It's good to have a store to actually get the game from now for PC, and the bare bones versions are still able to have fan patches applied so that's a plus, especially considering the trilogy isn't a remaster trilogy.
Though I doubt Capcom are actually doing anything with these games and likely haven't been doing anything all along, since if they were working on their own versions for consoles/steam then I doubt Capcom would've let GOG do these if they were doing their own.
But I guess these GOG versions selling well, plus community being vocal about wanting a remastered collection of the games for console and steam, I guess that may make Capcom think about doing them.
For the record GOG GALAXY is an OPTIONAL feature. It is there for those who want the convenience of a client however they do NOT require it to play the content. Doing so would completely defeat the purpose of DRM FREE.
Honestly I think even if you're someone like me who is familiar with and prefers the fan mods of the PC versions, that everyone should pick these up to not only support GOG but also to show Capcom there's demand for the classics and to hopefully inspire them to remaster them on more platforms like Tomb Raider as you said. Even though this isn't the best way to play RE1-RE3, it's definitely very cool to finally have a legit way of obtaining them and for more people to experience.
I like to support GOG as well. Sometimes I'll pay a small premium for a game I really want through them, instead of getting a cheaper Steam key
I think it's great that these games are getting a re-release for PC. This way people can experience these fantastic games which helped build Capcom as a company in the 1990s.
I hope that this is Capcom testing the waters to see how well these games sell. If people like them and they sell well I hope that we get HD Remasters released for these games on PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Steam.
I would love a HD Remaster of Resident Evil (1996), Resident Evil 2 (1998) and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999). I want everything that has ever existed on all versions of these games to be included ALL IN ONE package.
I want improved graphics, quality of life changes, door skip, language select, the option to change the blood colour, all costumes, all weapons, all special obtainable files, additional content and trophy support!
Please make this happen Capcom. Just get a small group of employees to work on this and make this happen to the standard it should be done at. It would make Resident Evil fans like me so happy. I don't want to have to rely on fan made mods to play these games to the standard I want to play them in.
I want to pay you the money for these games Capcom. Please just give us HD Remasters of these classic titles. ððž
On a side note..u do not have to install GOG Galaxy at all, there are offline installers for the game
2 things you didn't mention either is that ofc it's an official release if you want something official and 2 those mods work on this GOG version. I have the Seamless HD Project Mod up and running on it. So you can play it legally, simply, support it and use the free mods.
That is something that wasn't out when I posted the video, however it is great news for people to have options.
Apart from the Seamless HD project, is there other mods that work with this? Sourcenext?
@@CompuforceWally Source next doesn't work on it because it's a different PC port but the Rebirth, HD and Seamless work.

Classic REbirth works and my opinion my number 1 way to play thru the trilogy.
If it was Biorand HD project quality, it would be. Being that it's the OG RE isn't enough. This is on modern PCs we're talking about.
Biorand works on it. So you do at least have that option.
I was really hoping the original RE trilogy had updated graphics like the recent Tomb Raider Trilogy?
Unfortunately no, it's a very bare bones but is easily accessible to almost any PC user now

If they do end up porting the originals to consoles, I hope it would be very similar to what aspyr did with the Tomb Raider trilogy. Also a physical release!
Personally I bought the collection to give it support. I tried to install on Steam Deck but had trouble getting it to run. Hopefully a guide will come out soon to help get these running well on the Deck. ðð

Yeah the only issue I've had is from streaming on OBS with the FMVs not displaying. They work fine, but its like OBS doesn't detect them and displays a black screen instead - with the audio.
I don't know enough about the technical side of OBS to even have a guess as to why it isn't displaying the FMV's. I'm just surprised its not a bigger issue being talked about online with how popular streaming games on twitch and youtube is.
Regardless, i'm having a blast like i always do when i play RE1. Stayed up till like 3am playing last night haha.

The slight skipping during movement was on the original PC port on Windows as well. I remember it on my machine.
And you should be able to play this without issue on low specs. I used to run it on a Diamond Viper and like 25 mb ram.
This release is fine , wasnât paying $300 for an old disc and then it maybe not still work with patches
From what I understand, if you bought it from the ps3 store then itâll show up in your account/games on your ps5. Thereâs a ps3 side of the PS store thatâs inaccessible from ps5, but if you already have it then you can play it on ps5. Is that right? Iâd consider buying a ps3 and purchasing them all to play on ps5 if thatâs the case
for short - absolutely
I suspect the N64 version of RE2 will be available on the switch subscription as they have added a new mature section for the N64

That port still amazes me as Angel Studios (now Rockstar San Diego) managed to fit a two disc PS1 game with all voice acting AND FMVs on a 64 MB cartridge. Yeah the FMVs are heavily compressed, but fact they still got them in the strict file size limit was a major accomplishment. They even gave it exclusive content like new files referencing other games (including RE0 which was in development at the time), and surprisingly even an option to play without tank controls.

I didnât like Directors cut on the PlayStation version of the game. I played it on my PS4. I didnât like it that much. I want to play the original games. I played resident evil 2 on the Nintendo 64. Itâs probably one of my favorite resident evil out of the older series other than resident evil 4

@@zachthezombie Literally this plus the PS4 version has the original soundtrack since it's not the dualshock release.

@@Daringloki only the duel shock version has the new music the non duel shock directors cut has original music
Unless this is an American issue as we didn't get the version with the new music in Europe thankfully
