It's very easy to forget in BB and BCS that the characters are working for a drug cartel. Guys like Gale, Max, Pryce, they all seem like such innocent victims sometimes, you feel that there's good cartel guys and bad cartel guys. People like Gus, Hector and Eladio are definitely more evil but the fact is that they all broke the law, they were all willing to do what they did for personal gain, in the expense of other people. Like Mike said, there's honorable thieves and despicable cops, it's not so black and white. But facts are facts.

      @@dolanddrumpf6344 I agree with that.
I feel your original comment didn't tell that on the surface. With the addition to your opinion I am on board with you now.
Gale was an intelligent man, too intelligent to have been played by gus. It was poor writing on their part, gale should have been portrayed as the true clone of walter given his 'talent' just as a younger man (walt's equil, which I imagine he was in the original draft and cut for time or some such reason), not some flamboyant ditz who is just smart enough to copy a recipe. He was a researcher as interested in the project as anyone could be and had the resources to maximize it's output given his resources.
They really did his character dirty. In my opinion there could be a spin off show revolving around gus that rivals 'Better Call Saul' although more technical and for the nerd audience
His cartel alliance in BCS was the least interesting part of the show to me. Maintaining is more interesting than rising. "A trigger is easier to pull than a thought to be made"

Both. Gus’s life goal, which is revenge, greatly supersedes any relationship he has or may form. Doesn’t mean he won’t like or respect some people he meets along the way. I think he liked some qualities in Gale. To him, Gale was probably like a little puppy. I think the show hinted that Gus liked Gale. When Gus grabbed the green box cutter and stared at it contemplatively, I think it was pretty obvious that the box cutter reminded him of Gale, and that made him momentarily upset.
