyage is one of the best coasters ever built, and I have yet to ride a wooden coaster I love more than this one.

The greatest roller coaster of all time in my opinion. Wood coaster or otherwise. I hear the night rides untrimmed during their Halloweekend event are absolutely legendary. This is the roller coaster that knocked The Beast out of it's no 1 position for me. Both are incredible night rides and should be on anybody's bucket list at night.
Voyage night rides during Holiwood Nights are an otherworldly experience.
That's a REALLY quick climb, especially for a wooden coaster!
i have actually gone in yhe front seat gor this ride and i ginally got to the front and they said somebody was going before me some vips glad they had fun made it more suspensful watching them go

For the people in the comments, the voyage is a different experience on it Vs. just a POV ride. It’s not the most intense ride in the word but it’s very long and you feel the drops a lot

For a terrain following coaster, this thing never seems to run out of energy. Seems very smooth too.
The terrain disguises the fact that the mid-course spaghetti bowl is on elevated land compared to where the ride starts and ends.

That’s a great coaster
It’s amazing how slow this looks compared to how it was running when I rode it over the HWN weekend. Even trimmed, it was absolutely HAULING.
That seems like a pretty smooth ride for a wooden coaster.
It is smooth, they have an awesome maintenance team that really takes care of their wooden coasters. They seem to do track work to this coaster every off season. I rode it last year and thought it gave the perfect ride by having that signature wooden coaster feel without being rough. The speed is just ridiculous on it too, especially on the return trip!
For a woodie, it's not too bad. It'll still beat you up a bit, but not as bad as the other woodies in the park, Legend and Raven, which are much smaller.
